Back 40

Following my Goddaughter's first communion, Back40 was the first choice for dinner. We had 15 adults and 2 children. Considering it was a fairly large party, they had one large table and one smaller one right behind it that sat six. The waiter came over right away and was very friendly. Before taking our drink orders, he gave us time to get situated. My mom and I ended up getting the traditional eggs Benedict. My husband ordered corn beef hash eggs Benedict and my dad got a burger. All said their food was delicious. Despite the fact that the tables were a little close to other patrons dining, unsure if this was due to the extra table they added for us or if this was the norm, and the limited menu, I would’ve loved to have more choices for brunch, I would still give a solid 5 stars. You will definitely leave full, prices are reasonable, service and food were excellent.

Wow! Such a fun place. Wish we had one local. My wife and I wanted something light and decided to split the salmon shown in the photo. They literally half portioned it, cooked and plated it separate without sparing on the presentation! Wow. Hands down one of the most perfectly cooked salmon I’ve had. Season was great. We would recommend to anyone. Ambiance was great with plenty of seating and a kind server.

Amazing food!! Their drinks were very good as well. I would definitely recommend coming here for a bite!

I'm updating my original review because of my experience tonight. I love Back 40, and we used to go relatively frequently; the food and cocktails are great. I normally have great experiences with the waiters and waitresses, and tonight was no exception (honestly it was one of the best) until the check came. We used a gift card, which is unusual for us, but it was a Christmas gift. The waitress, who had been exceptional up until that point, felt the need to highlight the total before the gift card and add a large pink arrow to it to make sure she was tipped properly. It felt really crappy to be treated like an idiot. I get it, people in the area might not always pay attention, and tip inappropriately with a gift card, but not everyone does. I was planning on tipping with the cash I had on hand (that was well above 20% of the total) because of how good the service was. I ended up tipping 20% on the card and left dinner feeling crummy. It left a horrible taste in my mouth and I don't really want to go back. I'm leaving my original overall 5 star review, because one frustrated server doesn't represent the entire restaurant, but I also want them to know when a server is alienating customers. If inappropriate tipping with gift cards happens so often that servers resort to this, maybe management should find a way to make sure the original total is on the card receipt.

I have eaten here numerous times, and it never disappoints. The staff are always nice and very attentive , the service is always great , they handled our party of 10 with no issues . The food was great and came out super quick for a busy restaurant. They offer great drinks , outside seating and it’s conveniently located minutes off the highway . Parking , there is plenty . You will definitely enjoy this place .

Fantastic restaurant and bar with an awesome atmosphere and vibe. Large draft beer selection with fully stocked bar & cocktails. The nachos and asiago pretzels were delicious and a must order for appetizers. The barbacoa tacos were off the charts and much larger than I expected. Good beefy flavor profile and liked that was pan seared to crisp up before throwing into tacos. The Back 40 burger was good, but my son wasn't a fan of the special sauce as it had a really tangy ketchup profile. The loaded tator tots as an upgraded side is a must! Side Caesar salad was pretty large and had great large homemade croutons.

I had the Sweet and Tart which is a lemonade with strawberry and basil. It was delightful and refreshing. Maura was my server and she was friendly, polite, and knowledgeable. She gave me great recommendations and she was present when I needed her. I got the Cali Spring Fried Chicken Sandwich with french fries. The fries were perfectly crispy and delicious. The sandwich itself was light enough I could have eaten the whole thing, but still filling and delicious. The whole experience was different and fun and I'll definitely be back.

Went with a girlfriend and loved the decor, the staff was attentive and friendly and the food was delightful. I had the Back 40 Burger which was massive and grilled perfectly with a side salad. We split the parmesan truffle fries and she had the fish tacos. Definitely need to go back!

This place is awesome. My son and I had planned to go to another restaurant, but there was a Trick or Treat event downtown and everything was packed, so we came here instead.

My son got a burger and I got the Fish Tacos, and they were FANTASTIC. My son loved his burger. The vibe of this place is kind of a rustic sports bar, and all the staff we encountered were very polite and friendly.

We live on the CT/RI boarder, so we’re not too far from this place which is good, because we will DEFINITELY be back!

Stopped here after a hike in the area with our two small children, at the height of brunch, and both the food and service were great. Charlotte was so patient, friendly, and helpful. Recommend the fish tacos!

Amazing experience for our family. We went on a Tuesday night. It was a quiet night and the service was outstanding. Our children felt welcomed and they loved their meals.
Our server was friendly and answered all of our questions regarding dietary needs and options for subbing items. We also couldn't decide on what beer to have and we got a few samples to help us make our mind. Highly recommend it!

Back 40's food menu is unique enough to keep us coming back - it's not just your typical pub stuff. One of my favorite burgers in the state. Plenty of seating - we've never had to wait even during peak times. Always a great beer selection, too.

The atmosphere is definitely warm and cozy and the food was delicious.

Went in for the nachos and a beer. Nachos were excellent 👌. Fast and friendly service. Diverse menu. Good beer selection. Also a good Whisky selection. I will be back.

I don’t go out very much and am picky about where I will go. If I’m giving a rating and leaving a comment it’s because either it was trash, you messed up bad or it was actually more than outstanding. This place is a beautiful little hole in the wall along the back country crossroads of Rhode Island. It’s extremely clean and welcoming and something about it makes you want to be there. They serve comfort food and also provide a comfortable atmosphere. I’m going back twice in a row for the house chili. Exceptional employees, each one knows how to interact with you as if they’ve known you forever and on top of it all. The food is quite noticeably better quality than most places that have 4 and 5 star google ratings and I’m sure the cooks also help in providing the genuinely comforting and delicious food. If you made it this far in your search you should just go to Back40

Jillian our server was super friendly. The food was amazing. I ordered the loaded tots and the mac and cheese. both were 10/10!

usually chicken parm doesn't taste great at restaurants but it was really good here! i also liked the chocolate cake with buttercream frosting i can't remember what the actual name was though. the cows on the wall were very nice.

Drove by with my boyfriend and couldn’t get the place out of our heads. Took the kids and omg was it DELICIOUS!!! DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! Service was amazing the waitress was so wonderful! I got the French toast! My boyfriend got Nashville Chicken sandwich and he finished his plate! My picky son got the chicken tenders and actually requested we return to eat again! (shocking) the homemade donuts were fantastic and my daughter also cleared her plate of scrambled eggs! Definitely going back!
