Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is such a unique and beautiful zoo to visit. It is the only zoo that is built upon a mountain side. This makes this particular zoo very unique because of the elevation change that you get when visiting the zoo. You can be higher on the mountain side and look over the rest of the zoo sitting below you. They have a lot of very spacious and well put together enclosures with many different and unique species of animals. I would highly recommend visiting the giraffe feeding area, where they is a tall boardwalk setup that you can walk around and be at the giraffes height and feed them by hand. I've visited many zoos and this one is probably the most unique and cool zoo to check out.

This is an AWESOME zoo! There's a big variety of animals and several opportunities for animal interaction. You can feed some of the animals and many of them you get to see up close. The tiger walked right up to the viewing window it was great. Big animals like elephants hippos and rhinos, small animals and reptiles like snakes, lizards, penguins, birds and many in between. It is up and downhill but it's so worth the walk.

This zoo is AMAZING! 5 star experience. Beautiful, clean, lots of interactive areas, clean bathrooms at every turn. Reasonable food prices. Very active animals and friendly staff. Feeding the giraffes was so fun and the first thing you walk in to upon entry. We’ve been to several larger zoos but this one takes the cake. Winding paths up and down the mountain made it unique to other zoos.

I've been to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo a total of four times while I was stationed at Fort Carson, CO. I got the privilege of visiting the wonderfully cared for animals on Christmas day 2023 during the beautifully orchestrated Electric Safari event; I've been to two Electric Moonlight events; and one "regular" visit with my mother. Nothing is "regular" about this zoo!! Every time I got to visit, it was a new experience! I highly recommend a membership, and the advance ticket system works splendidly! All the staff is warm, kind, knowledgeable, and professional - you can tell they love the animals! The interactive experiences are fun for all ages!

This is a must do when in the area. Feeding the giraffes was definitely a highlight, but having the pleasure of almost being nose to nose with mating penguins...AMAZING!!! I absolutely recommend driving up to the shrine (this is included with your zoo pass admission) as a delightful addition to the zoo. They are a non-profit that does not rely on tax income. So feel free to spend 💰 for a good and fun cause.

Went to the Electric Safari and wow it is so beautiful! They had an amazing drone show that was so cool! One of my favorite zoos. I love that you can interact with the animals. Feeding the giraffes is my favorite part :) Highly recommend going there anytime. But the Electric Safari was so much fun.

Everyone says this zoo is amazing, and that it is... It's not the biggest zoo, but you can tell that the people in charge and the workers really do care. We went on a snowy weekend and it was quiet, which was nice. I think we saw maybe just over a dozen other people while we were there.
We fed the giraffes the wallabies were laying about, the tiger and mountain lions were stalking their care takers, and the wolf's were howling. I'm not sure if we just won the lottery on the day we came, but it was great. Definitely will be back again. No wonder people recommend this zoo left and right.

YOU MUST FEED THE GIRAFFES!!! Its amazing!!

We are members this year, and we love it! We live in Castle stock, so the distance from our house and the drive to Denver Zoo vs Cheyenne mountain zoo are very similar times frames, so we purchased this membership this year! Interactive and hands-on experiences are amazing. I can’t say enough how freaking cool it is feeding the giraffes!! They even have a very young giraffe right now and she’s so sweet!!
This most recent time we went for the Safari lights and it was so fun!! The drone show was so cool!!!

Was great to be able to finally visit after hearing wonderful reports of the experience.
Visited with a toddler and a 7 year old who loved the experience especially feeding the giraffes (take cash for the lettuce) and the budgies!
If you have a toddler bring a STROLLER or something they can be carried with or your biceps are going to get a workout at altitude!
For any South Africans feeling homesick you can see the penguins from Boulder Beach!

This is one of the best zoos we have visited. The fact that is is built on a mountain was amazing. We went on 10/8/2023, the weather was great and the animals were active. Their enclosures seemed like their natural habitats. But even if the animals were not as active, the scenic views are breath taking. Love how they made look out spots to take the sites in. I have already recommended this place to other friends and family making a trip to Colorado Springs. We are from Bryan, Texas and would definitely go again when we make a trip back that way.

We've been to a ton of zoos, and this is definitely one of our favorites. You can feed the giraffes or the elephants. There are lots of opportunities to get close to a lot of the animals. I highly recommend checking this Zoo out!

I had a buy one get one free coupon. My parents, husband, and I spent three hours at the zoo for $24. It's not a bad way to spend your afternoon. This is the best zoo, especially since it's on a mountain. If you haven't been and have wanted to go, do it.

My husband and I agreed that this is the best zoo we’ve been to this far. There is active construction on the roads but it doesn’t take away from the fun. Feeding the giraffe’s it is so worth it!!!! You will want to buy a few rounds of lettuce to feed them, $3-5. The penguins were so friendly and up close. Majestic elephants, moose and adorable wallabies!

Fantastic zoo. I've been to both the Omaha and San Diego zoos and while those are also great, there was something special about this one. It felt much more intimate than those. The layout of the zoo is great and you really felt like it was an experience. It being on the side of a beautiful mountain certainly helped the ambiance. It felt more natural than most zoos. Highly recommend.

Perfect visit at the CMZ. Not overly crowded on this day. Animals seem to be content with thier living arrangements and the grounds kept clean. The Animal enclosures are very well organized and have great observation areas. The walk between enclosures is a bit tough due to the hills that are ever present on the tour path. Best to bring comfortable walking shoes to this zoo, lots of walking here.

By far one of the best zoo experiences I have ever had. Lots of animals with clean and open enclosures. The views of Colorado Springs are beautiful as well. Plenty of opportunities to see animals that you may not see at other zoos and see them up close and personal to boot! Great reasonable price for a great experience.

The only downside is there is a lot of uphill traveling to see the exhibits, which was no problem for us, but could be difficult for anyone that may need a wheelchair or to use a stroller.

Incredible zoo experience! The exhibits present in a more natural environment being on the side of the mountain. All the zoo staff we have encountered have been very friendly and knowledgeable. The food court is awesome! Very easy to navigate and great prices for what is offered. The sky ride is a must as long as you're not afraid of heights. The view at the top is absolutely beautiful. The HUGE win associated with this zoo is the ability to feed the giraffes and have that interactive experience. The kiddos absolutely love it and adults do too!

Wonderful zoo! Beautifully laid out with many options to stop and enjoy the view. We visited on a full capacity Saturday and the zoo is so large that it never felt overly crowded. The giraffe observation deck and feeding platform are exceptionally popular, but there always seemed to be a place to stand and watch. The skyride is a nice break and only $5 per adult. The view and the area at the top where you can relax, eat and enjoy nature is worth the money. I highly recommend visiting if you love zoos, nature, and of course, giraffes.

We stopped here after flying in from FL and it was such a beautiful fun zoo. They had so much to offer and it was a very pleasant place to visit. The animals were so well cared and beautiful. A little hard to walk up and down the hills for this FL girl but we just loved it and took our time.
