Large, wooded, hilly, and featuring the Menomonee River, this is an excellent spot for pups who like a break from sidewalks and backyards, and pups who might rather explore than socialize. Nine acres allows quite a bit of freedom to sniff and whiz on nature. Hiking-style paths twist all over the park, allowing a nice bit of exercise for the human involved.

Caveat would be that the park is not completely fenced. No double-door safety access common to smaller urban parks, so if your dog has "selective hearing", be careful around the entrance. The river can get awfully shallow at times, and explorers and natural swimmers could make the other bank and end up on private land with a little effort. Occasionally deer can get flushed out of the brush, and they'll usually beeline for one of these two soft boundaries. Other heads-up: foliage gets thick enough in the summer that it's possible to temporarily lose track of your pup well inside the confines - especially if their attention has turned to the occasional bird or rodent remains common to natural settings.

Overall excellent natural space to let dogs be dogs. Don't wear anything you can't get dirty (or possibly muddy), and it's best for pups that respond to voice commands.

One of the best slots to play with your dog in Milwaukee area. No leash required. My dog loves the water and tall grass, while the other loves to chase my other dog in the water and tall grass. They both left dirty and tired.

Really big park, lots of hills and terrain for your dog to explore. It is fenced by the roads but the main entrance is not fenced you just walk in right from the parking lot (parking lot is down a very long quiet road though). There are some spots of stagnant water so keep an eye on your dog if they like to drink mud water like mine. Overall great place to take your dog for off leash exercise

Nice trails, lots of hills for some real exercise for the dogs. There are many different trails that basically lead around in a big circle. I always forget that it’s a dog park, more up the alley of a small nature preserve. There is a nice shallow creek/river at the back of the park that the dogs can run around and play in. So if you don’t want your dog getting wet/dirty be careful of that.

People are very friendly. There are poop bags at the entrance. The only complaint I have is that it gets very, very muddy after it rains, and the parking lot is ridiculously uneven and treacherous

My dogs love it here. There is a variety of terrain to trek through. They love to get muddy and jump in the water to rinse.

Great place to take my little dog! We both loved it & all the other dogs were so friendly. It's also nice to not have to have him on a leash so he can run & be free. ❤

Perfect place to have your dog on leash most definitely a safe dog and lots of people to talk to it’s located in nominee for and you’ll see lots of dogs in over 500 acres I believe this should be the best place just for dogs it’s just a lot of walks and trails there are rules and regulations before you enter I enjoyed it I like it you should too

Great place to allow your dog to go off leash. Some muddy areas along the trail and some water. In order to go there you need to get a license which is available at the entrance or you can do it ahead of time through Milwaukee County.

We took our 10 month old puppy there loved it! The creek is at a perfect wading level. We felt a bit uncomfortable with letting her loose the entire way though because of all of the different trails. When she has a better recall, we will be sure to bring her back!

My dog LOVES it here and that alone is worth a 5 star. We went on lunch break on a weekday so there weren't a ton of dogs around which is great for my anxious pup! There is a nice shallow creek and you might want to wear flip flops so you can toss a ball around with your pup. My dog got got into the shallow part of the creek and ran around, although there are areas deep enough that if your dog wants to doggy paddle/swim they can. There's a good stretch of nature paths to get to the creek so your dog can sniff happily and get their enrichment on. Be warned that it does get pretty muddy so be sure to have an old towel in your car to wipe them down, and if you're a big neat freak you're going to want to allow time to hose your pup down when you get back. Mosquitos are pretty bad too so wear bug spray. We will definitely be back several more times before it gets too cold to enjoy the creek!

Great place to take the doggos on a hot day! Wish I had known about this place sooner. I would recommend bringing an extra pair of shoes/water shoes.

Nice fenced in park. The trails are well worn, albeit a little muddy sometimes. Wonderful access to the river. My dog loves it. Haven't had any issues with dogs here, just people not knowing how to handle their dogs every once in awhile. All in all nice park. Wears my pup out every time. :)

Beautiful hills every last person I've met in this dog park over the 15 years I've been coming to this location have been extremely friendly. Quite secluded. Mulch path most of the time. Benches. Poop bag stations to use all over. I absolutely recommend this park (there is a $5 dog honesty program)

My husband and I met at this park with our two lab mixes. Love the creek..not so much the mud. Great terrain giving dogs lots of experiences. Always loved this park.
