Donnie's Homespun Pizza

Great little pizza nook in Decatur. Had a side salad with their in-house Ranch dressing, and a 10" thin crust Chicken Pesto pizza. Also ordered the Hibiscus tea.

Usually I do thicker crust but this pizza was definitely what hit the spot for me.

Hands down the BEST vegan Rueben sandwich that I’ve ever had. The seitan is perfect, excellent mix of ingredients and large portions. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to try a savory vegan take on this classic or for the plant based connoisseur. You won’t be disappointed

I have always loved their pizza, but the brunch was next level. Their new location is so cozy and the food is luxurious! We will be regular brunchers here!

Donnie's homemade pizza and salads feature rare in-house smoked meats including salmon and prosciutto - and they are DELICIOUS! 🤩 Specialty meats sell out quickly after they're on the menu, and the salad dressings are freshly made from scratch, unlike most every other Decatur restaurant in town. Owner Neill Dresden negotiated to obtain hard to find family recipes from Italian families who have ensured their pizza crust is better than any mainstream pizza company in Central Illinois, and yes - they use different crust recipes for thin crust and deep dish. If you're not in a meat eating mood, they also serve the only quality vegan / vegetarian options that I'm aware of in Decatur. The atmosphere is also familial, and the staff will go above and beyond to handle birthday requests, inspiring everyone in the restaurant to join in with singing and celebrating. Donnie's embraces the meaning of community to Merchant Street and downtown Decatur. You'll feel like family when you eat here, and you'll feel like you belong by showing up.

Donnie’s is my favorite restaurant in Decatur! The food is fresh and tasty. Highly recommend the Sicilian thin crust pizza with in-house smoked prosciutto. The in-house smoked salmon salad with basil berry hemp vinaigrette was so refreshing. I love that Donnie’s has healthy options which I struggle to find in Decatur. The staff is welcoming and friendly, there is plenty of seating for large groups, and the new location is much easier to get to and find nearby parking.

My friends and I went there and it was the first for all of us. We each ordered separate pizzas. Unfortunately, a couple of our pizza orders got messed up, but they were still very delicious. The wait was a bit long, but I feel that was due to the fact that several of us ordered the deep dish pizza, so it's understandable for the wait. The owner saw that we had a few things messed up and came to make it right. Overall, it was a nice evening.

My husband and I went to Donnie’s tonight for dinner. This was our first visit and the food, service and atmosphere were fantastic! Donnie’s was celebrating their 15 year anniversary and the only regret I have is waiting so long to visit this establishment. Highly recommend!

Best pizza in town. A bit more expensive than the "fast food" pizza places, but more than worth the money. Great service as well. You can tell very quickly that they care about their work.

Awesome place! Love that they have so many delicious vegetarian and vegan options. Let's not forget about all the great beers on tap and bottles. I had the vegan gyro and it was really good! My husband said his Bambino was delicious too. The homemade bread took the sandwich to another level. Service was great and can't wait to come back to try the pizza!

Delicious pizza! We tried this place for the first time and got the Chicago style dough with the Scicilian specialty pizza and was pleasantly surprised. Staff was very nice and I love the artwork displayed inside. Definitely has a good vibe!

We had the best meal last night. The food was amazing! I appreciate the vegetarian and vegan options on the menu!! The staff, especially Ashley, are amazing! So nice. The kitchen staff and other servers asked how we were doing and how was our meal when they walked by our table. I would definitely recommend Donnie’s!

Great food and atmosphere! Went for Sunday brunch, got a delicious meat lovers quiche with a mimosa and enjoyed live music! Beautiful paintings hanging up. Wasn't a fan of the hummas though that a friend recommended. Too bland for me but that's a matter of opinion. Definitely going back to try the pizza some time!

Such a great place to go in Decatur. Music is always good, great beer options, and the fact that they have a vegan menu is amazing!

*Note for vegans, their red sauce for pizza has cheese in it, so plan accordingly.

Always a wonderful staff and an amazing vibe! Whether you're there for food or drinks, you wont be disappointed. They have an array of dishes that are vegetarian or vegan friendly as well as gluten free choices. Pizza, antipasto, calzones, sandwiches, or nachos are just a few of their items that I love.

They were very courteous to me. The pizza I had (sicily) was great quality, tasted fresh, and a fair price for a good quality pizza. I think I will make more frequent stops there on my weekends.
