My first time at Grass Rootes
Went there for lunch with my daughter. I got the Vegetable Pasta, and my daughter got the Chicken Salad sandwich, and we got a house salad. Bread is brought to the table when you are seated. Everything was delicious The staff checked on us often to make sure everything was okay, and if we needed anything else, I will definitely be going back 😊

Such a nice surprise. This place was a block away from our lodging for the night so we stopped in for dinner.

Right away we loved the atmosphere. Live singer, cozy fireplace, great decor.

The service was unusual. At first we were confused about who was our server. The longer we stayed the more we realized they all were our servers. Each and every person working was taking orders, checking on tables, serving drinks, clearing dishes. It was the best run restaurant I’ve seen. Props to the owner/manager for creating that wonderfully efficient and helpful environment and staff.

The food was wonderful, wine sublime and the dessert just right. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

I’m new in Culpeper, this place made me feel so comfortable and has a great atmosphere. The staff is very helpful and friendly, we always had quick orders with detailed descriptions of the menu. The outside ambiance is my favorite with propane fire tables, plants and cool decorations. I love this place. Had a guy there playing live music with his guitar, this make the place so relaxing. The food tastes awesome, drinks are great, I loved the desert, double chocolate cake 🙌 , they have great options for all palates. I’ve tried other restaurants, but this is my favorite.

From the moment I walked in, the inviting ambiance set the stage for an extraordinary dining experience, with propane fire pits outside and beautiful decorations. The menu is delightful and, each dish a symphony of flavors meticulously crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The staff's great service and warm hospitality added to the overall charm.Grass Rootes is an absolute gem, Highly recommend!

My family and I truly enjoyed our experience at Grass Rootes. Our server, Zach, was super friendly and attentive! We will definitely be back!

The owner Andrew, is so very nice. Actually goes around the restaurant to speak with his customers. Staff also great. The food was absolutely AMAZING. I would highly recommend definitely call ahead for sitting as they get busy quickly. We will definitely be returning

What can I say about Grass Rootes.. there is so MUCH!! We will miss Andrew but Kelly taking over has brought a fresh new atmosphere!!! When we are there Kelly is so busy. She still makes time to welcome you with a smile!! Love what your doing to the place!! The servers are always attentive and quick!! The food ?? WOW!!! If you haven't yet you HAVE to get the Fig & Pig Flatbread !!! The soups are fresh and tasty!! My steaks are always perfectly made to my liking!! The stuffed figs wrapped in bacon was AMAZING!! I don't even like figs! Thanks to our server and his high recommendations i have a new fave!!! I have to have my server pick for me more often!!

Would I drive an hour plus to dine at Grass Rootes again, Hell Yeah! I've frequented many restaurants, but this was by far my best experience in service, food, and atmosphere. The owner is very friendly and walks around to make everyone feel welcome. The food was one of the best I've had, very fresh. Each plate was an explosion of goodness in my mouth. 100% recommend. And get one of the specials

If I could give 10 stars I would. Atmosphere was amazing and food delicious. Zach, our server, was very attentive and went out his way to make us feel welcome…thank you Zach…you made our experience at Grass Rootes an awesome one! We will definitely come back if ever in the area again!

As usual, another amazing meal! Grass Rootes had perfectly cooked soy glazed oyster mushrooms and delicious, large soft shell crab sandwich with a beautiful view from their back deck. (Lemon is from my lovely catfish that I gave my spouse for his crab).
Every special we have ever gotten there has been on point. This is our go to restaurant in Culpeper.

Just had our first brunch at Grass Rootes!!! I am very OCD when it comes to what I eat. However at Grass Rootes I had so MANY wonderful options to choose from. The cinnamon bun pancakes are a MUST have!!! Thank you Kelly for introducing new menu items!! Such a refreshing break from the old set in place menu!! You can feel the love and care as soon as you walk through the doors!!! 5 stars all the way

We recently had a family event with 16 people at Grass Rootes. The owner, Kelly, was terrific to work with! She was very helpful in accomodating several food preferences and allergies that people had and the food was great.The event was held in the private room downstairs. The environment was perfect! It's a historic setting with amazing architectual features and a fire going in the fireplace. The waitstaff were very attentive and super friendly. Our family would have a good time anywhere, but having it at Grass Rootes made the event special and memorable. Thanks Kelly!

This spot is an absolute GEM! The food, live music and ambiance is unmatched. Kudos to the new ownership, they have elevated the menu. I haven't been anywhere that offers fesh Louisiana crawfish by the pound so was pleasantly surprised. Delicious variety of food. I will definitely be returning!!

Highly enjoyable lunch during the week here. Excellent service, everything was great. Lunch prices were fair. Quite a few daily special options. Note: they do have coffee in case you're in need..lol

Hubby and I live over an hour away. We used to live close to Culpeper and we had intended to go somewhere else that we used to enjoy, but they were too busy. So, we went for a walk and found this gem! The service is unparalleled. The owner, Andrew Ferlazzo, makes you feel like family. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The food was great (Sunday brunch buffet), and the ambience had a relaxed, jazzy vibe. We'll be more than happy to make that drive again to try some food on the menu and enjoy some live entertainment.

Extraordinary! I've been a fan of Grass Rootes under Andrew's ownership. My wife and I revisited there last night under Kelly's stewardship. We were NOT disappointed! I had mussels and pasta, and my wife the rib-eye steak. Everything was perfectly prepared. The service was attentive without being obtrusive. I met Mark, Andrew's brother, helping Kelly with the place. Amazing.

So, would the review end there? Not so fast m'friends. We learned last night that they were offering a Sunday Brunch! So we had to try it out. I had steak and duck eggs. Done to utter perfection... Of interest, my wife can't abide the slightly sulfery smell of hen's eggs, but she tried the yolk of the duck egg which has none of that, and was just creamy and delicious. Finally some eggs my wife enjoys!

It is expensive. But you get EVERY PENNY you pay for. If you want fast food, by all means, there is plenty to be had. But if you're looking for a memorable meal, in a beautiful, intimate (and fire-warmed) setting, Kelly's Grass Rootes is where you've got to go.

We just happened to visit during Restaurant Week! An app, main course, and dessert for $35. The atmosphere was lovely, live music too. I didn’t take a picture of my main course but I got a duck leg and it didn’t disappoint. I live in DC, so my friends and I really enjoyed eating here and visiting this small town!

Was n town briefly after being in the mountains. Stopped here and had a fantastic time! Sat on the balcony out along side the front, watched the sun set on the quaint town, drank delicious manhattans and ate food I later dreamed about, it was so good! Had the roasted red pepper soup, house salad, roasted brussel sprouts and mushroom ravioli. If we had more time we would be there for lunch and dinner again, over and over, just so we could try everything. There was a warm fire inside and the owner and staff were super friendly. I will return the next time I'm in the area and reccomend it to all!

My friend and I stopped in to this restaurant for some after dinner drinks and music. They had live entertainment on this particular Friday night. Fun atmosphere. Our drinks were great and we received good service. We will be back soon to try the food.

I love coming here. It is a premiere restaurant with excellent food and cold drinks. Plus there's live music on weekends! I'd know because I regularly perform there! Come in- you won't regret it.
