Wonderful campground with amazing hosts! We had a full hookup site right next to the camp store and it was huge. The campground is very clean, the owners were out working every day we were there. We saw them grating the roads, chopping wood and cleaning every day. It's 15 minutes from michigan adventure and about 30 from Silver Lake Sand Dunes. We did both. I'm glad we found this place, we will be back. The owners were kind and helpful from the minute we got there. He helped me back my trailer in, they sold me some firewood even tho they were closed which was so helpful we would have been left without a campfire the first night, and they let me use their portal compressor to fill my low trailer tires. Highly recommend this camp ground, kid and family friendly, tons to do!

This campground is the cleanest, most organized campground I've been to! I was especially impressed by all that the campground has to offer such as many games, a stocked camp store, and even a dish washing station. It was clear that the owners put a lot of thought and care into the place. They go above and beyond with their service and open communication.
I only spent one night there, but they were kind enough to let me reserve a campsite despite the campground not being open yet for the season. I'm looking forward to returning for a longer stay sometime soon!

The family that runs this is very nice. They really made us feel welcome. We got in really late and had to set up the tent in the dark. They came over to make sure we hadn't had any problems setting up. That definitely wasn't necessary, but it was appreciated that they cared. We will definitely be staying here again when we come this way in the future. The grounds itself are very nice and clean.

Great experience! My husband, two sons and I stayed 2 nights in one of the rental trailers and it was perfect for us. The owners were very nice and helpful. The trailer was very well taken care of and comfortable. The campground had a laid back atmosphere and almost all shaded with tall trees. This is a perfect place to stay if you are planning a trip to Michigan's Adventure only 20 minutes away. There is a public access to Big Blue Lake across the street and a sandy spot to swim. This place exceeded our expectations and we will definitely be back.

We absolutely loved this family owned and operated campground. They made home made strawberry ice cream for everyone in the campground. They had a scavenger hunt for the kids. The campground was exactly what we were looking for, smaller campground with roomy sites. Didn't feel like a sardine in can like we've had at other campgrounds. The owners were fantastic, the friendliest people I've met in long time. They were just like everyone said in previous reviews. We literally felt like we stay at a friend's property. New electrical on sites. Lakes right down the street. We we're even able to find morels on the property. We will definitely be returning for another visit. Thank you guys for such a wonderful visit. See you soon

Friendly management and beautiful place with generous size wooded lots. Clean well maintained bathrooms with a general store for basics. Thanks for a memorable relaxing labor day weekend!. River though treacherous with the fallen trees was a beautiful experience. Lake access for sunset was as relaxing as you could possibly want! Dave was also very helpful with coordinating pickup from kayaking excursion.

It was a great stay! The campsite is big. The showers and toilets are basic, but very clean and functional. The owners are nice and friendly. It is close to a street (not a highway, just a small road), so you can very occasionally hear traffic in the night. Lots of trees around. We saw lots of birds in morning - woodpeckers, goldfinches, etc. Definitely recommend.

Oak Knoll has become a favorite for our family. We have our 4th trip scheduled for later this summer. Nothing overly fancy - just good old camping with the basics!

The crew is helpful and available, often walking the grounds to improve areas or take out trash. I have come to appreciate that type of dynamic vs the "host site" type of campground management that offers little communication. They even offered to help us back in our camper and problem solve when we left our key at home (face-palm!)

I really appreciate the washing station that allows for easy clean up after meals. Bathrooms are always clean and stocked. The store is surprisingly well stocked for how small it is. I think the prices for inventory and wood are reasonably competitive. If we forget things they don't have, the local store is not too far.

The site sizes vary. Sometimes it is nice to have more room. Other times it's nice to be closer to the fellow campers you booked with.

I do not worry about the safety of my kids at Oak Knoll. Kiddos are at the playground, riding bikes, etc. Reckless behavior does not seem to be tolerated. Quiet hours seem to have been enforced during our 3 trips so far (and if there were problems, we were unaware!)

The lake across the street is absolutely gorgeous. It has a very small beach access, but it's just enough to enjoy some time swimming, watching boats, launching kayaks, launching boats, etc. If you are going for beach or picnic, bring a chair or a blanket because there is more grass/gravel than sand.

The campsites are great. They look newly cleared and leveled. The facilities are very nice and clean. But by far the best thing about this campground was the service. They went above and beyond over and over again to make sure we had the best time. We even forgot our kayak paddles and they found us a pair to use. Great campground and we will definitely be back.

