Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club

Wonderful Hotel. We have stayed there several times in last few years, we are always very pleased. Rooms very nice, lovely views of golf course. The Bull Durham bar is the perfect place to dine in the hotel seating inside or outside.

We recently stayed at the Inn for three nights and we were pleased in every way. In the interest of full disclosure, we did not pay for our rooms as my husband was a guest of Duke University. I can say without hesitation however, that I would spend my own money to stay here and would recommend it.

The rooms have little touches that were much appreciated including a notes blotter on the desk and a well thought out bathroom design.

I didn't have a full meal but had a steak sandwich on the terrace, which was one of the best I've ever eaten. My husband loved the blush cocktail so much he had two back to back.

But the real star of the hotel is the service. The porters in particular, were so incredibly helpful and thoughtful. While in the car about to leave, Danny asked us if we wanted water for the drive and offered to take out any empty water bottles we had. That's the kind of warm service that makes guests feel special and creates repeat customers. Kudos to everyone for making our stay special but also easy.

My son and I were going to a Duke basketball game. The hotel is great. Pool, hot tub, exercise area all great. The hotel staff treated my 5 year old like a celebrity. The location is easy walking distance to Cameron Indoor. Top notch food restaurants within the hotel. Can’t wait to come back.

I've been coming to the Washington Duke Inn for nearly 16 years--we're local and it's my family's home away from home. Dinners, staycations, work meetings, girls' nights out....so many good memories thanks to Wa Duke. The staff and service are what make it so special; you won't find better service anywhere!

Excellent tea time flavors & hand appetizer s . In one of the beautifully decorated rooms in back. Waiter was excellent. Other then a bit costly ambience was great & fun with our group of ladies..

Update 2: My stay at the Washington Duke Inn was fantastic from start to finish. The front desk staff was friendly and professional and made check-in quick and pleasant. The lobby was a beautiful and welcoming space. My room was spacious and very nicely furnished. Amenities included a Nespresso coffee machine. The bathroom had elegant & modern finishes. Everything was very clean and orderly. The room was a very quiet and relaxing space. Breakfast was delicious, and the service was good.

Update 1: The Director of Special Services contacted me shortly after I left my initial review and helped me resolve the issue. The customer service was outstanding.

Initial review: I called reservations. The phone rang for over 40 minutes and they never picked up. I then called the main hotel and they just transferred me back to the non-responsive reservations line.

The Washington Duke Inn is truly a distinguished establishment for the city of Durham. Stunning architecture, incredible service and food, and the beating heart for an amazing golfing experience. This place is ABSOLUTELY worth the visit, especially during the holiday season!

So many things to love about this elegant and historic hotel. Not surprising that it's a comfortable place to rest for the night. We stayed overnight after a work event and felt like we were at home. No noise from the hall nor the rooms next door. Additionally, beautiful landscaping and friendly service.

We went to the restaurant outside without reservation. Service needs improvement and training. The food is good, especially the Shrimp and greets. It is on the expensive side, especially the drinks.

The food was delicious, the rooms were lovely, the beds are comfy, and the staff is friendly and helpful. What more could you ask for?

I stumbled on this hotel more or less by accident as I was passing through the area driving south and needed a place to spend the night. What an unexpected surprise!

The property is secluded and wooded - a peaceful oasis in Durham within Duke’s campus - with an attractive and well-maintained golf course. I paid only a few $ more for a room overlooking the course, which I’d recommend. Both the public spaces as well as the guest rooms are thoughtfully and elegantly appointed, in a sort of grand fashion that’s increasingly rare these days. Very warm, inviting and traditional in the best possible way.

During my short stay, I was able to stop by both the Bull Durham bar as well as the main dining room. Both were top quality. The bar, with its discreet and clubby style, serves up classic, reasonably priced cocktails - and there is an outdoor patio overlooking the golf course. The dining room exudes old-world elegance and is a relaxing place to spend some time after a day of travel.

Unbeknownst to me on arrival, I happened to be in town during a big Duke football weekend, and thus was one of the few guests not in town for that reason. Far from being a nuisance, it was a fun and sociable experience as a solo traveler meeting Duke alums from around the country and observing the hotel at its lively best.

No doubt I will stay here again when in the area, and would consider going out of my way to do so. It was that good.

Took my dog with me. Room was clean, service was beyond excellent. I can’t wait to come back :)

A staple for me and my family to play golf, host relatives, or get a bite to eat. The staff are always incredibly friendly and enthusiastic, and I'm happy to have this location to bring my loved ones.

I was there for business and what a great place to stay! The hotel, food, rooms, and staff were outstanding. Golf course was great. Short walk to Duke University as well as several walking trails that circle the entire property.

We stayed here for Strawbridge Studios 100 year birthday, what a beautiful, historic property. The rooms we had were a little narrow, but well appointed. The food was delicious, they catered our breakfasts and lunches, everything was fantastic. The golf course looks amazing from what I saw, but I didn’t play on it.

Couldn't be any better! Comfortable rooms, delicious food, and expert service. A real treasure for Durham.

Had an amazing stay at this hotel in Durham! The rooms were incredibly comfortable, and the service was excellent. My only suggestion would be to add more equipment to the gym. But overall, it was a fantastic experience!

Gorgeous Inn with spacious and comfy rooms. Beautiful grounds, super clean, friendly staff. Delicious restaurant on site! We loved all the amenities offered. Kid friendly!

The fairview dining room is our go to restaurant for any special occasions, or just to enjoy fantastic food.
The service is amazing, everyone is courteous, attentive and super helpful.
Menus through the different seasons are always incredible, all dishes, from appetizers to desserts, are 5 stars.

I love the WaDuke. It is so close and practical to go walk to Duke's campus. The staff is always super friendly and helpful (from the Vista breakfast restaurant), to the room service. It's always 10/10 service. Everyone in the hotel is willing to help you. The Washington Duke Inn is so pleasant it makes the rest of your trip very easy. It's always a relaxing time for me to come back to Durham, stay here and just know my experience will be pleasant. The rooms are clean, the golf course is nice. It's my favorite place!
