This is a classic Texas-sized great big lake which I found interesting for 2 reasons:

First, the high-water mark is very visible along the shore, which is covered - completely in some areas - with sticks and branches. I assume they were washed up along the shoreline during the really wet spring most all of Texas has experienced, and then have since become weathered and bleached by the sun.

This made for a unique, picturesque setting, as well as a virtually endless supply of great walking sticks.

The other thing I thought was interesting is the evidence of the impact Zebra Muscles appear to be having on the lake. The infestation of this invasive species must be fairly recent, as these things aren't covering everything like they are in other lakes I've seen them in, but they're definitely there and easy to spot.

The clarity of the water is a dead giveaway, and this lake is significantly less stained than it probably should be.

I don't know enough about the affect this has had, or will have in the future, on the fish population, but I can tell you I threw everything in my tackle box throughout 3 different visits, without getting a single bite.

The lake looks fishy as hell, but they were definitely not biting on anything the days I was there.

However, this would be a Great place to take small kids fishing, because they'd be guaranteed to catch tons of small bluegills from a sizeable floating dock/swim platform to the left of the boat launch.

It's so hot during the summer days, and I imagine this large platform offers great cover from the heat, so the population of bluegills hanging out under this thing is Huge!

Buy some worms and some really small hooks, then get ready to be taking lots of little fish off your son's or daughter's pole if they drop their bait straight down from the edge of this platform.

Great spot for star gazing at night and walking during the day. I been coming here for years now. Please don't close because boats can't get in water. We go there fir more than boating. There's hiking trails. Sad to see it keep getting closed. :(

Love to just drive here at night and eat dinner every once in a while. There is a sweet black cat that lives here, make sure to feed him if you go there! Good place to take your kayak or boat from what ive seen. Only good park open 24 hours. Nothing special to do aside from do water activities or watch the lake and the light polluted texan sky, but still holds a special place in my heart.

Very good place to fish along the shoreline. Watch out for logs tho, you will get your line snagged.

As of right now (September 1st 2023). The park is closed due to low water levels.

It’s a great scenic park even though currently the water levels are lower than I’ve ever seen.

This a wonderful place for fishing.
But you have those that ruin it for others by leaving their trash behind. People need to show appreciation for the privileges they are given!

Lake is really low, made fishing difficult. Kayaker for 5 hours. Beautiful scenery

Nice area to bring a small boat or to just relax. Didn't see a playground for kids.
