Under The Umbrella Cafe and Bakery

Under the Umbrella Cafe is one of my favorite neighborhood go-to places. Today, I had enough time before my commute to stop for a grab & go breakfast burrito/latte. They were so quick with my order that I ended up being earlier to work than expected, even though there was line in front of me. Not only to do I love this place for a quick weekday/weekend grab & go, but it's so good I take my guests & visitors here before a day at the museum or a hike. Their coffee & matcha are always delicious. Their eggs are so fluffy! As a vegetarian, I love the Sharon breakfast sando & the veggie breakfast burrito. The almond poppy seed muffin is another go-to! I'd give this place another star if I could. <3

Always have an amazing experience at UTU. All the baristas there give awesome service and work hard to get out all the orders in a timely manner. The ordering window is quick and easy. Not to mention their pastries, sandwiches, and coffee are legitimately some of the best I’ve had in denver. I love you UTU!

Their seasonal favorites are why I keep coming back. Always unique and so good. They make a mean chai latte & their croissant sandwiches are amazing. Love having this Cafe in the neighborhood.

Really good coffee drinks and pastries. This is a window that you order from and wait. No indoor seating. Good service.

This lovely place is consistent and delicious! Friendly staff and look how cute....fresh made foods and baked goods, great coffee, tea, chai etc...!

Their pesto croissant (I got it without the bacon) is delicious. The croissant is delightfully crispy for being stacked with so much fatty food.

We have been coming to Under the Umbrella Cafe for years, and decided to go this morning! We live about 30 minutes from there now, but it is totally worth the trip! Delicious flavored lattes and cold brews, and their bacon pesto croissant is soooo good!

Fantastic little hole in the wall that makes the neighborhood feel homey. Cherry and cream cheese croissants are fantastic, cinnamon rolls are fantastic, lemon bars are just sweet enough but not overly sweet. The lunch options are pretty good, and seem to slightly rotate for variety. The staff is very nice. They carry a great selection of Pablo's coffee.

I absolutely love this place. The drinks and pastries (including gluten-free!) and soups are awesome. The best part is the staff, they are all so friendly and kind. My dog also loves this place as they keep cute treats for the pups where you order. It’s also great that they have a walk up order window - really convenient

UTU is on my way to work, I love grabbing a coffee and one of their awesome breakfast burritos (protip: always say yes to the salsa) once or twice a week. I usually can't finish the whole burrito in the morning and it MAKES MY DAY when I get hungry around lunchtime and remember I have half a burrito in the fridge. Good coffee good food and an excellent staff, I'm a big fan.

Wonderful neighborhood joint. We’re once a week regulars here. My wife loves their teas and their seasonal hot beverages. We usually share a bacon breakfast burrito. It’s always filled with big crispy pieces of bacon. How do they do that?! If we’re late and the bacon burritos are sold out you can totally depend on any of their breakfast sandwiches.

After living in Denver for some time, we finally found our favorite breakfast sandwich! Everything was fantastic- we will be back regularly!

Unreal breakfast sandwiches; their bacon, egg, and cheese croissant is the perfect means to break your fast. Flakey, buttery croissant, moist and flavorful eggs, hardy bacon. If you are a breakfast sandwich connoisseur, give this place a chance. It won't disappoint.

their raspberry croissant will CHANGE YOUR LIFE!!!!! Coffee is scrumptious. Quiche is spectacular!!! Absolute best bakery/cafe ... flawless, impeccable, stunning, amazing, fantastic etc.

This is, without a doubt, the most delicious bacon, egg and cheese on croissant I’ve ever had.

Under the Umbrella used to be across 12th Avenue where The French Press is now. I have friends who enjoyed eating there, in the “old” place - including my wife. The new place is much smaller and operates take-out only through a take-out window. We recently has two breakfast burritos, both a bit smaller than is typical around town, just a bit, but very tasty and well-made nonetheless. Their cappuccino was quite good. OJ is only available in bottles, Nantucket Nectars. The staff were friendly and chipper. There are a great many pastries on offer that might tempt us next time. One other note: there is not, as far as I could see, any umbrella to be under! That seems like a mistake…

Update: Okay, okay, I was just kidding about the umbrella! There is a beautiful graphic over the door (and elsewhere, in smaller versions) with an umbrella in a circle, very nice colors, very pleasingly made. A capable artist or graphic designer put it together, obviously. It's lovely.

Chef Kat responded to my earlier review about the burritos, and she was exactly right. She wrote: “I like to say our burritos are big enough to get you going and not put you back to bed. I’m sure I’ve made thousands by now and I still love making them cuz they’re so dang good.” So true. Though a bit shorter than most, they are thick and full of flavorful ingredients.

More than that, however, we have come to appreciate their croissant breakfast sandwiches. Appreciate isn't a strong enough word - we have come to delight in them! Simply made with eggs, cheese, sausage or bacon all on a fresh, lightly toasted croissant, these are the best breakfast sandwiches ever! So delicious! Better than any breakfast burrito, even. They come as bagels, too.

That goes for the other croissants - chocolate, raspberry, almond. They are superb. So, yes, their pastries have tempted us, and they will tempt anyone.

Chef Kat says they make all their menu items onsite, including all of the pastries. That must be a big part of their success.

My wife and I have also begun to select take-out dishes from UTU for lunch or dinner. There is a variety of interesting sandwiches, soups, chilis, and other goods to be purchased.

I was too quick to judge. This window-only eatery may be small, but it has a large presence in the neighborhood dining scene. Every dish they make is worth ordering, and eating, and then coming back for, again and. again!

The best and most underrated Breakfast Sandwiches in Denver! My partner and I work early hours, and it has always been SO difficult finding a decent breakfast sandwich on our days off when we sleep in. Under The Umbrella serves theirs ALL day until close in the early eve/late afternoon. And they are HANDS DOWN the best brekkie sandwich in town. The prices are fair and the ingredients lend to a perfectly fluffy, creamy, savory breakfast sandwich (especially on a croissant). The staff is safe, friendly, and inclusive at the walk-up window- my only wish is that they had a couple cafe tables like some of their neighbors across the street!

Under the Umbrella is my favorite local spot. Every single time I visit, the staff is so warm and welcoming. The food is delicious--love the sausage, egg, and cheese on a croissant--and the drinks are perfect--London Fog with Rosemary or Lavender syrup for me! It's a perfect quick bite. Please remember to tip generously! We want cozy little places like UTU to remain in the neighborhood.
