I have been going here for over a year and I love it. The best gym I have ever been to. It has a great atmosphere, every piece of equipment you could want, and everyone is super helpful. I passed this place for years thinking it was only for powerlifters, but it’s for everyone. There are teens training for the upcoming season, older folks keeping in shape, middle aged dads with beer guts , CrossFit folks hitting tires, as well as (of course) power lifters and body builders. All the members are always helpful to each other and people are always polite. The owners really care about the place and they are always reupholstering benches, cleaning everything , and acquiring new stuff. The place is just great.

100% the best gym in Illinois, glad it’s getting more recognition. Always love to bring people to this gym and show them what kind of environment they’re missing out on, not super pricey and always clean. Always upgrading their stuff and always willing to help anyone out

I wanted to get back to leaving a review of this gym, as I've moved an hour away and am a former patron.

This gym is absolutely amazing. If you're coming from a flashy chain gym, you might learn this gym is something of acquired taste, but once you're acclimated, there's no going back. This gym is about getting strong--not having bizarre equipment that no one ever uses. You can use chalk, you can grunt, you can lift heavy. Deadlifts, the yoke, a log press--all here.

The owners--Kai and Patrick--are on site a lot, and if you become a member, this place is a lot like Cheers. When you see "powerlifting" or "strongman" and imagine a bunch of hulking dudes ready to belittle you for benching 95lbs--this couldn't be farther from the truth. I've never been around more uplifting people (staff AND members). It's not a "bro-heavy" gym; just good people with great etiquette.

One time I was there and told a guy, who was doing the whole courteous look-around-and-see-if-anyone-says-anything look, "that machine is free," and he didn't hear me, just bumped my fist and said, "good to see you, brother." That's the mood of this gym. It's good to see you, brother.

Great experience! Tried out the gym with a friend of mine that was already a member there. One of the owners introduced himself to me and was very friendly and welcoming. The equipment and atmosphere is top notch and it made me want to sign up right after the workout. Great to have a place that fits my mentality when working out and it is for a great price!

From the moment you park, the energy from this gym is amazing! Never too crowded, but instead a great community of hard working individuals focused on their goals. The owners are super friendly and their lovable pit bulls add an extra cool touch to the gym!
The weights, machines and equipment are meant for real hardcore training!!! But at the same time any newcomer that wants to join is always welcome.
I'm going to miss this gym so much as my girl and I are moving our West...
Best gym in the Midwest!

This place is a true to form hardcore gym. It makes no apologies for what it is. And that's why it's great! The new owners are very friendly. Great equipment selection. Still under construction, but hey, hardcore gym's aren't known for being sleek or flashy. It's just a great place to hit some weights.

Hands down best gym I’ve been to. Their membership cost is a great value, everyone is very friendly, and there’s some of the best equipment I’ve used to date. I moved an hour away but will definitely be back every so often.

I came in to check out this Gym and was warmly welcomed and given a tour of the Main Gym, the Power lifting Area and the Strong man area. the next day i was contacted by the owner because i had an interest in power lifting. We scheduled a time to meet and go over the basics and learn proper technique. I decided to join the gym because i could tell the owner and the trainers and all the staff really care about their members and are very passionate about weight training and helping everyone become better lifters. This is by far the best place i have ever trained at and i will continue to come here because in a few short days i felt like family. Definitely a gym i would recommend. If you want to get stronger and make some good friends in the process i would recommend stopping in and talking to Byron and his crew.

Jakked is the best gym I've been to. I love the warehouse style feel and the overall atmosphere. I never feel uncomfortable at Jakked, like I have at other "big box" gyms. The Jakked trainers are knowledgeable and truly help you reach your fitness goals (shout out to Kati who is FABULOUS)! The staff and owners are welcoming and I always enjoy supporting a family owned business.

I'm a strongman and just started competing this year. Their gym is amazing has everything for every level of lifter and type of lifter. I've recently started training with Byron the owner and I've never seen such great improvement and strength in myself. He is a great lifter and trainer. This gym and their training program is the best money I've spent in a long time

Jakked Gym is exactly what you think it would be off the name. Tons of equipment, bars, weights, specialty items for all disciplines. Dumbbells up to 235lbs. I'll definitely be back to try some PRs. Good deals with daily passes and short term passes. The owner Kai looks to be building a new area.

