Barboursville Vineyards

Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. My sever picked out my wine tasting flight based on my preferences and was spot on, all the wines were delicious and sweet like I like them. My lunch was so delicious I got another salad. The strawberry rhubarb cobbler is delicious. I think this is my favorite winery now out of the 4 I have visited:)

Wow! Saved the best for last. Beautiful hidden gem. Apparently, well known locally, recommended by everyone we ran into. Gorgeous building above the vineyard. Library cafe indoors because of the rain. Great wines! Bought a case. Great food and hospitality.

We had an exceptional experience at Barboursville Winery! Their impressive library of wines and extensive facilities, including an onsite restaurant, provided the perfect setting for a memorable visit. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable about the winery's history and property, adding depth to the experience.

Since the weather was nice, I opted for a sparkling flight, which was very refreshing. Among the selections, the brut was my favorite, offering a delightful balance of flavor and effervescence. My partner enjoyed a red wine flight, which paired beautifully with their meat and cheese board – a small size was more than enough for the two of us.

The combination of Barboursville Winery's wine selection, excellent facilities, and attentive staff made our visit truly special. We left with a deeper appreciation for the winery and its offerings. If you're looking for a wonderful wine experience, I highly recommend visiting Barboursville Winery.

This winery stands out among its peers in Virginia. The Library tasting experience takes place in a picturesque space. Guests are afforded comfortable spacious seating (we sat near a fireplace). Wine flights are curated and information is self guided. A range of food options are available including a number of entrees from the Italian restaurant adjacent. My partner is a sommelier and found these wines among the best of the ten we visited during our five day trip. Make the drive. It's a beautiful space.

Had delivered a cake there and I must say they are very professional. It was wonderful working with them . They keep you up to date of times and I did call them to ensure that I was to deliver the cake at that time. They were very knowledgeable about the events that was going on.

AMANDA IS THE BEST!

The best and most fun and bubbly Amanda (she's standing in the picture) made our visit exceptional! She answered our group's many questions, suggested wines and had us laughing a lot. Oh yeah, and the vineyard and tasting room are beautiful.

Prices are reasonable. I'm not into wine and didn't order any (I go with friends for the atmosphere), so I can't comment on the wines.

This is a large estate that produces very good examples of both red and white varietals and blends. We sampled the Chardonnay and their prmiere offering called Octagon, which is a classic Bordeaux blend. The name comes from the octagonal shaped library in the ruins of Governor Barbour's mansion which lie on the estate. Apparently it was designed by Thomas Jefferson whose favorite shape was the octagon. The mansion burned in the late 1800s and the ruins have been left as they were.

The site was both scenic and peaceful. We observed two bald eagles circling above while we enjoyed our wine. There is also an impressive Italian restaurant on premises that we hope tou try if we ever get back that way again.

Wonderful winery to visit if nearby! We were staying in the area for the weekend and this winery was highly recommended. We did our wine tasting in the library 1821. The associate who assisted our table was incredibly kind and knowledgable. We each got a wine flight and we shared the small cheese charcuterie. Everything was delicious and we ended up buying several
bottles of wine.

This place is a treasure! We’ve been to many wineries in several states east of the Rockies and this is one of the best. Beautiful views and great wines! A wonderful place to relax with friends and family. Huge list of wines they have produced completely from grape to bottle. Many varieties from French and Italian grapes. Whether you like sweet, dry, red, white or bubbly, they will have something you will like. The staff is very helpful and informative. The charcuterie board was very good as well. We liked the wines some much we took home a nice selection. Highly recommended!

This place really is amazing. The tasting room is all self serve with help of a few knowledgeable wine staff to make suggestions ($15) per 6 tastings ($2.50 per ounce). Where inside at the library is $25 for the same tasting which has a more hands on service approach. The library is nice to sit with a good view and can order some food. The tasting room is perfect to grab a glass to walk around outside. The views here are gorgeous and the staff was amazing 5* service! We will definitely be back here!

Also all wine is served in a glass even for tastings which some places do not do.

I’ve never been much of a wine drinker but thought this would be a great date with my wife, who does enjoy wine. The staff was exceptional and probably some of the most knowledgeable and friendly people I’ve met from any business. They really enjoyed talking about the wine and were always eager to make sure we were accommodated. We will definitely be back and will try the restaurant next time.

One of Virginia's best. If you are near the Charlottesville area, Barboursville should be a stop. Beautiful tasting room and incredible staff that will take care of you as you sip a glass of their wine on the terrace overlooking the vineyard.

My spouse and I had a lovely experience here. We had a dinner reservation as well as a winetasting reservation at the Library 1821. We really enjoyed getting to know the staff and learning about the intricacies of the wine they produce. They had the best wine that we’ve had in Virginia and some of the best on the East Coast. We highly recommend Luca’s tasting flight. It’s a bit pricey, but you get to enjoy some real gems. If you like great wine and a beautiful atmosphere, this is a must.

I would say this is the BEST Vineyard in Virginia. Prices per bottle range from $17 up...well worth every penny. The wine selection is amazing and each has a vibrant taste. The scenery around the vineyard is beautiful. The staff was wonderful. I will be going back in a few weeks to do a photo spread. The Viognier and Rose' top contenders. My friend purchased several bottles of Merlot Reserve, I opted for a bottle of Viognier to go. I can not wait to return.

Wow. Where to begin. The views. They had to kick us out- almost. We really enjoyed the view. An exceptional place to drink wine. I’ve had wine from all over the world and don’t drink anymore but I did sample a couple of my wife’s and wow! Fantastic wine! Cheese board and bread was amazing. The staff was more than helpful and were glad to be there. They were busy! You know. Drinkers on Tuesday! Cheers!

The best wine in VA! Hannah was a wonderful hostess! The scenery is beautiful a d the I side decor is warm and comfy.

We have been here before and the location, wine, and service has all always been very good. We stopped today with on our way home from a weekend in the mountains with our 4 year old and they went above and beyond. Free snacks and crayons and paper for her and loads of attention. All on top of attentive, knowledgeable staff helping with the tastings and fantastic wine. Love!

Stopped by with my husband, parents, and our dogs on a little mini road trip. The grounds are absolutely beautiful! The bathrooms are clean! Amanda was our server. She was SO polite and friendly, which always adds to the experience! We did a tasting and ended up buying a bottle. We ordered some charcuterie, olives, and bread to go along with our wine - all tasty! They also have ice water outside, which was perfectly refreshing on such a hot day. This place is a must!

Interesting... you buy your pours in at the door, they give a card and you self-service portioned pours. So, you taste what you want at your pace.
There was a delightful woman working on 4/22. We stayed just to talk to her!
