John Dexter Wells & Plumbing is outstanding! John does all the work himself, and is a licensed Master Plumber. He has accomplished the following needed work for us in our home over a couple years: New hot water heater, new well pump, new water treatment system, and several in-home plumbing related challenges. My wife and I will continue to exclusively use John for anything plumbing or well water system related. Highest possible rating!!!

John was quick with the replacement of my sump pump and he also cleaned out the pit which was full of rocks. I will definitely be using him again for any future issues.

It happened suddenly.....no water in my house, not one drop. I found Dexter Well and Plumbing on Angi's list. And what a PERFECT experience. John found multiple problems in my well, including errors made during the original installation, as well as problems created by a more recent plumber. He corrected all of them. John was professional, courteous, super competent, and everything anyone would wish for with an expert Master Plumber. And I now have water in my house. Thank you, John.

John saved me. He diagnosed a water pressure issue with my house and was able to quickly fix it with no damage to any walls for floors. He came back to hook up a gas line to my new pool heater. When the heater didn't work, he quickly came back to troubleshoot the pool heater and identified that the issue was with the gas meter I called the gas company to come by to fix the issue. John, he stayed onsite to ensure the heater was working properly before he left. His prices are reasonable and I had no problems getting on his schedule. Highly Recommend Dexter Wells & Plumbing.

Called Dexter Wells & Plumbing because we had an issue with our well pump and John was about to come out the same day and the very next day installed a new well pump and pressure tank for us.
We are very pleased with the services received. John is a very nice man and definitely knows what he is talking about when it came to our issue.
He sat and talked to us throughout the whole process and it was nice to learn a little about everything he was doing.

Hi my name is Dan. I live in CrimoraVirginia I to contacted Dexter through Angie’s list. I spoke to the dad. The dad told me everything that he would about the well and he said he sent his son Cory out to my home and he had complete confidence, and Cory,Cory was a godsend Cory came out to the house evaluating our situation told me we didn’t have a water problem. We had a well problem. Our well casing had been compromised and had a break in it He put a new sleeve in a new pump new hose new wiring changed around our pressure tank. Did everything got it back together and within 10 minutes we were running clean water instead of mud I just want to say thank you to Cory and his dad for everything.

Sometimes (rarely these days) you find someone who does quality work at a reasonable price; is knowledgeable and pleasant to work with; and is punctual, responsive and takes pride in their work. John Dexter is one of those rare people/companies. My husband and I had been dealing with another well company for several months after we ran out of water and our well pump motor blew out. After spending $8,500, we still had water supply problems and we’re being told we needed to drill a new well (for an additional $20,000+). We called John and he came out within 2 days. John discovered that the well pump installed by our prior well company was not only the wrong pump for our well, but the electrical wire in the well had actually been spliced! John replaced the system for half the cost of the original company and water is once again flowing in our house! Thank you John!

In November, we started to have problems with our water pressure. Had to replace water heater and well pump and was told we had to drill a new well because the pressure was still dropping. We got a second opinion from John. He was able to come out quickly and diagnose the problem. He discovered that mud was coming in to the well. John came back and replaced the pressure tank, installed a sleeve and sealed the well. I am delighted to say that for the first time in 25 years, we have 100% pure water with no coliform and no mud thanks to John and his expertise. I HIGHLY recommend this company for any well problems.

John saved the day (week, month... year) for us! I got home a little early one day to find that my water didn't work. After a little bit of troubleshooting on my end and with the knowledge that my pressure tank was way past its expiration date, I called Dexter Wells. John Dexter was at my house within an hour of my call and had a new pressure tank and switch installed before dark. He let me hang out and see what he was doing and explained the parts and operation which I really appreciated and enjoyed. If you want great work from a nice guy, don't call anyone else.

