A nice quiet little place to enjoy a meal. Food was absolutely superb. You can definitely taste the Freshness and quality of the Fish. Overall great dining experience

I am a discerning if not an adventurous sushi eater. So much of what is sold as sushi - in supermarket coolers, etc - is really fairly mediocre — it serves the purpose of reminding me of the *actual* good sushi : a place holder in my mind and palate.
Hana Sushi in Red Hook (shyly tucked behind Holy Cow Ice Cream of all places) is the genuine thing. A real treat!

This is a legit sushi spot. The owner has been a sushi chef for 40+ yrs. His lovely wife runs the front of house. Pop in for a serene, delicious, dining experience.

I was a bit skeptical to go out for sushi in upstate NY but it more than exceeded our expectations. The sushi was fresh and the quality was better than most places in the city. Service was fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone looking for quality sushi.

Had an excellent experience here! The atmosphere was very inviting and couple working (I presume they are the owners), were welcoming and gracious. The sushi was fresh and delicious and very reasonable prices. Highly recommend!!

Really excellent sushi - I had the deluxe which came with miso and salad. They are very sweet. The place looks pleasant and quiet, but mine was to go.

The sushi is authentic and fresh. It always tastes good. They are friendly and meticulous. It's wonderful to have in Red Hook. We've done take out and eaten there.

Tonight was our first time tasting Hana Sushi. Due to Covid they are only doing takeout, but when I stepped inside to get my order I knew this was the real deal. Our order was late and we had to wait 20 minutes but it was completely worth it. This was the best sushi I have eaten in decades. We ordered an assortment of rolls and one piece of mackerel sushi which was the best piece of mackerel I have had in 40 years. We will definitely be back.

I’ve been coming here for years! The sushi is authentic and fresh. It always tastes delicious! The tempura is amazing as well! The people who work here are polite and friendly. I’ve never had an unpleasant experience here. You won’t be disappointed if you go here! Absolutely wonderful!

The sushi is amazing! I also love their food in general. The staff is always nice. I love having this place in Red Hook. It can be hard to find good sushi and this place hits the spot.

Really good sushi. Little expensive. Worth the extra money. I do wish that they offered more little combos and dinner specials that didn't have so much in them that were just maybe a few rolls that you could mix and match to your liking. Similar to other sushi places.

Authentic Japanese-owned Sushi Restaurant.

I currently live in Westchester County, but I drive the hour and a half up to Red Hook so I can eat their sushi.

Very peaceful atmosphere and not overly priced.

The sushi chef really makes an effort to buy fresh fish and products.

You won't see too many crazy modern rolls- just a great array of the traditional. (Although they do have a red hook roll that I absolutely love!)

If you need it fast, order take out. It’s not the place to go if you want to sit and eat quickly.

It’s also not the best for big groups of people, the sushi will take longer to make. My family and I don’t mind waiting. We just talk about life and eat appetizers.

Enjoy their complimentary tea :)

I grew up with Japanese neighbors and married a Japanese national, so I'm quite picky when it comes to sushi. This place is unpretentious, yet has excellent food and service. The dishes are ALL authentic, delicious, and generous in portions (for sushi). The chiefs are all born and raised in Japan, but they are now truly locals, as their kids grew up in Red Hook. Eat here to support a local family business while getting a truly Japanese experience!

We enjoy Hana Sushi and have become regulars there. Udon bowls and sushi along with Teriyaki, Negimaki and other classic Japanese dishes are consistently good. This is a very nice, family-owned restaurant that takes good care of its customers.

As a former New Yorker I had never had eaten sushi and or sashimi in a restaurant located in a strip mall. Eighteen years ago there were limited options for Japanese restaurants in Dutchess County, so I decided to give Hana a try and I'm thrilled I did. I was so surprisingly impressed by the intimate dining space, the high quality of the delicious food and the overall experience.

The master sushi chef and owner consistently buys the freshest fish. His preparation of the sushi and sashimi is always delicious and presented beautifully. I also would highly recommend their Hijiki (a black seaweed salad), which is made by the Chef and is a stable of all high quality and authentic Japanese restaurants.

I truly adore the wait staff!!! They as always very professional, organized, friendly, sweet and service oriented. As a a result I've been a loyal customer ever since 2002!!!!.With Gratitude To Hana Sushi!!!!!!!

I went to Bard College (10 minutes up the road) for four years, and this place was one of the very few off-campus restaurants I frequented. Fabulous sushi from two great chefs from northern Japan. There's not much else to say about it, really. A friend from Boston, while he was in the area, visited the place at my suggestion and said "I wasn't expecting to find such a good sushi place in such a small town". That about sums Hana Sushi up.

Excellent sushi and tempura dinners. Very nice staff and elegant, comfortable restaurant. I overlooked this place before because it’s out of the main drag, but now it’s my favorite sushi place in the region!

This restaurant is owned and run by authentic Japanese staff. This makes a big difference to the quality of the ingredients and service and the resulting flavors.

We had the combination rolls, salmon teriyaki Bento box, vegetable tempura udon, Philadelphia rolls.

Highly recommended.

I worked here for many years and I'll tell you (now that I am no longer employed there) in my slightly biased opinion, that Iwamoto-san is the real deal. Great authentic sushi and Japanese restaurant. You can always tell by the miso soup! The ginger-carrot dressing is amazing, made in house and not too sweet like other places. For the sashimi lover, I recommend the sunomono appetizer and the chirashi. It has a little bit of everything for an awesome price. For those who don't like raw fish, that's ok. They have plenty of cooked sushi and other dishes like Tempura Udon with its homemade broth, or the Beef Bowl. On busy days, service can be a little slow...because everything is made fresh to order and they only have one master chef. But I guarantee it is worth the wait!
