Our group stopped at over a dozen covered bridges during our time in New England and this was our favorite. The red paint and nearby dam make for some great photo ops. Wander onto the rocks below the bridge for some of the best angles.

This is one of the most accessible and well maintained covered bridges. It's just on the edge of town so you can stop to shop and eat. There's limited parking at a park next to the stream so bring a sandwich, chair and a book and enjoy the view!

We tried to walk there but you have to cross the road and there's really no path for pedestrians. We had parked our car in town so we went back to take it and we drove to the bridge for a quick photo (there's place to "park" maybe 2-3 cars, and most people doing so were there for snapping some pictures).
Very pretty 😍

Beautiful bridge in Woodstock with a wonderful waterfall by it.
You can go down and take a small walk along side the river to get the best view into the bridge.
Drive through the bridge and see the stunning foliage outside is a very nice experience

3rd oldest covered bridge in Vermont. Beautiful location next to waterfall.

Very scenic and well preserved covered bridge that can be driven over.

Beautiful bridge from all angles. Inside, outside, sideview, underside. If you look close you can see where people who drive RVs have rammed their AC into the bridge and the boards have been replaced! (Happens seemingly once a year.)

Included a photo regarding the history of the Taftsville Covered Bridge. There's a generator building (inaccessible to the public) connected to the waterfall, which it fun to look in the windows.

There's stairs leading down on the opposite side of Route 4, and while the steps probably been some TLC, it's still pretty accessible in order to reach the bottom. A nice breeze hits you at the bottom, along with the powerful sound of the falls and running water.

If you move further away from the falls, it's a nice place to just walk around in the water, about knee height and deeper. Closer to the falls, there's a much deeper part, but I rarely see folk swimming.

This is a lovely and long covered bridge in an area that is easy to pull through it and pull off the road to take a photo.

Iconic bridge, must visit! This place is close to Woodstock downtown. Most of the folks click picture while on the way, you can also drive on the bridge. There is a parking right before the bridge for 4-5 cars! We have parked the car, and walked on the bridge, on the other side of the bridge there is a walk way down where you can find great views of the bridge and the river.

Taftsville covered bridge is truly one of a kind. I’ve never seen anything like this. Woodstock is blessed with a couple of such bridges.

I planned to visit this specific bridge in advance when visiting Vermont for the fall colors. It’s a wooden covered bridge which is still operational by the way, so please make sure to look for oncoming traffic while stopping to click photos. It’s an iconic bridge which surely attracts lot of attention from travelers. We took a couple of photos of the bridge and then passed through. It was really fascinating.

The surrounding area is also unique. There’s this small waterfall besides it which is a nice touch to this entire covered bridge experience. I had never seen anything like this so I must say this is a must visit place.

A very heavily traveled covered bridge, one has to be careful when exploring this bridge, especially when walking through.

The bridge looks conspicuously “new” bit a read of the sign explains why: the previous bridge was severely damaged during flooding associated with Hurricane Irene in 2011.

Regardless, the proximity to a hydroelectric dam makes for a more picturesque backdrop.

What an interesting and beautiful bridge. The truss system is unique to Vermont as they go below the road bed to the stone work below. Also the stonework is amazing. Place that over a scenic river and what more can you ask for.

It's not just any old covered bridge; it is an amazing feat of wooden engineering and the 2nd longest in Vermont! You have to stop and walk though it and read about both the bridge and the hydroelectric dam! The drive along VT 4 is so beautiful, and this is one of the jewels in the crown.

Beautiful views. Semi busy covered bridge. There isn't really a decent place to pull off and park but we were able to do so without disrupting the traffic and it was worth the stop.

A stunning example of the iconic red covered bridge! Photogenic in every season. There’s a picnic bench on the south side with a nice view and you can climb down the rocks on the north side to get up close to the water and an interesting perspective on the bridge.

The bridge’s face was recently damaged by a truck that was too tall. The town quickly repaired the bridge but please don’t try to cross if you risk the clearance.

Beautiful place to stop by for taking pics. Area around is also beautiful, the dam, river... Recommended go all the way Old River RD. One of the best places to visit on Fall.
