Mays Avenue Restaurant

Wonderful addition to Gettysburg restaurants. This is a new restaurant, not Mays. Rather, Mai’s.

The food was hot and tasty. Service excellent and welcoming sign to see a familiar face in the owner. We will be back.

I’d like to say this place is Gettysburg’s best kept secret, but the secret is out! Great food for a great price! Get in here before the line is around the block!

Good Americana cooking. Fair prices and great food. While walking around town, two different locals recommended this locale for food. We had lunch there and the food was outstanding. Wife had the stuffed mushrooms, out came six large mushrooms filled with crab. No filler. I had the brisket sandwich, which was decent. The other highlight was the fries. Excellent skin on fries. Check it out when you need a quick bite or a full meal. Homemade desserts are available.

We stopped here unexpectedly due to every other restaurant being packed. What a delicious surprise! The food is all home cooked. We had Brittany's choice. Again a gamble as it is seafood at a diner. It was fantastic! Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Fantastic dessert too. Enjoy!

Great service, great food. We had a party of eleven and we got our food hot and delicious very quickly. They have a wide selection of menu items and great options for just about anyone. The wait staff is very friendly and nice. Great overall experience.

Great food, great service, convenient location. My wife and I have eaten here a few times and are very happy with the food and service. When a downtown-Gettysburg restaurant gets a lot of local patrons, you know its service and food are good.
Reviews prior to November 2017 can be ignored. This restaurant is under new management now. The name is the same, but the owner is new. It is well worth a visit.

My brother gave me a tip to try this restaurant and I am so glad we went in! The crab cakes are so awesome....no fillers!!! Chicken corn soup...awesome! Homemade as well and just the right balance of meat, corn, noodles. The staff was very friendly and awesome service as well. Will definitely go there again 😊👍

We've been here before and the food has been consistently good every time. My hubby got the scrabbler(eggs, potatoes, ham ,green pepper and onion) and he loves it! I got scrambled eggs with crisp potatoes, bacon and rye toast..also hot cakes. It was all perfect and the hot cakes were fluffy. Lets not forget the awesome coffee!

This place is great. Been eating here for years when I am in the area. Food is good family style eats, nothing fancy. Staff always friendly. Prices are awesome for amount of food you get, a lot ! See you guys next trip.

I wanted a cheese burger and once again I was presented with the quandary of how to order it without receiving a dried up piece of leather. So I resorted to my standard plan and ordered it medium rare. Much to my shock and delight the burger came prepared as ordered and it was delicious. I have only been here once, but I will go back..... And guess what I will order.

The crab shrooms are a must!! The food is soooo good and are reasonably.priced!! We make a trip to Gettysburg just to eat there. The staff and the owners always make us feel like family. In my opinion, it is THE BEST restaurant, and we've been to every restaurant in the surrounding area. All I can say is you have to go there and see for yourself!!

We LOVE it here and I bet you will as well. We are locals who work in town and we LOVE going to the Avenue for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We fell in love with the dinner before we moved to Gettysburg. When we would visit the town we would go here to eat because we felt welcomed. We enjoyed the photos and names of the dishes on the menu. It feels like a down home dinner. The food is great! I always get the Chicken Cordon Blu with Sweet potato fries. My wife gets the "Haunted Burger" which comes with a free ghost tour ticket for the great "Haunted Gettysburg" tour that is located right next door. Almost nightly the author is outside selling tickets to the tour. But lets get back to the restaurant... I am a critical person by nature. I have looked for something to complain about every time I am eating here... I have NOT been able to find anything wrong with this restaurant. It is clean, roomy, welcoming and the staff are well groomed, friendly and fun. The food is incredible and filling! I often leave with a to go box.
I recommend this restaurant to everyone I meet in the town. Now if you will excuse me, its time for lunch...

Was heartbroken when we visited and this place was closed on our previous visits (always checked on its status), extremely thrilled to find it had re-opened ... Awesome diner/homemade meals, happy smiling faces on the servers and staff, great food for your dollar and an overall welcoming feeling ...

Kid's menu prices are a bargain!!!
The Ham Club is thick, delish and priced perfectly!!!
Steak & Cheese Sub arrived just as the Hunny ordered (picky eater) and was very filling and again good on the price.
Their bacon&cheese fries has a different spin on flavor and was very yummy, even reheated ...
The overall menu is good in selection and value.

I visited 5 years ago, and I was so ready to visit again this past weekend. My group went twice for breakfast.

Had French fries, wife had wings. The fries were good but wife said the wings could've been a little larger or "meatier", but were good overall. Clean place, very casual, very clean restroom.

Had lunch at Mays Avenue today. Excellent food and service. Cheese Steak sandwich was delicious, and so was my husbands Hot Roast Beef Sandwich. Great prices.

Food was banging at Mays Avenue! I had the fried clams as an appetizer, then fried Haddack, mash potatoes, butter peas, and a raspberry ice tea....uuuuum delicious!! For dessert I had a Apple walnut crumble pie warmed up, and served on a leaf of lettuce! It was 🔥🤣. It's not normally served on a leaf of lettuce, that part was a inside joke between our server and my friend, and the server was awesome enough to play along. I cannot remember her name unfortunately, but if she reads this review she will know. I would definitely recommend other to stop through their restaurant when in Gettysburg, food was great, and atmosphere was warming along with staff. That will be one of my regular stops when back in town, and luckily that will be often since I only live an hour away 😁.

This place is any excellent family restaurant. Great food, many specials each day! Real good people! 5 plus stars.
