Mother in law had same day surgical procedure. She did well and thankfully there were no surprises. Met Dan at 530a and registered her for the procedure. Each and every person from Doctors, nurses specialists to food service security and random employees encountered throughout the six hours we spent at PHMV were professional, capable and most of all they were nice. Everyone! Mother in law treated well and care received was excellent. Thank you PHMV

I had a horrible experience here 3 years ago, never did I ever want to return. It was called Mon Valley Hospital at the time. Penn Valley took over and they must of changed the policies because they did everything you could imagine to make an emergency room visit experience better. They left nothing to chance as was the case 3 years ago. The nurses (Stacy) was on top of everything down to what drink was being served. The doctor showed a personal concern for well being and there was nothing more I could have requested or needed that wasn't immediately responded to.

I am very happy to see such a change but obviously saddened by the past irresponsible and neglective ways that created such a horrible experience that it still depicts a bad image upon the current organization.

As busy as the emergency room was at the time I was there. Every member of staff was professional. There was no open beds at the time but the staff worked through as a team to get testing done efficiently.

My husband was sick for a few weeks, he went to Jefferson and they told him it must be covid although it was all abdominal issues, issused a covid test and sent him home with absolutely no relief or answers... I took him to PHMV emergency room the next day, no wait to get a room, and Dr.Ekbote put him in for emergency surgery to remove his gallbladder as he was nearly septic. Within an hour he was in the OR and was admitted over night. So thankful PHMV caught what Jefferson didn't.

I was admitted to the ER and they were quick, kind, and very clean! My nurses were incredible, they listened and were personable. My physician was Dr. Holekamp and she was incredible. She was in the room almost as much as the nurses checking my IV and making sure I was comfortable and feeling better. She went above and beyond her job and made the experience as good as it could be being in the ER.

My father was recently discharged from Mon Valley Hospital. I want to thank the Emergency room physician, nurses, doctors, physician assistants, social workers, floor manager and patient care coordinator working on 7 east. Dad had great medical care and is recovering thanks to a lot of prayers and the quality care he received.
In addition I was not aware of the availability of zoom until I called the patient care advocate (coordinator). She returned my call promptly and arranged access to a zoom virtual meeting with my dad. It was a great relief to see that he was doing well and getting great care. He was in isolation and not allowed visitors. It was very frustrating not to be able communicate with him . So in case you are not aware, ask for a virtual visit if circumstances prevent you from visiting your loved ones.

I have been to many Hospitals in my 70 years. This by far has truly been my choice for number 1. I recently needed to admitted for kidney stones an infection. I was truly treated with super loving and caring concern. I highly praise the staff who work there. You are the very best.

On August 2, 2018 while traveling I was admitted to the hospital after an ER visit. I have nothing but respect for the hospital staff--housekeeping through nurses and physicians--who were very professional and caring. My stay was above average in all respects (I've been unfortunate enough to be treated in enough hospitals to know), and for the size hospital MVH is the services provided were handled professionally and with compassion.

They offer the best care available and the cancer center has a cutting edge radiation machine that is the best in the tri-state area. The nurses and other staff are always very compassionate and genuine. If admitted the food is also amazing for hospital food. I would never go anywhere else. It is a shame people overlook this lil gem we have right in our backyard. I will say Er visits not always the best. The one Dr thinks everyone is a drug seeker. Sent my husband home and said was just inflammation and to take Aleve. Husband fell and was back in the Er 2 days later diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. His pain was a completely destroyed pelvic bone from a 5 cm mass. Can't judge this hospital based on one bad doctor, and if we didn't have an opioid epidemic things would be so different. People will do or say anything to get drugs so it makes it hard for people who really need pain meds to get the help they need.

I can't understand some of the bad reviews posted. I have been going to Mon Valley for a long time. The staff have always been kind to me and my husband Gary. He was hospitalized quite frequently. Always treated with respect and care. Our Doctors were wonderful, some weren't but no one is perfect.

