We were there for our 56th Anniversary. The meal and service were great. We sat in the Tavern. We go there every year and have never been disappointed. This year was especially awesome because a wonderful person paid for our meal and it wasn’t cheap.. who does that? What a wonderful surprise. Thank you to the wonderful person that did that, very much appreciated .

The quiet, dining room in "the Barn" made the perfect evening to celebrate my mother in law's birthday dinner. Three gals accommodating everyone in the place did not delay the meal, drinks or desserts. I've waited longer for service with three times the staff in other restaurants! Personable and attentive. The prime rib was outstanding. Vegetables grown in the owner's (chef) garden. Good portion and good drinks. I'm coming back with more family! Thanks 1686!

Never disappoints! Except when we miss getting oysters-they are so good and it is the most popular item so we understand.

What a wonderful restaurant and lounge! We eat some wonderful entries at the bar and had some delicious drinks!
Since moving into the area I’ve been wanting to go here as Ive found out it was a favorite hang of a great ancestor of mine “Joshia Bartlett” though from what I learned the tavern had been burned down to make way for the expansions to what what is there now! Still it was a joy. Lots of private rooms for private functions and weddings. Very much early New England charm! Even the ladies powder room was done in a cute and feminine cottage style. Definitely check it! It was really quite the Thursday night we were there.

We didn't have a Res but stopped here last night for a Birthday Celebration. So glad we did as the food is excellent! I had the Seafood Bisque loaded with large chunks of fish and the Tenderloin Steak cooked to perfection this just melted in your mouth! Make sure you order the green beans delicious! She had the Shrimp Stuffed Haddock also excellent! Strong and large glass Martini's! Great House Wine! Mariah was our server very attentive we had a very nice quiet table. Great Restaurant we will be back!

We had an excellent meal and cannot wait to come again. The oyster Rockefeller and stuffed shrimp were outstanding! People should flock to this place. Hidden gem!!!

I absolutely love the back bar area. The atmosphere is very cozy. The waitress is a hoot! The food is great! I tried the shrimp stuffed haddock and I give it 5 stars. We make this a weekly dinner date night. And the punch drink is oh sooooo good!

Sunday brunch is awesome! Great selection of dishes, sides and healthy items. All delicious. Waitstaff is so friendly and patient. Perfect spot for a languid, quite brunch. Decor is beautiful and atmosphere very calming.

We have been going here on and off for several years around the holidays since they seat until 7:00PM

Last night (Christmas Eve) we were seated in the “Barn Room” with several others. Service was exemplary and the food was wonderful.

The location had seemed a bit “tired” in the past. However, it has been spruced up a bit since our last visit. Try it out. You will not be disappointed.

We met a most wonderful couple this evening, Wayne and Lisa from Derry. But our evening started with a most gracious hostess who gave us a historical tour of this charming restaurant situated within the oldest home in Kingston. We ate lightly because we’d had a late breakfast so it was a French onion soup to satisfy Gina’s craving!!!😁 we wish we’d gotten a future contact number for Wayne and Lisa...but we did tell them where we are building so hopefully they’ll stop by and let us entertain them!! Super nice folks!!! It made our experience so much more memorable. Our waitress was so very sweet and accommodating along with a perfect knowledge of the menu!! We highly recommend the Kingston 1686 House!! We’ll certainly return as often as possible! They also have a Sunday morning Buffett for only $9.99!!

Such a very warm and inviting restaurant. There is a fire place in the middle of the room which makes the atmosphere wonderful. The food was amazing. I recommend the escargot. And the staff was pleasant.

This place is awesome. Great food. Give it a try. You won’t be disappointed

They're wonderful people with a great product. Their back of house staff only cooks quality, and their wait and barstaff is always the best in hospitality.

Wonderful breakfast buffet! Staff was super friendly, food was great and the selection was great too! I highly recommend this place. I would give more stars if it allowed me.

I love this place! The food is always good and the owners are fabulous!! I recommend to anyone going by thinking it is a stuffy type of place. It's gorgeous and has something for everyone

The food is good, the atmosphere is warm and the staff is always friendly. They have a nice little gift shop with mostly handmade items, which is really sweet.

Amazing veal cordon blue.. one of the best prime ribs in NH in a classy classic environment... I go out of my way to stop in for a bite at least once every other week or so..
