If you love Christmas lights, you should visit the Joseph Smith Birthplace Memorial in South Royalton, Vermont. The monument, which honors the founder of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is lit up by more than 200,000 lights that create a stunning spectacle. 🌟

I arrived expecting a bizarre and disconcerting energy and I experienced precisely that. The music playing from the treeline was particularly unhinged, and the guided tour from Elders was richly educational. The environment was pristine, and their restrooms were well taken care of. I genuinely loved being here and plan to install wistful orchestral music in the trees at my house.

Very pretty and interesting place! The missionaries taught us a lot about sacrifice and about the lord’s timing.

As you leave, there is a roundabout off to the right before the chapel. There are nice picnic tables to enjoy a meal at.

Tour guides are amazing. The location and facilities are immaculate. The tour is inspirational and educational. Anyone that is curious about the origin of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints should spend an hour here.

This is a great place for anyone, regardless of their faith tradition. You can feel a special spirit here. The 38.5 ft tall obelisk is a dominant tribute to Joseph Smith. If you have time, climb up Patriarchs hill and overlook the monument and surrounding valley. If you can, plan a trip here in the fall so you can enjoy the beautiful leaves!

I am so glad we ended up going to Canada this way. The senior missionaries were great. We had our own private tour. He took us on a golf cart and we learned so much. Ask questions because it makes it better and show interest and you get to hear more. This can be somewhat out of the way if you aren’t going this way, but I am so glad we got to visit this memorial site!!

Cool site to visit in a beautiful area. It’s a quick tour with lots of great info. The tour guides were fantastic and very knowledgeable. They even directed us to the special collections library at Dartmouth, where we were able to check out a first edition Book of Mormon.

Every Christmas, the Joseph Smith birthplace historical site has a beautiful display of lights that is well worth driving through. In past years they have also had a display of live animals to recreate the humble scene in which Jesus Christ is said to have been born. The site is beautiful as are the decorations and never fails to instill in our family a sense of peace and joy. See my pictures to get some idea of what this is like.