Oak Knoll Family Campground is great, I highly recommend it! David, Jen, Brenda and Tom are all very helpful and friendly. They definitely make you feel very much at home, at least I know I sure did. Even without the free homemade ice cream on Saturday evening and the always available coffee, this is a great place to camp. The setting is awesome, completely wooded and shaded, with good sites for tent or trailer campers. My 32 foot trailer easily fit on Lot 8. There are many things to do right around the corner or within an easy 20 to 30 minute drive. I enjoyed running in the area around the campground as well as riding trails over by Muskegon and Montague. Happy Mohawk River Adventures is right nearby as is Big Blue Lake with easy access for boating and swimming. I will definitely camp here again when I'm in the area, and may even make Oak Knoll a specific destination for another camping trip. Thanks to David and his friendly family!

I camp all over MI, IN, and MO and usually camp 35-50 nights every camping season. My friend and I decided to drive a couple hours north and try the township park nearby, however the sites there were too close together and it was too crowded for our personal tastes, so we started driving around looking at other options.

We usually shy away from family/private campgrounds because in my limited experience with them, they tend to have so many rules and the sites are crammed so close together that it just doesn't make it fun. I enjoy being in the woods surrounded by trees and nature, not being surrounded by my super close (often loud) neighbors.

If you feel the same as me, I would suggest giving the Oak Knoll Family Campground a try. All members of the family that have owned this place for the last 4 years are awesome, friendly people. The campsites are all a decent size with a nice amount of trees all around. Many sites have water and electricity, some just have electricity (20A) and some rustic sites in the back area. There are also some seasonal campsite that were well maintained. Many of the electric/water sites are right by the road, however the traffic is not heavy at all, and is pretty much non existent once it gets into the evening. The owner told me they will be installing electric at more sites in the near future (COVID delayed that project from happening last spring) Cell service (Verizon) is VERY spotty in pretty much most areas of the campground as far as data goes, public WiFi is not available to my knowledge. This was not a problem to me and if you had a cell signal booster it would probably get you decent signal because I kept getting notifications on my phone, I just didn't have enough signal to open them. I personally am fine with enjoying a few days unplugged from social media though.

I didn't use the restrooms, however my friend did and he said they were always very clean and well maintained. The family owns 4 chickens and lets them free range around the campground. I enjoyed watching them walk around scratching in the leaves for bugs. They will gently take food from your hand if you offer it to them (please make sure it is safe, healthy food for them though, ask the owners if you have any doubt) The owners told me they eventually want to have a community garden and a few more animals that kids can interact with. There is a nice short trail in the back part of the campground that has a fun scavenger hunt for kids (and adults) If you want to kayak or use a boat, there is a public boat launch just across the street. For any other things to do in the area, just ask the owners. They are very happy to help you find fun things in the area to do.

There was only 1 or 2 other parties staying in the campground during the 3 nights we were here so it was extremely quiet. After labor day is always my favorite camping time of the year. I will for sure be back next year at some point. Keep up the great job that you are doing with this place!

Great family campground. While it is an older campground it has new owners, whether they or previous owners are responsible for repainting the restrooms and camp store it sure is nice to have very clean and well maintained facilities. Really friendly and accommodating host.
I would have only this suggestion to them for future consideration, if they ever replace or add on to the main building put in handicapped toilet and shower. Also hope the plan to add electric at least to the sites toward the back of the campground, would have loved to be up against the woods.

When it’s family run it’s top notched service and pride of ownership is apparent everywhere! The location is beautiful and convenient to many lakes. We stayed in camper 22 and it was perfect. New clean comfortable spacious! Also the facilities are well kept too.

Such an amazing campground! The owners were so helpful, going out of their way to help us find things to do in the area. We also had an issue with food we were cooking over our fire and the owner went back to his own house and brought us a pan to use for the night! They were so kind and accommodating. Beautiful campground!

We have had the pleasure of staying at Oak Knoll twice in the last few weeks. The owners are exceptionally accommodating and after our first stay we knew we would return. The grounds are very quaint, clean rest rooms and very comfortable, modern trailers to rent. We look forward to our next visit!

Such a marvelous place to camp. The new owners have been working hard to fix up the place, very friendly. The bathrooms and showers are clean and maintained. No stinky smelly water. You can tent, van, rv and cabin camp. They hosted a ice cream social for the children. Water, electric is included with the reasonable price. We will be back to camp again. We highly recommend this place.

Love the place. Nice, family own. Clean.
The staff is friendly and helpful.
They are looking to grow, an offer other amenities.
They have rental cabins on site. Pool, food, Landry, showers, & a little country store.
It is a great camping spot.
You can have a plan site. Electric & water. Or just electricity. Or get one of their nice cabins.
Camp fire, and pets allowed.
An the prices are not bad.
