Ohio Statehouse

We had the opportunity/honor to visit the Ohio State Capitol in APR_FY2024 and it was an amazing experience, a great opportunity to learn more about Ohio's history and legacy.
We did a plant tour and for sure it's a remarkable building.
Definitely, it's a place that deserves my respect. It was a privilege.

Working across from the State House it's always exciting to see everything going on. I've been on multiple tours throughout the years but recently we got to tour it with a bunch of Middle School kiddos. The guide was phenomenal, took time to answer all of the kids questions, and was incredibly knowledgeable. You could see his passion shine through. This is the people's house and everyone should take time for one of the multiple opportunities to visit.

Fun to explore when you have a couple hours one day. I went an hour before it was closing on a Sunday so I had most of the place to myself. Some hallways and staircases were closed due to renovations, but there were still beautiful rooms to visit and paintings to admire. In the main rotunda, there are huge, magnificent paintings of scenes from the War of 1812. The basement offers a unique museum and gift shop as well. You truly can get lost walk around the giant building.

Absolutely amazing experience, I would suggest the tour if you've never been. Definitely an Ohio must see, especially for any history buff or just a fan of the state.

Very cool experience taking the tour. It is fun to see all the stuff about Ohio's past and everything about the Statehouse's past. The rotunda was really pretty, the flag and all three giant paintings are beautiful. The Great Seal of Ohio at the top was an amazing site. I hope to come here again sometime soon! We were unable to visit outside because of the rain. We did get to experience the alarms going off and getting locked down. The kids enjoyed looking for fossils in the floor and walls.

It's one of the most beautiful capital buildings I've been to. It may look small on the outside, but it's very impressive. It has a gift shop and a museum, it's worth visiting

Each guide has their own interpretations and vibes. Hope you get a good one ours was a miss. We wanted to learn more educational things rather than the guides personal opinions.

The Tour with Patricia was fascinating. She had a lot of knowledge and she was very welcoming. We had a wonderful time, thank you so much.

The tour lasted about 60 minutes, tours start every hour from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. There is also a museum to visit, both were free of charge.

Hourly tours given at the top of the hour, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday thru Friday. Enter off 3rd Street at the Annex Entrance. Meet in the hallway outside the Gift Shop.
Museum and exhibits on the same level.
This is a public building, and you are free to wander. Private offices or restricted access areas are clearly marked.

We had a fantastic time at the Candlelight Concert featuring the music of Taylor Swift! An enchanting, magical experience!

Great tour!! It was much more interesting than I thought it would be. The kids loved it. Carole the guide was great!!

Back with another set of Grandkids! Boy is it a different experience depending on who you get as a tour guide. The kids still had fun though.

Beautiful, historic Statehouse building which houses the Ohio State House of Representatives and Senate chambers, the Ohio Governor’s office, and other offices. They have both guided tours every hour and self-guided tour (there is a informational brochure for self-guided tour). The rotunda is beautiful! And you can also peek in both chambers. There is an underground (paid) parking garage.

Awesome performance!! Well worth it. Intimate setting, easy to see, sounded great! Musicians were great!

The Ohio state house is a great place to visit. I recommend it to you if you want to learn about Ohio history or just want to see a beauty full place over all. A couple of facts I learned myself are there were 8 total United States presidents that were born from Ohio also I never knew that each state house got a copy of the library bell. The tour guide was very nice and gave lots of facts and she knew the place very well. The outside is also gorgeous it is a nice place to walk around when waiting for the tour to start, there are war letters you can read outside when you wait as well. I had a great time it is definitely worth a try if you are looking to do something.

Wow! This place is amazing. I can't believe I've waited til I was so old to actually take a tour of our Ohio Statehouse. It's definitely a design all to itself. The map room was really cool to see. But just the immaculate beauty of the columns, marble, fixtures, and even the restrooms was interesting to see. We got there just a little bit late, but was able to join the group with Cathy (I believe) being the tour guide. She was inviting and was able to answer most questions. And being a volunteer to be a guide was profound noble deed.

Reports of backroom deals and cronyism cast a shadow over the institution, eroding public trust and confidence in our elected officials.Perhaps most troubling is the alleged manipulation of public perception within the confines of the Statehouse's basement. Rumors abound of clandestine gatherings where propaganda is disseminated, dissent stifled, and dissenting voices silenced. Such tactics undermine the very foundations of democracy, turning a once-hallowed institution into a breeding ground for deceit and manipulation.As citizens, we must demand greater accountability and transparency from our leaders. The Ohio Statehouse belongs to the people, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that it serves the interests of all Ohioans, rather than a select few. Only through vigilant oversight and active engagement can we reclaim the integrity and dignity of our democratic institutions.

I took a friend of mine to the concert by candlelight music by Queen at the Ohio Statehouse on Feb 15th. It was definitely an enlightening experience. We really enjoyed the atmosphere. I would definitely go to something like this again. I've never been to anything like it.

I highly recommend this event for anyone even remotely interested in orchestral music. It's one of the coolest environments to experience live music!

This place is amazing!!!! Magnificent architecture. So beautiful. The history is so interesting. I wish we had done the tour. I would so go back for that!

Everyone needs to visit the Statehouse and take the tour. So enjoyable and live to hear the history and the random dad joke here and there.
