If you love history and homesteads, you gotta stop by. ESPECIALLY during the open houses. The Rangers LOVE this stuff and have so much additional knowledge to share about, not just this homestead, but the way people lived at the time as a whole.

Getting to stop by here and learn so much was really special, and the area is just so peaceful. The walk through the woods between the homestead and parking lot is really, really tranquil. It makes you wanna move right in 😂

Always enjoy learning about the past... Nice place to walk around to see the original house, garden, fruit tree and ground. Level to walk. Place did offer accessible parking for folks that need dropped off closer.

Interesting piece of history here. Lovely, peaceful walk thru the woods to the homestead...just looked around, the house wasn't open when we went.

We visited this Acadia NP site to complete the Junior Ranger Program with our children. The rangers on staff were super friendly, engaging, and knowledgeable. The grounds were interesting and well maintained. Highly recommended for families with young children.

A great glimpse into life on a Maine island in the 19th century. Lots to do and see - very kid friendly. We cut wood with a two-person saw, there were crafts and junior ranger activities, and a tour of the home.

Found this place on a day with an “open house.” Exceptional volunteer NPS Rangers were engaging and informative about this jewel of a historical house. The kids had fun, too!

Had a blast with a 6.5 and 4.5 yr old. Enjoyed it all from the dress up, to the games and the tour of the house. Highly recommend! We spent about an HR and then saw a deer on our way out! Love it

It was really neat to see a 19th century home. Neat things to do here. Try on 19th century clothing and play kids games. Neat little path to get to the house.

Beautiful building and old homestead! We visited during one of the ranger open houses and it was a fantastic time.

A fantastic experience and a must visit spot if you're already visiting Acadia National Park. The house itself is charming and the surrounding property is full of interesting bits of information. I highly recommend going when there is a Ranger onsite so that the house is open for viewing which is (at the time of writing) on Wed, Thur, and Fri from 9 AM to 2 PM. No tickets or admission cost.

Make sure to go on a day when the Rangers will be there! Then the information plaques are on display, you get to enter the house and see the inside, hear about the homesteaders, play a couple of old-fashioned games and more! This is a good activity for any age group. Fun!

A nice look into an 1800s home. They had lot of 1800s games set up to help get kids interested. Definitely go while the rangers are there!

Short walk from parking lot to the homestead. Informative talk from the ranger. As they stated, it was a nice picture of the other side of Bar Harbor from the wealthy homes along the coast.

Make sure to go when the rangers are there to tell you about life on the homestead. It was extremely informative and incredibly fun.

The national park volunteer and Ranger who were working when we came to visit did a wonderful job explaining the history of the property as well as interacting with the kids!
