Gebhard Woods State Park

The IDNR has been working around the clock to improve the I&M Canal Trail system to give us all a better, safer riding / hiking experience! This is a nice quiet little park hidden in the heart of Morris, Illinois that connects to the I&M trail system allowing you to create your own truly epic adventures! Must see! Gebhard Woods State Park is between Nettle Creek and the Illinois & Michigan Canal. This is a great entry point for hiking, or cycling along the Illinois & Michigan Canal State Trail. Parking, benches, restrooms, and a drinking fountain are on-site. Come fish, hike, paddle, snowmobile, cross country ski, or camp. Call for availability. Great spot for a picnic. Stratton State Park is nearby. Great park for a picnic or a walk.

A beautiful park! The streams and canals running through it make for a nice atmosphere, and the camping area was very well kept and freshly mown. The bathrooms had toilet paper, and are nearby for both the camping site and the main parking lot.
There are also a few picnic tables and plenty of grills, as well as a few shelters.

Really beautiful state park right along our normal rural area bike route. We stop here to refill our water bottles and use the restrooms. This is a great stopping point and hub for over 60 miles of off-road bike trails too! Plenty of parking and nice views.

Camped out with my goddaughter. It's nothing fancy but it's a beautiful space and it's right near home. Can't beat it for $6 a night! We had the whole place to ourselves and the field was beautiful with lightning bugs. The fire rings have the adjustable grill tops, the bathrooms are clean but basic (no running water). Camping is carry-in so pack light (we used a wagon to haul our gear).

Great place to take walks and enjoy nature! I love going there early mornings to see the earth's beauty

Took my two and a half year old granddaughter there for lunch and to play we had a blast on the swings and slides and stuff wish the water was back there though it would be much prettier much nicer more complete the canal just don't seem right dry as a bone the information that we received from the lady inside I think Jill not positive was great thank you so much for all your help understanding about my desire to learn more about the canal and the state parks in my area

Though the park has suffered drought in some areas due to a broken water lock. The trail and surrounding areas are a wonderful place to visit when you just need to be away from it all.

Looks like a nice place they have trails all over places to cook out and put up tents.

Very pretty and pretty big area. Nice little playground for kids and right on the creek. Saw deer which was pretty cool.

Nice state park, I stopped in for a I&M National Heritage Area stamp. The park was nice and the park ranger was very friendly and informative.

Super place for a outing with your friends and family. Bring a picnic lunch or dinner and enjoy your time together. Life is short.

Wanna camp and have a great time go visit this park. The dnr people are so friendly.

Hidden back from the road, quiet, peaceful, fun for kids.
