Shining Sails Bed & Breakfast

A friendly, comfortable inn that dates to 1870, with the best mixed-berry muffins anywhere, offered free for breakfast. It's just a two-minute walk from the dock and a base from which to explore all of the island's trails. The owners, John and Winnie, make you feel right at home.

My wife and I stayed in the Periwinkle room in 2019 and Apt. 5 in 2020. Both were excellent! Great views, nice breeze, and the owners are very helpful!

This was a perfect place to stay after sailing to the island. Thanks so much of the clean rooms and hospitality.

We stayed in the Periwinkle. It was simple but clean and had a nice view if the harbor. Definitely the best apartment in the Fish and Main as far as a view goes! At check in/check out the staff was a little cranky but we didn’t have any issues that needed to be addressed so it wasn’t too big of a deal. We would stay here again.

Breakfast was a little light and a little boring... Would have loved some protein before a day of hiking

Room was very clean, price seemed reasonable for the island. But got the feeling we were imposing. Asked if the names of the rooms were marked, answer was "I think so" (the room we stayed in was not marked from the outside and had to see if it was right room using key.) No sheets/bedding on pull-out bed. Did not feel welcome in the common room after the morning ferry was cancelled and it was raining with few places to go. Will look for other lodging on subsequent trips to island.

Over-priced, owner not helpful or friendly, screen door to deck didn't work, we didn't feel at all welcome, whereas we did elsewhere on the island.

Awful policy as far as weather related cancellations.! Was told that I would be refunded for any day that the ferry was not running,.Tried getting refunded for a weekend trip when hurricane lee came by. .Ferry was not running that Saturday, but was told Friday it was, so I still got charged. Definitely would never recommend or plan on going here after being lied to over the phone!
