Krekel's West

It is one of the best places in Decatur to get side by side ice cream. My favorite strawberry/banana. Staff is always friendly. They also allow you to buy bags of ice, which is great for smoothies.

Love the food. I never have been disappointed coming here. Don't worry about the wait in drive through that's just because they are that good everyone wants some.

Krekel's has one of the best smashburgers that I have ever had. I have never had anything but amazing food and service from the Decatur location. The flavor the burger is so good that I get my plain with no cheese or condiments. They use a great seasoning mixture and cook it to perfection with the edges being crispy and it still stays juicy. I highly recommend pairing it with one of the custard malts and you have the perfect indulgence meal. The staff is always so upbeat and polite. It is one of my favorite hamburger spots of all time.

The cashier here lied to me! She said the best thing about Decatur was the university. This isn’t true! She left off the double cheeseburger here at Kreckel’s!

Come in and expect a clean restaurant with friendly staff, delicious burgers and chicken sandwich. Everything was fresh!

I could tell my burger was cooked on a very hot grill because it had a delicious little bit of char on it and great peppery taste. I thought the double had a good meat to bun ratio. The fries were crispy out and soft inside.

I hope I get a chance to come back and try more around the menu!

JUST finished a #2 from here so this review is fresh, much like their burgers! Delicious sandwich, reminiscent of Five Guys, crispy fries, and a cherry shake to finish it up. The shake was a bit more watery than I like but if you mix it up with your straw, it's fine. All in all, great food, quick service, and a great first experience. I'll be back in the future!

I got a Jumbo pork tenderloin and fries. The sandwich was on point as always, the fries were over cooked but still good! Will be back again before the week is out.

Burgers, rings and shakes were great! Fries were cold. Still a treat. And a great price. Wish Krekel's was closer!

Burgers and shakes are amazing. Fries are extra crispy! Well worth the wait! They are running out and taking orders for curbside when the drive up line is too long. Kids were really hustling!

I've never had any issues with the quality or accuracy of the food. It's always been fresh and amazing!!
But the service has went downhill over the years and especially in the last year.
The location on Oakland is the absolute worst! 45 min drive thru wait times. And staff that blatantly do care!!!

Krekels has been part of our family for as long as I can remember. Even though we've moved to the St. Louis area, when we come back for a visit it's always Krekels hands down!! I used to Eat here nearly every week after church. It was the best hamburger of my childhood and coming back for a visit, the first place on my list to eat. And it did not disappoint!

The food is amazing. Staff is always very nice and helpful. Definitely the best Krekles in town. I would expect nothing less from the original!

We LOVE Krekel's and are so happy we found them. They have the BEST milkshakes (custard) and they have so many varieties. The line for this place is usually long and they seem to always be busy, and now I know why.

This is one of THE best burger joints around. I always get a triple cheese and it never disappoints. Never had a bad burger from there compared to the hit and miss of other places. Highly recommend Krekels to any and all. If you're traveling from anywhere that doesn't have a krekels, please do yourself a favor and get some food here. I almost forgot about how amazing their ice cream is!! Get some ice cream too!!

Visiting Decatur from St. Louis, I went to Krekel's for the first time last night. I was apprehensive when I saw the staff was all kids, but they proved me wrong with fast, friendly service. It looked like they were having a good time at work, and that's refreshing to see.

Our food came out fast and was delicious! I had a triple with cheese combo and my sister had a double. We both bought shakes. Everything was on point, and I spent less than $30. If you're like us and haven't seen a Krekel's before, the burger patties are smashed like Steak N Shake or Freddie's.

Krekals is the best! Even when everywhere else went up to outrageous prices, Krekals still kept it affordable. The food is so good. The staff is fast, friendly, and efficient. The only complaint is the super long wait time in the drive thru but to be fair, they are almost always packed at lunch time. Love this Decatur staple!

Late Thursday night and the drive through was packed. Still food was excellent. Love that I can still get a cherry sprite. Chicken sandwich is different than I remember but for the better.

Amazing desserts... This was the strawberry shortcake treat... Under $5... Friendly staff... Would definitely go back again.!!

Stopped in for a snack as it was late when we got to town. We were surprised and happy to see the long line at the drive thru at 9:30 at night. Always a great sign of great food when they are that busy at 9:30! Friendly service, shirt wait time and we tried the suggestions we found online: jumbo pork tenderloin sandwich, lemon ice cream and strawberry/chocolate ice cream. The sandwich was ok, just very dry :-( it needed more sauce or mayo. The lemon ice cream was AMAZING just as everyone had said online. The strawberry was really good but the chocolate was not very chocolaty. All in all it was really tasty and we will be back for lemon ice cream in the future!
