Convivio Restaurant

This is the best restaurant I've been to in a long time! I took some cousins who were in town and are big "foodies" from the DC & New England areas and who travel the world, and they also gave their very high praise!! The food was extremely flavorful, the service was fantastic, and the atmosphere was perfect! They were also very warm and welcoming to my service dog!

I would recommend making reservations at Convivio Restaurant. Located in Downtown Durham this place has a great ambience, perfect for a date. The dish that knocked me off my feet was the pizza. The sauce is something special on soft pillowy bread with burrata mozzarella. It is not your average Italian restaurant with the same menu items. A must try if you are adventurous with food.

This was such a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was so romantic and perfect for a date night. Can't say enough about the food! Everything so well seasoned and fresh. Dessert can't be miss, the almond cake is delicious.
You have to give this spot a visit.

Had a lovely experience here last weekend! My boyfriend and I randomly picked this restaurant and we were so happy we did. To be honest- upon first looking at the menu, we were a little underwhelmed by it's small size. However our expectations were far exceeded once we tried the food. We started with the pane & olio (some of the best bread I've had) and ordered the porchetta and the pasta special of the day as our entrees. Truly some of the best Italian dishes I've had- incredibly flavorful, expertly cooked, and notably authentic. The affogato was perfect for dessert! Overall: wonderful service, incredible food, & a lovely romantic ambiance inside.

Wow! So wonderful. The wines are unusual and extraordinary. The food exquisite. Ambience amazing. Came for valentines evening - so special, a rose on ever table to take with upon departure. Did I mention the incredible pastry chef?!

Enjoyed dinner before a DPAC show - everything was amazing!! Authentic Italian, great wine pairing and happy to enjoy 50% off a bottle! Staff was engaging and the entire experience was wonderful- will definitely return and allow more time next visit to enjoy the Convivio experience!!

I absolutely love this place! I love coming for special occasions or just for a quick dinner with a friend or loved one. It is truly authentic Italian food, and among the best I’ve had outside of Italy! The staff are also incredibly kind and attentive. I come as often as I can and still can’t get enough!!

Convivio is a truly authentic Italian restaurant, the closest we in central North Carolina can get to Italy without getting on an airplane. The food is truly exceptional. Everything is made in-house using fresh local ingredients. The antipasti are fabulous, from the charcuterie to the bresaola to the burrata. The pasta courses are all made in-house, cooked true al dente, and sauced splendidly. The mains are all seasonal, transforming meats and fish into fabulous dishes. The desserts are equally fabulous. AND, if you seek pizza, Convivio serves authentic Roman pizza, available nowhere else in this area. Guiseppi, the owner, comes from a family in Italy with three generations of experience in the restaurant business. Before opening Convivio, he ran restaurants in San Francisco and in Miami. Everything here is authentically Italian, from the locally sourced ingredients to the seasonally-changing menus to the meticulous service. Convivio is truly a unique local treasure, an oasis of authentic Italian dining, so different from all the many Italian-American restaurants that clog the Triangle's dining scene.

Authentic Italian food in the heart of Durham! The food, service, and atmosphere were all incredible. Cannot recommend this place enough... Get the Cacio e Pepe - you will not be disappointed!

I likely couldn't be happier about this experience. We were attempting to visit Pompieri one last time but they had a one-hour wait for pizza. Anyways, that wasn't happening so walking back to the car we stumbled across this spot.

The wine is a bit overpriced and I wasn't a fan of getting a bit conned into buying bread and paying extra for a bit of parmesan cheese dressing but I have only wonderful things to say for the food itself - we shared the special $35 two-course meal and had a small charcuterie and mushroom pasta. Both were to die for. Just exceptional flavors and just the right amount of food for a light dinner.

The server was also very, very nice.

I've been in this restaurant tonight 25/05. Everything was perfect, from the location to the service. The food was amazing as well and the chef is very kind! I strongly suggest this place!

My wife and I went for dinner here a few days ago. We were extremely impressed with the SERVICE! and the FOOD! The bar is wonderful and we really had a great visit here. Wish we had found earlier !

Superior care and craft in the preparation, presentation, and customer experience. The wine selection is personally selected and imported by ownership and the food is phenomenal - the pork belly/loin in particular. Wines available to take home...and we did.

Can't say enough of how much I love Convivio. This is some of the best Italian food I have ever had, and it's the perfect place for a drink after work or a nice evening out with friends. Incredible service, incredible wine list, and incredible food.

Very delicious and I will absolutely be back. The burrata Pinsa (Roman pizza) was the absolute star! The mains were a tad on the small side for the high price point but you can tell the quality of ingredients is top notch.

This place was great for dinner. I went with a colleague on a Thursday night around 6pm and it was pretty much empty. The service is very friendly and attentive and all the food was delicious. Portion sizes aren’t overly huge but are still substantial. It’s a good spot for a date night.

My group booked a wine tasting with a party of 20 guests and we had the best time. Giuseppe was extremely knowledgeable abo the wines that we tasted (and they were yummy). We also had some nice anti pasto! Can't wait to go back & try their dinner menu and experience the alley way when they get that open!!

Wandering downtown Durham I stumbled on a restaurant with no sign out front. Curious, I peeked in the door and was whisked in by the owner Giuseppe who sat me down at the bar and gave me a tasting tour of Italy’s finest food and drink. What a random Saturday afternoon!

The ambiance is something I’ve been longing for - upscale yet as comfortable as home. Everything on the menu has a story and Giuseppe enthusiastically shared the details.

At the moment it’s not a full course restaurant but apparently it’s planned (I found them during their soft opening). Fish, meat, and chicken is coming! Currently It’s a wine and cocktail bar with a tasting menu. It’s the perfect date spot, and I’m sure your family will be welcome too.

The executive chef, who came out to say hello, shared his story of working at Michelin Star restaurants and the vision to make authentic Italian - taking great care to honor food and drink the way it was meant to be. The passion for food is intense, and frankly exciting.

Don’t be fooled if you peek in the window and it feels empty, if you walk in, you’ll have one of the best meals and fine dining experiences you’ve ever had.

My sister and I sat at the bar where Barrett made us feel right at home. We got to taste multiple white wines on their list, shared a taste of the house made lemon cello. And the fish special and risotto was delicious!

Barrett also recommend a great after dinner activity, the 24 hour museum that was in our hotel and we didn’t even know it!

If we lived here, we’d go back often. Thanks Barrett!
