The best RV park we have ever stay at!! Very quiet with big campsites. There is so much to do at the park. We loved the extensive paved running/walking trails. So many fun things to do for a family with kids. Park is very dog friendly, even a large dog park.

I go here just about every day to walk the trails with my dog. You can see some really nice scenery and wildlife. They have holiday lights, concerts, and charity events- it's all awesome to see and interact as a community. There's something for everyone here. They really do a nice job maintaining the park and I have to give a shout out to the super friendly staff.

What a great county park and Campground!
We had a lovely time, even extended our stay one extra day.
Here are some of the highlights:
Walking paths clearly labeled
Beautiful dock with sunset views and fishing
Fun, huge dog park with beach
Alligators and turtles!!
Rock climbing
Bike and boat rentals
Disc golf
Slack line
Giant backyard games
Ping pong and Foosball
Activity room (we used to work out in with our own weights

The staff was so friendly and gave us lots of suggestions on places to go nearby, including the Angel Oak Tree which is just about 20 minutes drive from the park.

Highly recommend!

Great campground! All the amenities were great, sites were very spacious, and the full hookup is always a plus! The only thing I would recommend, is to keep plenty of bug spray on hand.

This is one of the best campgrounds and parks I’ve ever been to. It includes a huge dog park on a lake, a ropes course/climbing wall, spacious campsites, well stocked store, and unbelievably easy access to the Charleston downtown. However, the crowning jewel is the Festival of lights on display from November through December

Very popular park with a lots of things to do for kids, adults and dogs. You can rent a bike or paddleboat or fish or just walk. Great place and very well maintained.

Have been going to the Festival of Lights for the past 8 years and love it more and more every year. We come from Beaufort just to see them. Can't wait to take my grandson later this year.

We drive to James Island every year from Hilton Head to see the festival of the lights! It’s one of our favorite family traditions and one we will continue forever. Totally worth the drive! And our kids love the waterpark there in the summer.

Recently I went to see the festival of lights. First time I've ever been in November. It was a good move. Not crowded and the lights were just as wonderful as if they were seeing in December. I will definitely make this a tradition of going earlier in the season.

This time, I was here for the Cajun Festival. I've been 20+ years in a row.

On ordinary days the park is, give or take, what you would want from such a park.

An absolutely gorgeous James Island oasis. Such places are invaluable.

Hiking paths, super nice *shaded* playground, water park, canoe/kayak rentals, dog park, bike trails, massive green grassy fields, and of course the palm, oak, and tropical swamp that is a nature lover's paradise.

Going and leaving from big festivals, can be challenging. Be ready for traffic, and ☆check rules for things like if dogs are allowed at festivals, or other rules.
This year, the Cajun Festival was tobacco and vape free.
There were also some pretty extensive handicapped accessible areas. It seemed like they tried to accommodate everyone.

Bottom line. A must, for nature enthusiasts, especially if you have children. Great place for almost any outdoor activities.
Please be nice, and don't litter.
The park usually has recycling, and composting for trash, at major events.

We love bringing our dog to this park for a walk. When we played Pokemon go a lot. We got plenty of steps in here. I was proposed to near the fishing pier. There are gorgeous views! This park will always have a special place in my heart

I camped here with friends and it was a wonderful experience! The entire park is beautiful and the campground was quite nice. We were in the primitive camp area, which has a fire ring, picnic table, and a 12x12 platform with 4 posts; I believe the platform is sand. There's a limit of 2 tents per site, which worked for our group of 5. The primitive camp site is about 3-5 min walk to the bathrooms, which was the only downside. The sites are carry in, but you can park quite close so it was no issue.

There are 4 individual showers at the bathrooms with AC units in each. The bathrooms also have AC, though they weren't working in the women's room while we were there and maintenance wasn't able to come on the weekend, which was slightly miserable.

Would definitely recommend!

Great campground. Spots were spacious. Park was clean and staff were kind. The park is pretty big so there is lots to explore. It’s nice to be so close to Charleston too.

A very well maintained camp with loads of things to do. They have a kids' playground, splash play area, hiking trails (with fun story quest for going kids), bike and boat rentals, and other fun activities (select days)

The restrooms next to the playground were maintained very well. The ones next to the campground needed better maintenance.

The staff were friendly, informative and helpful. Well worth the USD 42.5 for the tent spot.

Always great, year round! There are SO many fun things to do here! The Outdoor Zone includes a giant climbing wall, a challenge course, a zip line, and a belay wall. There is campground sites available as well as cottages to rent overlooking salt marsh beds that are fun to explore. There is a giant playground, picnic areas, fully and partially enclosed gathering spaces for rent, a water park with water slides, and also a smaller splash zone area. They have a great dog park that lies along the pond that lies at the center of the park where the dogs have their own fenced area to run and play in the water along with a smaller fenced area for small dogs. You can rent kayaks and paddle boats and there are MILES of bike and jogging trails throughout. Call ahead for reservations for zip line and challenge course, and the climbing wall is closed on Mondays until Memorial Day for maintenance. At Christmas this park features a glorious Festival of Lights that attracts people from miles and miles around to see the splendor. Lots of festivals here year round, Reggae Nights is one of my favorites! Must visit if you live near, and worth the stop if you are traveling through or vacationing in Charleston. Fun in the sun!

Great place for the kids. Nature walks, coastal forest and wetlands. Good open fields for fun times. Fishing inshore and freshwater. Amazing playgrounds for 2 to 12 y/o and a now reopened free 'spray play' fountains. Good events too 👍

We always try to come to the holiday lights here. They do a great job of decorating and displaying the lights. Just know it can be hectic during peak time just be patient and enjoy it all.