We noticed our water pressure had started to decline. I called the office around 830 am on May 31,2022. I was told they had a well repair going on and would be over in the afternoon to look at our situation. About 1 hour later I got a text that they could come earlier. John got here around 11 am. He quickly and expertly diagnosed a dying well pump and a broken pressure tank. John worked in the 90 plus degree heat to remove our old submersible well pump and replace it with a new one and change the well tank in the house. When he got finished and tested the pump would not run, he then diagnosed ( through experience) that we had a shorted breaker from the main panel. I replaced the breaker and sure enough everything worked. John worked most of the day to get our water well replaced. I will be calling Dexter plumbing for any future needs. John was timely, professional, and affordable. Buying local always makes sense. Thank you John for all your hard work.

Travis is incredible. We were having issues with air in our lines, and he diagnosed a well pump and pressure tank issue due to age. He returned the next day with Aaron to repair. They ran into a few obstacles due to some deep well issues, but paitently solved the problems and got us up and running, refusing to leave until they could finish, not wanting to leave us without water. They worked until 11 pm to make sure all was right, even cleaning up before leaving. You can't find service like this anymore- thanks, Travis and Aaron!

I hired Dexter Plumbing to replace my well pump, install a sleeve on the well head to prevent ground water intrusion, and replace my pump tank. John Dexter (the owner) and his assistant Edwin did a fantastic job at a reasonable and honest price. I observed them for most of the time to learn what they were doing and found them to be exceptionally skilled and personable. Most importantly, our water is clean and tastes good for the first time in years. I highly recommend him for any plumbing need and he is definitely first on our list!

My water stopped working. I contacted Dexter Wells & Plumbing after business hours, and was pleasantly surprised that a human answered my call! She took my information and in the morning Mr. Dexter came to my house as she’d promised. He replaced my well pump and water pressure tank. He offered financing as an option for payment but we elected to pay in full. He was very knowledgeable, empathetic, and reasonably priced. I felt he was honest and laid out all of our options and explained things clearly. We were very pleased with his work and impressed with his years of experience and level of expertise in his field (he’s a master plumber and has been working in his field since the early 80’s). A few days later, unrelated to the water issue he’d repaired, we replaced our toilet handle and it wouldn’t flush/refill. I called his office and he came out on short notice and fixed it for free! I should add that though our water took longer to get the chlorinated smell out than he’d said it would (he said by next day, it was several weeks before I wanted to drink it, due to the smell), it is back to being my delicious well water that I love! Just had to buy bottled water in the meantime.
We will definitely call him next time we need plumbing help (but hopefully that won’t be for a while!). Highly recommend.

Dexter Wells & Plumbing just replaced my water heater and I am extremely happy with their price and service. Their technician John was not much for conversation but was a get down to business kind of plumber. Two hours was all he needed to remove the old unit and install the new one. He gave me some great great maintenance advice and I also got a ten year warranty on the water heater. You can’t beat that. We will use them again, I highly recommend them. -Rich

I don’t normally write reviews but this was such a great experience I had to write a review. I was having trouble with my well and called around for months trying to get someone to come out and take a look and see what we needed to do. I called everyone I could find and received promises of coming and no one ever showed up. I had dirty water for months. I called Dexter plumbing and John came out right away and gave an estimate. We agreed to the repair and a couple days later he came out and repaired the well. John worked all day long in 90 degree heat. Repaired the issue and I waited two weeks to write this review to confirm water is clear and clean. If your looking for an honest, reliable, hard working company give this company a call.

On July 26th John came to my home. He was punctual, professional and explained every thing he did. All issues were resolved at a reasonable price. He is very knowledgeable. Would totally recommend him and his company.

After being strung along by another company for a week & half with no water in our home, gave him a call & he came right out same day! He figured out the problem, gave us a working solution to have water overnight and came back the next day and pulled our well pump replacing a cracked housing, pump & other 30 year old corroded parts. Everything works great! Thorough, honest and a nice guy. Made this old handicapped veteran very happy! Getting by on veterans disability is challenging but his price was more than fair. We live in Louisa County and it's hard to find good service of any type here. You won't find better than Mr. Dexter!

Mr Dexter arrived on time, was very polite and attentive to our concerns. It quickly became clear to us that one of his expertise is in tankless water heater systems. It was refreshing to have an honest assessment of our system. In his opinion, we did not need to spend money on a service (that he actually does for these systems) that he did not think was needed or beneficial to our situation.
