Had a great experience at the Columbia Illinois post office today, man helped us get passport photos and prepare our packet to mail in, awesome professionalism and courtesy.

Update: My experiences lately have been super pleasant! John is my go to for our account priority mailings. Even David has been very pleasant and helpful. I enjoy my weekly runs now at this location. They’re fast, friendly, and efficient.

Carol is always nice, knowledgeable, and helpful.

Came here to get my application for a passport completed and mailed and although I was running late for my scheduled appointment they were extremely nice about it and still helped me. They also provide photo service here as well for the passport photos.

The ladies at this Post Office were very friendly and helpful. I took an application in to apply for a passport. She was very friendly. Don't know why people had written in bad reviews.

I just visited this place. They had Christmas stamps in stock still! Staff was friendly.

Fast and convenient.

Been there many times with no problems. Friendly personnel and quick service.

All but one employee, (white male) are kind courteous and very friendly. I've been several times to this location, and the one employee is always, always, a grouch, impatient and ready to clock out for the day!

I know there was very soon later Columbia Branch Post Office very nice very elegant building almost Museum like a lot of different stamps and packaging and things for shipping Trackside four stars at 5 but it's about four and a half

Update: I went today, with an appointment, to get the passport and Carol was very helpful and friendly. I've still had more problems then not, but I changed my review from 1 to 3 stars.

Non-friendly staff. I went in today to submit paperwork for a new passport and was told I needed to go home and make an appointment even though there was NO OTHER CUSTOMERS in the entire post office, nobody in the parking lot. There were two employees behind the desk doing nothing. I asked if they could go ahead and do it since there was nobody there and they said "no, actually we are waiting for someone who has an appointment now." WELL THEY AREN'T HERE. I had everything filled out. All they needed to do was witness the signature and take the payment. Extremely lazy. Unreal. And this isn't the only problem I have had. Many more, including theft.

I ordered a package from Amazon. It said Columbia, IL USPS delivered my package. Once I checked my mailbox there was NOTHING in there but the large Dropbox key for large packages. I opened the box & it was an Amazon package for another residence. I had no package with my name on it. So I had to leave the key in the key hole so that my neighbor could get their package. The carrier put the key for her package in my mailbox. Thank God people dnt steal where I live. Meanwhile, the mail carrier showed negligence not only for me but my neighbor as well. CRAZY!

Very poor service, mail is consistently (2+weekly) delivered to the wrong addresses. I have reached out to the post master multiple times with no change. We constantly get other people's mail. Not even close to us. Don't know what's going on in this office but it's horrible. Mail was great up until I moved to New address in April of 2020. Since then it has been nothing but a headache. They have told me that they have spoken with the mail person that serves our neighborhood but that did nothing.

The girl working on two different occasions was rude when I asked if I had enough postage on my card. Simple yes or no would have been better than replying “seems to be” in a smart attitude. The girl that waited on my husband this week was rude to him. Not sure if this is the same person. She sure could use some customer service training. Or maybe how to grow a personality class.

It's hard to set the bar lower than my local post office does. Apathetic is my best one word description of my treatment on almost every visit. There is a reason the USPS is a failure and it starts with the staff's attitude.

Mail delivery service from this branch is terrible. Mail is delivered to wrong address. Mail disappears. Complaining to the postmaster doesn’t do much good. Is delivering mail to the correct addresses that hard.I put my mailbox number on my box using 5 inch numbers, doesn’t help. Is this the new normal for the post office? No problems with delivery until our usual mail delivery person retired in 2019. Now nothing but trouble.

Definitely needs to be on the closure list. If you want to be sure your mail is sent, drive to the Waterloo post office. The businesses in the city already know that as well. Forget about package delivery. One out of three packages from Amazon or other stores will end up delivered to anywhere but you and when you call about it the lady who answers is rude and sounds put out that you even called. Would give a zero if I could.

The people working here are great, but the hours of operation have never been good for working people. They have to have at least one day when they are opened until 6pm!!! So inconvenient. Came at 4:50 and they have closed earlier.

Poorly managed, new postmaster. unsafe facility with violent, unstable employees.

Horrible personnel, unfriendly and extremely poorly managed. If I could give zero stars it would be more appropriate.

Whoever is the manager and whoever answers the phone is very rude and should not be working for such a friendly company.