This gym has and always will be the best gym in Illinois. Many great changes have taken place in the past year improving the appearance and functionality of the gym to be even better than anyone could have imagined.

This gym has far beyond exceeded my expectations. They have a huge variety of equipment that is pristine. Others are always willing to lend a helping hand or advice. Definitely earned their title of being one of the top 4 gyms in the country. I've never felt more at home at a gym than here, you expect results and you get results.

Jakked is a hardcore strength training gym. It's family run by two people who have a great story in lifting. It's the kind of place where every member supports one another and it's just fine to grunt or make crazy faces when you lift. This isn't at all like a corporate gym. Personally, it's my kind of gym because of the camaraderie and the belief that everyone can and should lift heavy.

I first walked through the doors of Jakked about 8 yrs ago and have been treated as family ever since. Owners Byron and Tami Hicks have built a gym that has become my home away from home. Over the years Jakked had been a place where I can come and be welcomed by everyone and encouraged to push myself physically and mentally to be the best athlete I can be. I have made many lasting friendships here and truly feel a part of a family of people with a common purpose. To see each other win! This is the place to be if you are serious about making improvements.

Jakked is a great no-nonsense, all workout gym. I don't have to wait behind college kids or bored middle aged people watching the football game or music videos while doing one rep per minute. The people here are friendly and are there to workout. The environment is very supportive. There is a good mix of people here, not just body builders or powerlifters. This is a gym where you can come in and get your work done, and leave with no hassles. The front office people are also very knowledgeable about nutrition and supplementation as well. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

After reading the last review I feel the need to put my two cents in to debunk this "gym rat" below me. First off, I have had a lot of gym memberships in the past and have given up for one reason or another. Until I met Mike Roop, my new trainer, and the owners (Tami and Byron Hicks) at Jakked HARDCORE Gym. In the business for 10 YEARS, the amount of genuine willingness to help and drive each and every member to succeed and see the results they want is consistently above and beyond. The space, the environmnet, and the seemingly endless amount of equipment is ALWAYS CLEAN, ORGANIZED, and SAFE. For these reasons I have listed is what makes this gym one of the top 4 gyms in the country!

This is the perfect gym for all levels of experience. Most gyms have a standard crowd, hosting a wide range of people - from moms trying to get back into shape after going through 9+ months of making a human to experienced weightlifters going through their routine they've had since their divorce. This gym is no different, except it adds powerlifters and strongmen to the usual gym crowd.

They have a couple of treadmills and ellipticals, but the name of the game at Jakked is iron. Who needs cardio anyway when your heart is pounding along with the rock/metal music blasting on the speakers? The times I have gone the gym it has not crowded at all. I've seen a max of 5-7 people working out in the entire gym at one time, but then again I plan my visits strategically. I often am the only one working out in a room.

Everyone seems friendly. Nobody seems to be working out "mad," but instead enjoying themselves like they're supposed to. During warm weather the "windows" (garage doors) are open and you can enjoy the breeze in the screened-in gym. Very easy to achieve that balance of being relaxed yet focused.

They offer a month-by-month plan including a student discount, and also a discount if you pay for four months in advance or a year in advance. I signed up for four months, paying $150, which averages out to $37.50/month. (That's the "everyone" discount, not just for students.) If you introduce yourself as new, you can expect a thorough tour of the gym and its features.

One final note is that they have more equipment than I've ever seen in my life. I don't know how half of the equipment works! You turn a corner and are almost guaranteed to find some big-ass chain or sledgehammer hiding away. Again, everyone is friendly and you can ask freely how the equipment works and expect to get a helpful answer.

Jakked is a community of serious gym-goers. Don't expect to go and not get results. If you can muster up the courage to get over the "intimidation factor," you'll be happy you tried it out.

I don't normally jump in but Gym Rat's Anonymous review needs a response. If you are going to knock a business, at least put your name out there. If you can't do that keep your opinion to yourself. Jakked does not smell of dog urine and there are not pee stains in the Strongman area. This gym is about success, hard work and safety. If that doesn't fit your style then you're correct, it's not the gym for you.
