Steve's 51 Repair

Finally got my car to Steve's this morning to figure out why my check engine light was on. It's never a good sign when the owner comes out and gets everyone in the waiting and all the mechanics in his shop to gather round and see something you don't see every day and brings the crowd around the hood of MY car. He opens it up and it is densely packed with leaves and nuts. A squirrel made themselves a nice warm home this winter apparently and chewed through every wire under the hood. Photos attached. The absolute best around! Honest, upfront, and great to deal with. Heard about Steve’s shop from a neighbor when we moved to town almost 10 years ago, and they were absolutely right on about where to take your car for service. I desperately needed new brakes and rotors and an oil change. I was new to town and Steve fit me in, despite it being a very busy day for them, because it was my only chance - I work very long hours and this day I happened to be home sick. Because I lived nearby, he even had someone drive me home while they worked on my car and then returned it to my driveway. They were friendly and price was right. Good people. Good work. My car sounds like new.

I have sent all three of my aging vehicles to Steve's 51 over the years (2009 VW Passat, 2013 Verano, 2014 Silverado).

Lately two of my vehicles have needed major work done.

My wife's 2013 Buick Verano was consuming oil. (if anyone out there has this issue, it is in reference to bulletin 13-06-01-003H, it is a significant repair)
She was filling it with oil every 1000 miles. We took it to an unnamed dealer which the quote to do the repair would have totaled the value of the car.

With the prices of new and used cars so high. We had no choice but to do the repair.

I contacted Steve in early May advised him of the situation. His shop was booked at the time. He fit me in their busy schedule. I dropped it off after hours Sunday May 21st. His team had the repair finished by Thursday May 25. The quote for parts and labor was HALF the quoted price from a dealer.
Steve and his team saved my wife from having to buy a new car.

At the same time that week, my 2014 Silverado needed brakes, rotors and an oil change. His team took care of that as well!

Steves shop is busy (for good reason), however he is a super reasonable businessman and will make good on getting your vehicle's on the books and taken care of.

If you want honest straightforward service, Steves 51 is the place to go!

We took the exit for the Kwik Trip, and as we started off again, we heard something from under the hood. The serpentine belt was wacking around so we thought it safest to just call a local shop. I called Steve’s and he was able to get us in and out in under an hour. We appreciate you taking us so close to your closing time and helping us to get on our way! We are seriously so lucky a fair and experienced shop happened to be so close. Thank you so much!

Five stars all around. Brought a tire in for repair. Dropped everything he was doing to help me fix a flat and patch it. Didn’t charge me a nickel. A business treating others like family. They now have my business without question.

Extremely helpful, and friendly despite their being busy on a Thursday afternoon. Helped me with some codes on my car, and test drove it to reassure my car was driving properly. Highly Recommend!

Wheel bearing went out in the car on the way home from a 9 day vacation about 3 hours from home. Steve fit us in and had it perfect within an hour! Very good service! Good price and very friendly group of people. Would recommend him to all.

Steve's has always been fantastic. From the high quality service to the reasonable prices. Recently our brakes were squeaking and they solved the easy issue for no charge. They are honest and trustworthy!

I live in the Chicago area unfortunately. I was on my way to a funeral in Madison when my vehicle started to have engine problems near Edgerton. I limped into Steve's 51 and explained the situation. I got a ride to the funeral from a family member who wasn't far behind me. About 4 hours later Steve called me and said the car was repaired. Absolutely 5 star service and very reasonable price. One of the best experiences I've ever had with a repair shop.
