Very cute smallish metal MARS spaceship in the corner of the town square. Nice for a quick visit and few photo ops; especially with kids. Not as big as I thought it would be, but large enough to fit a couple of small Martians. There is also a solid brass bell from the USS MARS navy ship on display next to the spaceship. It served for 30 years. A few good shops around the square area as well to visit and enjoy.

One of those great roadside attractions!! If you’re gonna visit Mars, wouldn’t you expect to see a flying saucer? Lots of other fun “out of this world” things to see in Mars.

I served on the USS MARS AFS-1 from March 1968 to March 1970. For over 50 years, I have wanted to visit Mars, Pa, its namesake.

Outstandingly hilarious. Good for Mars for embracing their name and making it a fun place to swing through. We did not get to shop in the town because they were hosting an annual street festival. All the tents took over our attention. But the town itself looks charming and like a nice place to stp by for a coffee or window shopping.

What an awesome small town! I would have never known about it had I not routed to Mars Flying Saucer. Come here if you have the time.

It's a cute little statue near the center of town, even though the town is named after the USS Mars and not the planet.

Nice, tidy little park in a nice, tidy little town that -apparently- has a BIG sense of humor!! Also enjoyed ships bell of Navy vessel, as I'm a retired Sailor.

Quaint treasure located in out-of-this-world Mars, Pennsylvania. Gets lit up for Christmas with an alien on top. Back a few years ago it used to move around town and show up on people's lawns. So much fun. Who doesn't like a flying saucer??

I grew up in Mars in the early 70's. This statue was not there then. This is a nice little kitchy attraction. The USS Mars ship is a nice tribute. The tow was not named after the ship. The town was founded by a family named Marshall, and that's where Mars a shorted name came from. Not the planet or the ship. I was there during the town's centennial celebration and the history was printer in a centennial flyer.

I'm posting more about the coffee shop. We stopped later in the day and the gentleman working went out of his way to make a fresh pot just so our coffee would be good. This speaks volumes about the type of service you get here. Aiming to please, attention to detail, and informative about local events. It was an unexpected stop, yet a great experience from the moment i stepped foot on the property walking up past the decorations, garden plants, etc.. til I walked back with my coffee.
Thank you very much and I will go out of my way to stop by any time I'm in the area. I especially hope to catch them when they have the live music/entertainment. Great place to go. 👌

While dodging rain drops, we made a quick stop at the space craft. Took a few photos and moved along. Not something I expected to see on this weekend trip. 😀

Mars Pennsylvania is one of my favorites to be there's so much to do there but the sad thing is that the shop and save in mars is now a salvage place

Did the person who named this town genuinely have an interest in things pertaining to the cosmos?

Because there is a town called Moon not too far away near the airport.
And in the opposite direction, you can find Apollo.

The Mars Flying Saucer is a metal UFO that visitors may walk up to and touch. Do not expect to spend much time here, but the flying saucer is fun to see and to take photos of.

If you are from Pittsburgh it only about a 45 to and hour drive, it's fun to take photos with family here. The town is also very pleasant to drive threw.
