Backcountry Retail Store

Had the best experience looking for ski boots here! I'm a novice, and my partner is a snowboarder; so we were both a bit confused about what I wanted. Randy C was fantastic! He made a bunch of great recommendations, and wound up helping me find the perfect boots. He also knew that I was looking for something with blue coloring, and he pulled up the boots in the color I wanted online since they were not in stock in the store. Seriously so helpful and knowledgeable, as well as super friendly! We will definitely be back looking for Randy for our future gear needs. :)

I bought a bike at their store in West Valley. Despite the reviews, I must say I had a great experience. Taylor customized the bike as I liked, he put the upgrades I wanted, and took all the needed time for the bike fitting. Friendly staff and excellent customer service

I recently went shopping for snowboarding gear here. I am a novice and unknowledgeable on most gear matters. Jake stepped up and went far above and beyond anything I could have expected. He found me gear that fit well, served my wants, and in all honesty looked good together. He far and away exceeded any expectations I had. After everything was said and done he wouldn't even accept a tip. I have since basically made this my one stop shop for purchasing any outdoor gear regardless of price. I seriously can't recommend this place enough. 10/10 customer service.

Ordered $300 worth of merch and they delivered to a house instead of an apartment complex. How these two things get mixed up are beyond me. Filed for a refund and informed I have to call them back in two days for an update. Should be the other way around. I’ll update this review to 5 stars if my refund is processed without any further hassle.

Very cool retail store! I was a little confused walking in as I wasn't sure what the process was to finding inventory that they have in stock. They have computers in the middle of the store where you can find what you're looking for and they have you fill out a little piece of paper with the item number and the size, then you take it to a window and the warehouse employees fetch that for you. I had to wait a bit, but it wasn't an issue. After I received my item, you pay for it at the counter. Very good customer service and the employees were able to answer all my questions concisely. I'll definitely be going back!

I blew up my rear wheel while training with my team and had a race the next day so I headed over to back country right as it was closing. Casey, Doman, and Rylee stayed after closing to help me find a new rear wheel for my bike so I was ready for my race the next day. They where super kind and nice. It was one of the best retailer experiences I've had.

Great store with lots of items on the shelf. But what is great about this store is that you shop online with the computers they have there or on your mobile device and then they go get it from the warehouse. And some minutes later they bring it out and you can try it. If you like it, you can pay for it right there, and if you don't, just leave it. Ohh and you don't have to pay shipping charges.
Sometimes, if it's busy, it can take a bit to get your item, but there's plenty of stuff to see, and they typically hand cool videos playing.

I just wish they would put prices on the items on the floor. The only reason I don't buy things that are on the floor is because there are no prices and it is too hard to ask an employee because they are always so busy. Even a price check machine would be useful.

We are so lucky to have this in the Salt Lake area. Amazing amount of inventory. You can go to the warehouse and have them pull things out to try on before you purchase them. You can also return items that you buy online to the warehouse location with no fees.

Man I love this place. I ordered a Mammut galaxy protect rope for half off, $130 as compared to $260. Not only that, from when I ordered it to it arriving at my doorstep was less than 24 hours (I do live in Logan). I’ve bought a Columbia hoodie and Arcade belt as well through steep and cheap. Would definitely suggest, steep and cheep as well as campsaver are the best places for buying outdoor gear that I’ve found.

Salt Lake City’s outdoor gear supplier! I attended the public sale and got such a great deal today! Everything I’ve ordered has been top quality! Great service, the employees working the public sale were very helpful and super friendly!

You can browse their website from one of the many monitors; place your order directly; and they'll pull it for you right there.

Be prepared for a non-standard shopping experience: it’s like being “inside” the website. What little merch they have on the floor isn’t tagged, but you just stop at one of the computers to look at prices and hand over a piece of paper to a clerk with some product info and a literal warehouse of product is at your fingertips in minutes. Friendly and fun non-normal retail store.

A nice experience. The exact process after submitting your ticket could be a little more clear from the start, but I figured it out. Would have been nice to know what I needed to record before going to the store!

First time inside a Backcountry store and I enjoyed the experience. Staff was nice, and answered any questions I fielded their way. Clean and very appealing layout. Will definitely be visiting more often!

This store is great. I can always go in and get anything off of the website with out having to wait for shipping. They pull things from the warehouse super quick too!

Everyone is helpful and friendly. The warehouse ticket ordering process is a little different -- you use a computer and write down the item # and color option on a card and then wait while they bring your items. There are dressing rooms and mirror so you can try things on. You send back anything you don't want and check out with what you keep. You could probably save some time filling out your list ahead of time if you're shopping from home.

So lucky to have this in my backyard! The selection of the online store but available to look before buying. Also cool to be able to pickup items if can’t wait for shipping. Staff is super nice and able to help a lot of people. You don’t get a lot of dedicated time with staff, but if you’re fairly certain of what you want and just want to see/try before buying, the trip here is with it!

The backcountry retail store is great! They have everything you could order online but you get it that day. Big warehouse with a little corner of discounted items. Highly recommend.

Backcountry is fantastic! I bought a bike and live local. The gear head reached out to me to ask if I wanted to save $80 by picking it up. They make everything easy to pick up and return.

Backcountry is such a gem in our area to be able to see and try on tech gear before purchasing. Great staff and wonderful selection. Hope to be able to take advantage of this cool place for many years 👍
