The Downstairs

This is my go-to bar in Ithaca. They definitely have the coolest shoes and events. There's always neat art up on the walls. The bar tenders are always really friendly, and the owner is so cool!

Ashley Cake, creator & owner of the wonderful Watershed, has converted the downstairs space into a terrific venue for terrific music, spoken word, comedy,
open mikes, you name it. Lots of great taps, wine, etc. The staff is great, and there’s something different going on almost every evening. And it has rapidly become my favorite place…Check it out!

Myself and some friends rented out a pod party at this bar back in the fall and it was an incredible experience! The staff went out of their way to make sure we had a comfortable and enjoyable experience and the drinks and bar snacks were incredible! As a queer person, I've always felt incredible safe and welcomed at The Watershed (same owners as this bar), and I can say without a doubt this bar feels equally as safe and welcoming.

The Watershed and The Downstairs are by far my favorite bars I've ever been to and I currently live in NYC.

I just recently went to the Downstairs, about a week ago,and figured I should write a review, since we enjoyed ourselves so much!
I'm not even much of a beer drinker, I love my whiskey, but it sounded like such a cool spot, I had to check it out and it did not disappoint.
Loved the beers they had on tap, it was super clean, the industrial vibe is so on point.
I just might have to become a regular, at this underground establishment!

Super friendly bar with a wonderful community. Many fun events happen here like the stand up open mics, improv comedy, poems and music performances.

This bar is an absolute gem. The atmosphere is immaculate and accepting. The menu is interesting and well curated and the bartenders are extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. I would recommend letting them guide you thru your drink options, you will not be sorry!!! Not only that this bar is a pillar in the community promoting inclusion, safety, living wage and the local economy. You will not regret your patronage and will easily find yourself a regular as I once was.

One of the best places to hangout in town. 💗 The owner and all the bartenders are welcoming and so are the people that come for open mics.

Being a craft beer fan, and a fan of The Watershed, I was excited to hear about The Downstairs. They built out a really nice space, a special reprieve. I'm looking forward to seeing how it grows as restriction are lifted. And, 16+ taps guys. 👌

Loved this little spot that reminds me so much of my old NYC open mic coffeehouse (RIP DTUT). Kind of wish they'd scrap the red curtains as the distressed wall aesthetic is awesome. A special place in special city.

I was so curious about The Downstairs and was so pleasantly surprised when I finally had the opportunity to check it out. Ashley and everyone bartending did an amazing job providing us with a top notch experience. I am always at awe when I see how intentional everything is at this bar. Thank you all for providing us this space in the community!

Gorgeous space with a wonderful selection of drinks and snacks and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend! Love that the Watershed has expanded to create this wonderful new space for larger groups!

Comedy Open mic every 1st and 3rd Tuesday 7pm to 9pm. Cool owner and staff plus Cool people on and off the stage. Come check it out yourself.

The Downstairs is a true gem of a place here in Ithaca:) The owners truly care about their space and customers. Go for the liquids and snacks, and fall in love with the amazing people.

Fast service, excellent atmosphere, and delicious drinks.

We had an outing at Downstairs for our team and it was the perfect atmosphere, GREAT service and AHHHHHMAZING Beer selection!

Wonderful bar with wonderful staff! Incredible selection of beers on tap, literally something for everyone!

Gracious and knowledgeable bartender, great selection in a cozy (CLEAN) environment....what's not to like?!?!
