The Cornish-Windsor Bridge is an iconic marvel connecting Vermont and New Hampshire. Built in 1866, it's the longest wooden covered bridge in the United States, offering a captivating blend of history and stunning river views. Crossing over the Connecticut River, this bridge is a testament to craftsmanship and durability. Its lattice truss design and deep red color make it a photogenic spot, especially during the fall foliage season. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a photography buff, or simply seeking a scenic drive, the Cornish-Windsor Bridge is a must-visit, encapsulating the charm of New England.

Travellers, the Cornish Windsor bridge in both New Hampshire as well as Vermont is a New England gem. The bridge is very interesting and unique. It is made entirely of wood and is still and has been continually in use. It is a large covered bridge and spans the Connecticut river which is the boarder between the two states. The sites and sounds are utterly charming. Check it out. We recommend.

TLDR - The bridge is worth the ride

We crossed the bridge twice and used the pullout on the NH to take photos. It is an impressive monument to history and worth seeing!

We stumbled upon the Cornish-Windsor Covered Bridge this week. We were heading from NH to VT. You can stop and park on the NH side, hence the posted pictures. According to the on site sign, this is the longest wooden bridge in the United States and the longest two-span covered bridge in the world. I wonder why I never heard of this before! This bridge crosses over the Connecticut River from New Hampshire to Vermont. Even if you're not into covered bridges, this one is something special to see!

Longest historic covered bridge in the United States. There is a recent bridge in Ohio over the Ashtabula River, which is 613 feet long, with pedestrian walkways on both sides. Dedicated in 2008.

A beautiful sight of History. Always exciting to ride through. Hard to not feel nostalgic for the days of old. Close your eyes and one can almost feel the bounce of a trot on a horse, hear the clippity clop of hooves echoing throughout the darkness of the bridge while riding towards the light at the end of the bridge. Beautiful bridge in all seasons. So Blessed I get to ride through on on a daily basis. If you're in the area, a ride through this beautiful historic bridge is definitely worth the memory you'll gain!!

I did not realize how long this bridge was until I took an outside photo."Walk your horses or pay a $2 fine", what an eye catching phrase, I wonder how long that sign has actually been posted. I left the covered bridges in New England.

Have looked forward to seeing a covered bridge and we find the longest 2 pier example. The information board was interesting and gave the original cost to build ($9000)

This bridge is HUGE! It's two lanes to drive across. The Vermont side is bland and boring with no place to pull over and explore but the New Hampshire side has a huge parking area to the side, an informational plaque, and great views.

Fun covered bridge! I wish we could have walked it but they actually use it and it's busy!! The Vermont people are great though and they don't mind crazy tourists talking pictures!

Beautiful bridge and architecture. I wish the town could accommodate tourists visiting the bridge better. (i.e. a trail to walk on) There is a small pull off to park. You can only admire it safely from there. I've seen many people put themselves in danger trying to walk across the bridge. Lots of cars still use it today.

Rent kayaks from nearby Great River Outfitters for the best view :)

Great to see it and walking through it, can still smell the horses, it's one of the few bridges that can be seen from interstate 91

Beautiful bridge and very long. Saw this on my way to Saint Gaudens NHP in NH. Loved the sign on the bridge indicating cost for horse and buggy to cross. Plenty of room to stop and shoot pics.

For history buffs, vacationers, and leaf peepers, covered bridges are a thing. Seeing the world’s longest? On the beautiful Connecticut River? In September or October? A no brainer. Plenty of places on either side of the bridge to pull off and spend some time. A remarkable engineering accomplishment for its time and well worth yours to stop and see.

THIS was an AMAZING experience, used to ALWAYS go across covered bridges when I was a kid, I didn't think I'd find one that was TWO LANE! Truly mind blowing. I had a throw back moment to 'Funny Farm' when I saw the sign warning about Horse behavior or $2 dollar fine, it just hits my funny bone because I actually have a $2 bill!

Lived in Windsor for a year when I was 13, Everything about the area was awesome. My new friends and I would go to the ascutney mountain resort to work out and go swimming.I was in the seventh grad then and the hole town was pumped for sports and 7th graders could play full contact football. And of course I played, anyway we won the state championship best time of my life. If the pizza place on main street is still there stop in and have the pizza in VY.

Fell for the love of my life crossing this bridge. Cheesy? Yes. On-the-nose metaphor? Sure. Still. It is a lovely bridge with a nice lookout point on the New Hampshire side. Make the drive.
