A wonderful piece of hidden history. I recommend exploring the entire site. As the buildings are very old, there are some parts that would not be easily accessible via chair. The staff and docents are very knowledgeable and incredibly friendly people.

Great place to learn about some Hawaiian history, see some cool artifacts and see some beautiful paintings done by Edward Bailey! The museum is small and well preserved, there are educational videos as well as staff who are happy to chat about the history of the building of you have any questions! The Maui Historical Society has done a great job of sharing this history with us and this place is certainly worth a stop! Don't forget to explore the property the house sits on, there's lots to see!

If you are looking to be taken back to an era where modern machinery and technology wasn't a thing. To where people thought about how to get there next meal vs how to find a place to charge their phones, then you want to come here. Situated on a single lane road, in the middle of hill, this beautiful house will take your breath and wonders away.

If you are coming off of S High st, you hang a left onto main and follow it up passed the church. You will see it located to the left.

Once inside you are greeted by a friendly young gentleman. He will explain to you about the house and the different rooms that are located inside of it. He suggests turning around and starting inside the gallery and following it through to a room with more artifacts including shells, tools and jewelery. Once you are done there you can head upstairs to watch a historical video about Maui and the people of Maui. While also checking out some of the other things it has to offer.

You continue your way up the stairs and reach a bed room. The bed inside the room is a beautiful framed bed. It has a stunning pink and white blanket on top of it. The thought of it being woven in those days is truly amazing. There is a dresser and a few other things you may want to look at. You will be really taken back.

Upon leaving the Bailey house you can go check out the canoe and surfboards located towards the side of the house. Keep following it to the left and you will see a very intriguing ledge with some rocks nestled in the back. Beautiful flowers cover the property as well as a few nice photo opportunities.

This was one of the coolest things we did on the island yet. Myself, I'm a history geek. So being able to step into a house that was made brick by brick, board by board is truly breathtaking.

If you are looking for a truly unique place in Maui to visit, or a quiet romantic day with your partner. This is really a spot to go.

Ps. Make sure you get there relatively early. It get busy, fast.

I really enjoyed visiting this small museum. We got a docent led tour at no extra charge! I just wish they were open for more than 4 hours, 4 days a week!

Our Guide was very knowledgable about the Bailey House unfortunately our Tour got Hijacked by a know it all visitor that disrecpected our tour guides knowledge and Political veiw. I took my family and did a self guided tour and I hope this Post gets to the right people to inform visitors that there is a place and time for political talk but not in a group tour. RESPECT THE PEOPLE WHO A VOLUNTEERING THEIR TIME AT THESE PLACES AND OTHER PEOPLE AROUND YOU.

A very small museum but it has a unique collection of items. Try to read up on the history of Hawaii before visiting. You will have a better understanding of the items that are housed here. They did have a guide available when we visited but he was somewhat of a beginner guide so some of the information he shared with us was incomplete. We did appreciate the effort he made and the time he took to take us through the exhibits.

I'm so glad I stopped in here. The staff are obviously passionate about the history and culture of the Islands and eager to share their knowledge. The displays are informative and interesting. Do take the time to watch the video they have playing on the second floor. It's a perfectly informative piece about the relations between Hawaii and the US, delving into their cultural revival and desire for independence.
They have a great assortment of books and local crafts for purchase.

This was an afternoon well spent!! Our guide was very knowledgeable and made the tour more of a conversation with all involved. the artifacts were very interesting and the history of the culture as well as the history of the Hawaiian territory becoming a state is fascinating. Thoughtful and informative exhibits about Hawaii history. The display about the hula was worth the visit. It dispels a lot of misconceptions about the hula and its function in Hawaiian culture. Be sure to buy the passport when you pay the nominal admission charge: you get admission to three other Maui museums for the year. The home's builder has a number of canvases on display, most restored. They give a good picture of the island before development. Very quiet and relaxed place.

This little museum was quite a surprise. Large collection of pre-contact Hawaiian artifacts. We had a great tour guide named Zach. Knowledgeable and very friendly. He definitely has the ALOHA spirit. Worth your time to go and see this little gem on you way up to Iao park.
