Great trail with many different views. Plenty of places to stop and rest. Nice smooth surface.

As it gets colder, the trail has less traffic. I surprised myself with doing nineteen miles this evening. We saw thirteen deer and one crane. I lost count of the squirrels I missed. One of the biggest secrets is this trail. Dare I say any more good things about this trail!

This trail is amazing. Trails that run 40 miles thru Virginia’s beautiful scenery all on a paved trails. Park along one of the many entry points and go as far as you want.

Excellent trail for biking, walking and horse riding. Lined with utilities along the way, you are constantly reminded of the urbanization of Northern Virginia in particular. My favorite is the horse trail that runs parallel to the bike trail and offers a rich variety of flora.

A lot to see while running, hiking, biking or riding. Be warned, going west is a slight uphill the ENTIRE way.

Great staff, great park! Trail users are a mix of agnostics and members of The Church of We (nice people!) and The Church of Me Me Me (hopefully they will not (purposely or inadvertently) injure you, but they don't care, see below).

Really good trail. I bike here almost every day. Just be aware of other people on the trail.

I am so very fortunate to have the trail just a few steps away from my home in Sterling. I take advantage of that and go bike riding during good weather several times a week, averaging 8 miles a day. On Sundays the trail gets packed with bikers, joggers, walkers and baby strollers so be mindful.

42 miles of graded and paved trail. It's a very safe place to ride a bike with lots and lots of places to eat and explore. The Eastern half is the busiest, the Western side is more country, horses, and quiet. Not recomended for those who want to race, there are walkers, little ones and slower riders.

Really love the bike trail. I can put in 20 - 30 miles in a single day. There are frequent rest stops and some stores along the way to refuel yourself. I've never seen a bike trail like this ever before. The only thing that comes in close is the Skyline Drive in Front Royal which has light traffic.

Beautiful paved path for walking and biking. Mildly up and down here and there but being on old railroad bed nothing too serious. Rather heavily used so one needs to be aware of others on the trail.

I try to ride every day usually between 28 and Ashburn Rd. Trail is great. My favorite part is past Leesburg through to Purcellville. It is very nice through there with a tree canopy and good shade. Remember to signal when passing.

24 May 2016, Tues - Most recent trail use.
Normally I would use this trail for bicycling. On this day, I decided to do a power-walk. The trail is smooth and well maintained the area that I walked which was between Ashburn Road and Swith Switch. It was very helpful to reach Smith Switch station knowing there are shaded benches (provided by a Boy Scout Eagle Scout Project) and a couple of porta-potties.
*It would be a helpful aide to people using the trail to have areas marked on the maps signifying the location of porta-potties and resting benches. I only knew of this one because I've bicycled on the trail in the past.
*I have bicycled from Ashburn to Purcellville and from Ashburn to Vienna.
*This trail was originally a train route, thus the name W&OD. It has a history that is marked along the trail with plaquards. Take the time to rest and read about the history, enjoying what was and what is now. Traveling this trail is peaceful though at times there will be many bicyclists, runners, roller-bladers, walkers and occasionally a horseback rider, there is still a feeling of excape from the busy urban life.
**I have recommended this trail and will continue to recommend it. Enjoy!

It's nice you can do long bike rides with your family but be careful there are some parts where you meet young people from Mara and others but nothing happens your hand phone and ready to call

For the budget they receive it's an excellent trail along with parks. I would love to see more money into it for improvements. To many use this resource.
