What a great place to learn about American History! Our group went for the Independence Tour. We will be returning for the other tours that are offered.

Enjoyed American Village on Memorial Day. Many events scheduled for all ages. Museums open. Enactors knowledgeable & informative about life of the soldier, the patriotism displayed by Americans throughout history, early American family life, chores, games & museums focused on founding fathers. Well worth a visit! opportunity of educational resources for students ample.

Awesome history experience! I loved the reenactments and historic costumes. Lots of buildings to visit which take you to another time and place. My favorites were the Gathering Tree and the Oval Office. The grounds are beautiful and were a nice walk. There is a small fee, which Im sure supports the staff and upkeep. I wish i had arrived when they opened because we missed some of the reenactments. There are restrooms throughout the grounds.

A place with a lot of fun. Definitely love that movie—staff told us that they shot it during Covid 90% inside the Village!

Incredible atmosphere created by dedicated role players and top notch grounds. If your kids have an interest in history, or you want to ignite a spark, take them here.

Holidays are even better with a plethora of food trucks and programming.

A drive though the adjacent Alabama National Cemetery will add an even deeper narrative of patriotism.

Such an amazing center that gets us to think what our life will be like in the 18th century! I’m able to see the specific challenges and struggles of various different social groups at the historical time period. I love the 10:30am session where clothing in 18th century was discussed, 11am session where medicinal herbs was taught, 11:30am session where continual Army was acted out, and 12:30pm Liberty was discussed in Massachusetts. Bravo to all these characters! Their professionalism allowed me to fully immerse myself in the scenarios, and I’m very grateful and happy about this experience.

I like to visit American Village. They have a tulip festival every year. I like it very nice. You can dig your own tulip, $2 dollars per tulip. Also, this year, each person has to pay $5 dollars per admission to enter the tulip festival. I don't remember that they had admission 2 years ago. I think it's kind of expensive if you enter with our family. Maybe they should do at least $5 dollars per family, not per person. Well, it's still pretty to visit on a sunny day.
They have a nice Christmas lunch with acters wearing nice clothes from old time. We were visiting every year before Covid-19.

We visited on a week day when no special activities were scheduled. Even then there were presentations by actors in period dress who explained history we didn't know or even thought about. The grounds were immaculate as were the buildings. All the brass doorknobs and lock sets were polished. Being a veteran our admission was free. I was so impressed that, before we left, we stopped back at the reception center and made a donation. American Village is well worth the time to visit. We will be returning when it is our main destination Instead of a side trip.

We've been to their fourth of July celebration for the last 2 years and enjoyed it so much. I love history and I see my young granddaughters enjoying learning about it too and just love the patriotism displayed by everyone there. We live in the greatest country and are so blessed to be here. Love love love the fireworks too.I would definitely recommend visiting American Village.

Excellent!! You need to come experience American Village and bring your children. The re-enactors are perfect. They look the part in authentic costume. They sound the part with time period accents. They stay in character perfectly. And they are extremely knowledgeable about all the information related to their role. Not to mention, friendly, personable, and helpful. A wonderful hands on way to experience American history. Plan a trip today. You will not be disappointed.

I so enjoyed the trip to American Village in Montevallo. We got to visit several of the buildings, and in each we saw a play about the meeting, courtship and marriage of George and Martha Washington. The actors were in period costumes and were good, comfortable in their roles. It was a delightful experience and included a delicious lunch. Even though it was well attended, it all worked like a well-oiled machine. As a bonus, the drive from Tuscaloosa was through a beautiful part of Alabama.