I was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer at Mon Valley Hospital in June 2018 and have been a patient there ever since. The care and compassion of everyone that I have dealt with has been top notch and 2nd to none. One of my nurses, Alaina K., on the 6th floor here at Mon Valley, she was my rock before, during, and after getting the news about my diagnosis. She gave me nothing but the utmost respect, care and compassion that anyone could want when receiving such life altering news. Not to exclude all the other nurses that were absolutely caring, compassionate, and wonderful dealing with me for a whole week while i was given all my testing to try to figure me out. Even the interns they had assisting their nurses were absolutely awesome. Every department I went thru during my stay, such as, x-ray, mri, cat scans, biopsy, everyone was absolutely awesome. The Cancer Center here at Mon Valley Hospital, I can't type enough words to express my gratitude towards how caring and compassionate and knowledgeable and wonderful everyone has been with me and my family in both the Radiation and Oncology Departments. Dr. Isaac and his team in the Radiation Department including Lori, Debbie, the (2)Chris' and way too many other names to type, but all have treated me as they would their own family or friends. Dr. Tonkonow and his Oncology Team including Loretta, Jane, Jessica, again the list is endless of wonderful, knowledgeable, compassionate, people that he has on his staff as well. I'm sure they don't get to hear it enough, and I hope they read this and know they have people out there that they have either treated or they are still currently treating, like myself, that do appreciate how truly awesome they are. And I can tell you from previous bad experiences at other hospitals and the poor quality of care that I have received at these places, I'm trusting my life as it goes forward with these wonderful people at Mon Valley Hospital. So hopefully these kind, wonderful, folks that work there get to see this review because they truly deserve the recognition for giving their patients such great care. And I am also hopeful this helps someone in making a decision where to go to receive the best care for whatever it is they are going through. And by the way, if you are staying for awhile at this hospital, their food is excellent. Kudos to the Hospital's Dietary Department and thanks again to everyone at Mon Valley Hospital that has had a hand in helping me fight my battle with cancer.

I love this hospital. the nurses were great and cared. They take you right away when you go in the er. I was in and out of the er and if i would have went to jefferson, i would still have been in the waiting room waiting. I hate going to a hospital but this one is the best. Another time I was in intensive care for 3 days. The nurses there were wonderful also.

There ARE Angels at MVH. All the nurses are sincerely concerned about patients. They are always pleasant and go above and beyond to make patients comfortable and confident in the excellent care they are receiving. We in the Mon Valley are very fortunate to have this hospital.

I do not understand all of the negative ratings for Monongahela Hospital .. I'm guessing the negative coments are due to doctors refusing to fill controlled substances. I have been to this hospital 3 times. The services they provided were exceptional. The staff was very kind and understanding.

The nurses and doctors I dealt with were ALL amazing.. They were Always there when I called. The only issue was the length in emergency room waiting for a bed.. I have to give 4.5 to 5 stars

Always good. MVH is thorough and forthright. I have had experiences with Pittsburgh hospitals that were of lesser value. If, you think you can do better, by all means, go downtown.......you won't experience the same level of care and compassion, not to mention sanitation and safety. I've been there, I know. I prefer to stay in the Valley. I am very happy with the care I receive at Mon Valley, Some of the finest doctors have overseen my care and saved my life and I am forever grateful,. It's up to you to be treated like a number or a person. Choose wisely. Thank you, MVH!

I'm visiting from deep south Georgia and suffered with severe back problems for 3 months. After visiting a hospital twice and an orthopedic surgeon twice in Georgia with no diagnosis. Mon Valley diagnosed me with a disc infection within 2 hours of walking through the door. Friendly knowledgeable nurses/doctors. Came on a early Monday morning NO WAIT!

I went today for a lung screen test in the radiology section. I was registered and tested lickety split.

That was 9 AM and by 3 PM I had the results. I had a good experience. I recommend this hospital for the treatment that I had done.
