Nice big sites. Full hook ups. Bath house, it’s quite. They have a shuttle that takes you to downtown Charleston and picks you up. Very nice area. Evidence of water flowing across this site. But it’s a great site if no rain forecasted. Most sites shaded with mature trees.

We have stayed here before, and enjoyed it. They have nice walking trails, and a lovely dog park! We stayed in campsite 1, and, being right at the entrance to the campground, there was a lot of activity, and kinda noisy. We moved to 8, and that was much better. We would definitely stay there again.

We had such a great time at James Island County Park. We had a corner end spot, which was wide and grassy, which was great for our dog. The dog park was absolutely amazing. Love that there was open water spots for the dogs to jump in. Our Aussie had a phenomenal time. The bathrooms were clean. The hosts check in was so easy and seamless. Charleston was just a short driveway. Easy access in and out for dinner. Can’t wait to book there again.

Not our first time camping here, but always a great experience that we truly look forward to! Best campground experience we’ve ever had. The staff is exceptional, miles of paved trails, level sites, and the nicest, cleanest bathrooms, hands down. We will be back!

We just found our favorite campgrounds! James Island campground has everything you need and want in a camping trip plus some. The staff is super friendly and very helpful. My wife and I are already planning our next trip there. We are 220 miles away from St James and this was our farthest camping trip to date. It was worth the drive.

We didn't realize when booking but we were there for the festival of lights. It was wonderful! The location also has a shuttle which takes you to and from downtown charleston. Have already recommended to friends and would definitely return

Christmass light exhibit was really neat. Adults & kids loved it. Best to circle twice as it's easy to miss some of what's going on. Particularly look for the lightening at the volcano and watch where Santa's golf ball goes.

We stayed here just one night on our journey up the east coast (FL to ME) and this is a beautiful park - Huge! We wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy the amenities. It was perfect for a sleepover and to visit Charleston (we took an Uber - very easy). Showers were clean. Green space for the pup. Well kept grounds. Would definitely stay again.

We stayed in RV spot number 70 and it was a great experience all around. Bathrooms the showers or super clean. Laundry machines work great the front office and the shuttle drivers to downtown or top notch. Great place to stay, close to downtown and folly Beach and the municipal golf course. We RV a lot and this is one of the best places we've stayed.

Im sorry it’s been almost 6 months, but I wanted good news before I posted this.
I have a story that I must share. My wife and I were traveling and decided to stay at James Island campground. The park was absolutely PERFECT. We were packing up to leave for North Carolina on June 2nd. I was finishing putting everything away on the outside of our Motorhome as my wife went to use the campground bathroom before we departed. She called me about 15 minutes later and said she couldn’t feel anything on her right side. I immediately went to her and did the FAST test and accessed that she was having a stroke. I immediately called 911 and notified Jacob who was a campground host so he could let the ambulance know where my wife was at. There was another campground host who stayed with my wife while I did this. (THANK YOU, And sorry I can’t remember your name) The ambulance driver was AMAZING and literally got there in just a couple of minutes and got her to the MUSC in just a couple of minutes. The entire staff at James Island were AMAZING and truly my wife’s angels. It has been 6 months and after numerous days in the hospital and hundreds of hours in rehab my wife is able to walk again with a cane. The love and support from this parks staff will NEVER be forgotten.
With love,
Gary and Kristin Washburn

Absolutely the best place to Camp near Charleston SC. Great folks running the park and it's always clean and quiet. It is also very convenient to Charleston's Historic District.

What a wonderful campground. Our large campsite was clean and shaded. The facilities were very well maintained. The many walking trails kept our dogs happy.

A beautiful campground, lots of space, quiet even with so many kids. Nice trails to ride, splash park, multiple pools, water slides. You do pay to use them, but worth the $$ would stay here again.

Lovely campground. A little more expensive than most public parks, but well worth it. The spaces, all crushed concrete, are large, easily accessible, and very level. The park obviously maintains them very well. The downside is that it gets a little muddy in the rain, but it drains quickly. There are a couple of “lagoons” that really just look like mosquito traps, so pick your space wisely and keep away from those areas. Bring bug spray. Wonderful miles of hiking and biking trails in the park.

This park exceeded my expectations. WAY more amenities and options than I anticipated. Next time, we will plan to stay longer. I mean...they even had a raggae music festival with food trucks during our stay....not sure if they do that for all their guest or just super good looking, first class, incredibly cool dudes like my me and my Son. 😎 🤣
Anywho...be sure to go to the fishing pier at sunrise and/or sunset. It's an epic view with abundant wildlife. Try crabbing or shrimping from there! Even this rookie landed a crab and about a dozen shrimp.
Oh...bring your OneWheel if you have one. Shrinks the size of the park dramatically. Considering bringing bikes if you need two wheels.

Enjoy and I hope you catch the crabs!

We camped in our camper travel trailer, so we didnt have room to rate. The attendants and the staff at the camp store are wonderful! They are all very helpful and easy to talk to. They have extra activities for families. The campground is very well taken care of and the park is fun for everyone!

Very nice campground only 15 minutes to historical district. Nice large roomy sites. Lots of trees provide shade and privacy. The check-in staff were pleasant. Although the campground was very busy, I only saw two or three empty sites, it was quiet during the day and at night.
