Chef's Market Cafe & Takeaway

Just go!!! Great casual lunch place. They have everything from sandwiches to meatloaf or salmon. Great southern hometown atmosphere. Everything was delicious. I had the meatloaf and it was not only great tasting but large also. I was stuffed when I left and it was completely worth every penny.

Absolutely charming!! Ended up having brunch here because other places were full and we needed to hit the road back home. Not disappointed and more than glad we found this local gem. To me, it’s like an upscale version of Cracker Barrel. They have a huge variety of dishes for everyone. Portions are generous and flavors are just to die for. Besides, you can walk around the store and check if there’s something that catches your eye. Their merchandise is beautiful!

This was our first time trying Chef’s and we brought my wife’s parents. The food choices are excellent (so many choices!) and everything was fresh and delicious. We didn’t have enough room to try some of the desserts, but we will plan better the next time. Even the kids chicken tenders and fries were delicious. Servings were large as well and I don’t think any of us finished everything on our plate since we were full. Everyone working there is super friendly as well. It is also kind of a store with lots of different knick-knacks, jewelry, kids’ toys, etc. This will be our go-to restaurant each time we visit Goodlettsville.

We used Chef’s Market for our wedding dinner. Our guests absolutely loved it, and we received countless compliments on the appetizers and meal. We chose the Jack Daniels’ braised short ribs and shrimp and grits as our entrées. For the appetizers we chose hot chicken sliders, beef tenderloin crostini, bacon topped deviled eggs, crab cakes, fried green tomato with pimento cheese, and avocado tacos. Everything was fantastic!

First day teaching Real Estate Pre-Licensing I at Trees Real Estate School. Met Robert for an early dinner at Chef's Market in Goodlettsville. Robert had pot roast and I had roasted chicken on a strawberry and grape salad. Delicious. 😋 😋

Fun decor/store that I browsed while waiting for my friend to arrive for our lunch. Staff was super helpful as this was my first time visiting. Lots of options of hot and cold food. All fresh and delicious. But be sure you save room for their awesome desserts. My turtle cheesecake was sensational!

This is one of my favorite spots! Love the ambiance, and the food is always spot on. Their strawberry cake is ny absolute favorite. Every time I'm in the area, I have to go to Chefs Market! I normally get meat and two vegetables. The Jerusalem Chicken is chef's kiss, and the string green beans are super tasty! However, I could easily get a vegetable plate and be completely satisfied

All of the staff is so friendly and the food never fails me. I highly suggest the Jerusalem Chicken and the garlic mashed potatoes!

Amazing food. Pretty fast service and wonderfully kind staff. Would recommend to anyone to try it out. Had the Salmon and it was cooked perfectly.

Outstanding! Wide selection hot entries, vegetables, salads, deserts. Gift shop, dinning room and tables on the sidewalk. Unfortunately there is only one. I would eat here frequently if it was in my state. Thanks to our hotel for the recommendation; we were not disappointed.

The only complaint about this restaurant is that if it's your first time it's hard to navigate. Fortunately, the staff were friendly. The food is amazing and there are so many options. You can sample items and a dinner is 1 meat and any 2 sides plus your choice of roll. There are cakes by the slice and homemade cookies which are delicious. A little boutique store in the front as well. A perfect stop for people who want to skip the downtown crush.

We're traveling to Alabama and decided to take a break from the traffic and wanted somewhere different to have a good southern sit-down meal, and we found this gem 💎 ✨! This will definitely be on our stops for now on! It has a country store when you 1st walk in and served buffet style! The menu has a lot of different options, and you can have them grill items as well thats made to order!
The food was amazing! I had the meat loaf, fried okra, roll and mac and cheese; my mom had the catfish, okra, roll and mash potatoes; my daughter had the keto burger, sweet potato casserole; mac and cheese; potato skins; and banana pudding. They give you LARGE portions for your moneys worth and it was really good!!! Ohhhhhhhh and to drink, MAKE SURE... MAKE SURE... MAKE SURE you get the mango mint tea they have. OMGGGGGGGGG, IT'S SOOOOO GOOD! I WISH I WOULD'VE GOTTEN 1 FOR THE ROAD

Better than “home cooking” especially the sides. The vegetables are sooo good! Even my husband loved his veggies and he rarely comments on those. The helpings are heaping! You’re going to want a container to carry home what you can’t finish. And the desserts! Oh my do not pass on those but you will need to carry those out for later. Everyone of the employees is also super helpful. If you’re traveling this way, do yourself a favor and plan to stop here for a meal.

New place for me to try with many gluten free options. I had the keto bacon cheeseburger. It was perfectly cooked and flavorful. I will definitely have to go back and try all the other gluten free choices!

This is how deli style diners would be if they upped their game about 10 levels. Super nice people, cool, energizing vibe while dining and a shopping experience after or even before if you want.. All of it super cool. If you haven't heard of white chocolate banana pudding, just get some and eat it first. Sooooo good! Burger was good, fries were cooked perfect a bit too salty but the kids didn't seem to mind! The veggie plate was super fresh and tasty. A mishap with my dinner that was fixed right away with a smile. Overall it was a great meal that I'll be back for more another time I'm back in town and taking the family to dinner.

Overall: This is a place that was in front of my face the entire time for years that I never went too, now I'm wondering why it took me so long to go.

Pro: Clean, friendly, easy to find, great little market inside, food is excellent, tea is awesome.
Con: No Cons at all!

Review: Restaurant is premiere fast casual so you choose food and then pay at the end. I was not upset with any of the food here. The food tasted fresh, was not over salted to compensate and the tea was fresh and excellent. The service was top notch and friendly. I would not hesitate to go here as much as possible. Very much enjoyed this place.

COVID safety:
The tables were a little closer for comfort but the place still felt well ventilated.

Should you go: Most definitely!! Try the plates at the very back where you get a main and two sides. You will not be disappointed. Just check out the photos of the food!

Randomly came across this place and were pleasantly surprised with the food quality and efficiency. Each main dish comes with 2 sides (hot or cold). Pot roast was delicious and so tender and flavorful.

The staff is incredibly sweet. There are so many wonderful options it was hard to choose. There's lots of gluten-free options to choose from. My husband had the clam chowder and said it was the best he'd had in a long time. We will be back!!

The setup is confusing, but staff was very helpful. Walk through the kitsch to the food in the back. You order your food, but you don't pay then. They call your name and they give you food and a ticket. You pay with the ticket on your way out.

Don't be confused by the 4 star rating on the food- to echo another reviewers sentiment it WAS good, it just wasn't my thing necessarily. The hummus was GREAT. The Thai tuna wrap was good but with a name like Thai I expected it to be a little spicy. We didn't try anything hot, but it all looked quite good and everyone around had smiles on their faces. The pimento cheese was good, but very sweet. The broccoli salad was good. The pasta salad was kind of bland (compare with Jason's deli which is a bit more vinegary.

All that said, this place is gorgeous and a hidden gem. The food was good, just not my particular thing. My wife and daughter loved it

My dad and I came in for the first time tonight. The food was to die for, but the service was even better! I hope the man that helped us (the owner, maybe?) sees this because he was SO nice. I’m the Hattie B’s worker. ;) We will be back! Oh, and the White Chocolate Banana Pudding is a MUST!
