Started off in bar for a drink before dinner. The bar and indoor dining area is quaint and intimate. Moved to outdoor tent for dinner which is very spacious and upscale. Food was great - fresh oysters, crab bisque, Martha salad and Chilean sea bass. Espresso martini was also very good. There’s something on the menu for everyone. Service by Armando was impeccable as was the rest of the staff from hostess, runners, bussers and porters. Everyone was in constant motion assuring the best possible customer experience. The restaurant is extremely well-run and immaculate.

For some reason, we came late late. But still had a warm welcome, the staff was super friendly, and the whole restaurant was nice, clean, and bright. We ordered yellowfin tuna tartare, shrimp cocktail, and clam chowder as our appetizer, I should have ordered a bowl of clam chowder instead of a cup, too good.
The entree we ordered: braised beef taco and crab cake, Brussels sprouts as a side. I love all
Of them. This was the first time I ordered crab cake as my main food in the restaurant, tasted so good.
Overall, highly recommend this restaurant.

The Washington House Restaurant is a hidden gem in the Basking Ridge area. The restaurant is located in a historic inn, and the interior is beautifully decorated. The menu features classic American dishes, all of which are made with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. The service is excellent, and the prices are reasonable.

I had the pleasure of dining at the Washington House Restaurant with my work folks recently, and we all had a wonderful experience. We started with the roasted beet salad, which was fresh and flavorful. For our main course, I had the grilled salmon, which was cooked perfectly and served with a delicious sauce. My wife had the chicken piccata, which she also enjoyed. We finished our meal with the chocolate lava cake, which was rich and decadent.

Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience at the Washington House Restaurant. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was charming. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a special dining experience.

This restsurrant is located in downtown Basking Ridge, NJ and near other little shops and restaurants. We recommend sitting inside for special occasions on warm and cold days as the interior is warm and inviting. On a nice spring or fall day, you can enjoy the food and company in the outdoor / covered area which is heated.

We have visited this restaurant for 10+ occasions and it has been consistent. Great service, welcoming staff and atmosphere, and excellent food. The menu does change with the seasons and you have to try the rotational soups (clam chowder, butternut squash, etc...). The Danish Meatballs, steak, salmon / grilled fish options, short-rib tacos, appetizers, and sandwiches / burgers are all solid. The porkchop has been nice on 3 trips but we didn't care for the one we had in September 2023 - the sauce and flavor profile was off.

The restaurant has an excellent wine and cocktail list to accompany the food. It also has options for kids and offers high-chairs and booster seats.

Give it a shot and if on a budget, try on a Tuesday during 1 / 2 price bottle wine night or Wednesday / Thursday for $1 oysters. Enjoy!

This restaurant is quite a gem situated at the heart of Basking Ridge. We were having a short meeting during tea time, so we didn’t get to taste a lot. Simple salad, appetizers, Thai coconut chicken soup and non alcoholic drinks were all great. Staff were professional. We had a great time there. The entrance is on the side street where they have a tent set up as outdoor dining

Outstanding well run restaurant with good food! We had the Washington burger and the chopped salad with seared Tuna! Both really well done! Also had the French onion soup, delicious! The service was outstanding and the restaurant was busy. Sat in the inside dining room, just beautiful! Also outdoor seating on the patio and inside the heated tent. All the servers wore black with the Washington House emblem, very professional looking and all well trained. We will be back! Cool old photos, showing how the restaurant used to be!

There's a cozy indoor space, and a larger "outdoor" tent ... I prefer the former. The menu changes but I really like the pork chop. Fun cocktail menu, and there are some Scandinavian specialties, too.

$1 oysters on Wednesday is my personal favorite. They are not smelly. Don’t have sand and very tasty.
The interior is recently refurbished and feels cozy.
And the beat part? Avocado fries! Have you tried them?

Ate here tonight for the first time in a while. Everything was really great. We were seated right away. Nice cozy atmosphere. Excellent service. Quick without rushing us. And really tasty food. We had the French onion soup and crab bisque, and the sliders appetizer. Also had a beer and a glass of wine. Oh, and a side order of bread - freshly baked. Really great. We will be back!

Fantastic menu, atmosphere and service. Menu choices are American standards to international choices. Beautiful presentation. Service staff was spot on. As we were celebrating a birthday, we brought our own cake and typical plating charge was added but only $2.00 per person. Bar area was very modern and dining area was upscale.

This place was amazing. The food was fantastic. Best Clam Chowder I've ever had. The Salmon was perfect on a bed of sautéed spinach and Risotto pasta. If I back in that area, I am going to eat here again.

I’ve been here for lunch and dinner a few times. The food is consistently good. This time I had the crab cake which was excellent. Their cocktails are very original. The “skinny pirate “ was delicious.

we really loved this restaurant. it was a delightful experience from beginning to end. our server Miguel was excellent and knows exactly how to service a table

The food is really delicious. The French onion soup, outstanding and the potato leek soup was quite delicious. we tried the lobster thermador it was a little cheesy and not enough lobster flavor, but it was enjoyable

The filet mignon is melt in your mouth and something I'll crave again, and the pork loin quite good.

they have the best margarita it's called: omg! wow! yum! yum!

we also enjoyed the pot de creme.

their chef knows what they're doing!

it's also very smartly organized in that there is a team serving the table, drink and food runners. that makes a big difference! The only improvement would be to their hostess staff, we had a weird experience getting a table, even though we arrived at 4:50 and we could get an open table reservation at 5:30. that confounded us a bit.

Excellent menu, food, service and ambiance. My friend and I each had a burger selection and both were excellent, as were our bar drinks! The service was great with Lea as our server and Bill as our bartender.

Our event rented out the enclosed tent area in the back for a celebration of life with about 200 people. The staff was attentive, courteous, helpful, and friendly. The food was delicious. On a chilly, but sunny, Fall day the room was very comfortable without jackets.

Washington Burger is one of my favorite burgers. However, it doesn't just stop there. Their other menu choices also excel far beyond expectation, and for the price, it's arguably very much worth it. Even the drink choices are delectable regarding their cocktails. I've attached what's left of one.

Just went here for the first time with the family. I was impressed. There is a interesting mix of food options and everything we ordered was perfectly prepared. The service was very good although it is a little noisy but that seems to be the norm nowadays we really enjoyed are meal and if your a carrot cake fan try the hot caramel carrot cake it is not your traditional carrot cake, petty interesting if you ask me. So stop by and try it for yourself I think you're enjoy it.

We were placed in the outdoor seating area which had a warm ambiance with a live singer/guitarist. However, the inside aesthetic is much nicer and would have preferred sitting there.

We enjoyed our appetizers of fried calimari and fresh oysters. My main dish was a ahi tuna poke bowl that was light and delicious especially after eating more than my share of fried calimari.
