Skunk Hollow Tavern

As a local, it was hard to believe this place could be so good since we had never heard about it and it is in the middle of nowhere! Went for a friend's birthday dinner and, wow, what a treat! It is in several small rooms of a very old house that used to be an inn. The eclectic atmosphere and historic ambiance made for a warm and homey vibe. You need to make reservations because seating and parking are limited. We sat at the bar, which seats 6, where Heidi took great care of us. What a sweetheart! The drinks were amazing, and the food was top-notch, local, fresh, everything made from scratch!! This means it takes a little longer to prepare, and it was pricey but well worth it for a special occasion. We will definitely be back! It is family-owned, and everyone, even the chef, interacted with the guests - you can feel the family ties here. These folks have a very special thing going on, and it is working, and apparently, has been for many years. It didn't appear that the building was wheelchair accessible and the bathrooms were up very narrow stairs on the 2nd and 3rd floors, so if you have mobility issues, this may not work for you.

We called ahead two hours in advance and got a reservation in the upstairs dining area. It was such a cute and cozy place. Everyone was very polite and friendly. The waitress was funny and very knowledgeable, we felt right at home. The cocktails were delicious and the food was excellent. We would definitely go again!

Beautiful tavern with indoor dining room and outdoor dining, wonderful, fun & friendly staff, and the food is amazing! Menu changes and ingredients change for the dishes but fresh and creative and served hot. The stuffed mushrooms were perfect and burgers are one of the best we have had. So glad we went-loved the name!

Best meal we have had in a very long time! Food, drinks, ambiance, and staff (especially the bartender) were all amazing! Highly recommend the shrimp app and bourbon mule, as well as the chicken enchilada! Can't wait to go back 😊

What a cool, off the beaten path place! The food was amazing, almost fine dining and great beer selection. Make reservations, it is that good.

We have been regulars for 20 years. They make a drink specially for us. We walk in and whoever is behind the bar starts making it. Chicken Carlos is a favorite and Carlos also has a way with pork. We have several revolving favorite appetizers and entrees on the menu. Gretchen's desserts, especially the chocolate raspberry cake, are wonderful and her homemade ice cream rock. The wait staff make dining there a fun experience. Love the Skunk!!!

Always a delight, never fails to have a superb meal. The fish and chips are superior to any. Gretchen's baking from the popovers to her desserts, unreal. Carlos can cook like nobody's business. I always feel comfort and happiness and well taken care of. A treat.

Exceptional food paired with a wonderful atmosphere, generated by a beautiful property and a warm, friendly wait staff. Happy to accommodate my gluten allergy. Any seat in the house would be great, but if you get a chance, try for some garden seating. Also, the open mic tunes on Wednesday were awesome.

This place was wicked cool... drinks and music downstairs... great dinning room upstairs.. food was sooooo good. Try it out.

Lovely people, and the hamburger, fish & chips, and chocolate mousse were all delicious. Cool open mic night downstairs on Wednesdays.

Food & service was excellent. Parking is somewhat of a problem. We parked at the church next door.

This restaurant is seemingly in the middle of nowhere in an old Vermont farmhouse. But it's worth the drive for this fun and interesting atmosphere and one-of-a-kind experience. Skunk Hollow has a strangely eclectic menu that includes things you'd expect - like a good old burger (enjoyed by one of my dinner companions) to a cheese enchilada (which is what I had & was shockingly super delicious). Locals seem to know to get there early to snag the best seats & if you came for the live music (open mic night is on Wednesday, I believe) make sure you request a table downstairs. You may even want to make a reservation so you don't miss out.

We loved EVERYTHING at the Skunk. Food perfectly cooked and delicious. Waitstaff awesome, we even met the owner and she was so welcoming. Can’t wait to return!!

This place gets 10 stars all the way! Fabulous,excellent fresh food! The atmosphere is warm,cozy and people are so friendly. The service is the same! This is definitely a don't miss!! My favorite restaurant in the upper valley!!

One of the most authentic Vermont pubs and restaurants around. Great music and atmosphere on Wed, Fri, etc. Great food and people. Popcorn, local brews, pizza of the day, chicken Carlos, and more. Play 9 holes of disc golf at Hartland Rec and head to the skunk for the night. Start upstairs if you are in need of quiet, but end up downstairs for most or all the time. Reserve downstairs or show up early on music nights.
