What an amazing book shopping experience! The person working was helpful without pestering us, something really annoying as you try to read the synopses of books. Any questions we asked were answered promptly and kindly. We highly recommend this store.

Great shop with new and used books! Large selection of puzzles and other book lover gifts

I always find books that I want to read at great prices and in very good condition. It's a fun shop. Besides books, there are so many nice things; puzzles, toys, socks, and bookmarks.

This is a local treasure of a bookstore with a large assortment of both new and used books, as well as one of a kind gifts. In re to other reviews mentioning the owners hardcore mask stance, I can vouch that that has since been lifted. The employees are still mask wearers, but no demands are made on the customers, which is appreciated. The owner is a fellow book lover, and very helpful in assisting you. It is truly one of Decatur most under the radar, best local businesses for books and novelties.

Great place. Came into town from 2 hours away. As soon as we got into the store the owner told us of a big book sale going on at the Public Library a block away and that it was closing in 30 minutes if we wanted to catch it first. Blew me away that she did this. Very much appreciated. Will definitely be back.

We were looking for a Borders or Barnes and Nobles to look at healthy cookbooks. I have lots of cookbooks, but healthy ones i have 2 and ive used a lot of the recipes. This store is big. It has used and new books, puzzles, gifts, reading related posters, cups, book bags, etc. They have a dollar section of books with good titles. So glad i found this store idk how much i would have spent on the books if i ended up buying them at regular prices.

Great place for gifts. I stop in here frequently when I need a unique item for someone. The staff always seems friendly and knowledgeable.

Very friendly staff and very knowledgeable. I picked up the entire Harry Potter series and a new copy of 1984. My wife grabbed a few books for herself as well. They have plenty of books to choose from and have gifts and other items as well. Support local!

This is a wonderful, cozy store with the best staff I've encountered in a local book store. Not only do they have a good selection of books, but they have plenty of misc gifts to buy.

As much as I love the convenience and quickness of Amazon, I'd much rather buy local from Novel Ideas!

Wherever I go, whenever I travel, the first thing I do is search for local bookshops to visit. I've been to a great many over the past several decades & I must say that Novel Ideas is one of the best I've encountered in all of my travels. It's a true gem with a friendly & knowledgeable owner, a great selection & very reasonable prices. I don't know when I'll be able to return, but I certainly will. (That Dickens set is calling to me.) 🤔😉🙂

I love this little bookstore! They really have a decent sized variety of books for sale; new and used. And best of all, the employees make you feel like they truly appreciate your business.

The Proprietors of this wonderful book shop love their books and it shows. They take the time and effort to wrap hardback books in mylar jackets there are modern books as well as those from antiquity. Aside from books they have intellectual puzzles and fun ephemera for people of all ages. Novel Ideas is a wonderful and strange and lovely place

Went there one day after going to decater library nice little store full of windup toys lots of good books movies stuffed animals etc would definitely recommend has a cozy feeling inside
