Great place to work! Full of daily opportunity to make a difference and aide those with serious mental health issues in living a more robust and fulfilling quality of life... A place where dignity and respect mingle with with humanity and compassion daily.

The facility also is home to a beautiful little museum which serves as a relic to the history of the mental health system as well as history of Berks! The historic building's and their beautifully maintained architecture are also something to behold. Not to mention the multiple ghost stories that fill the campus with a spiritual feel as well.

The employees who work at this hospital are very dedicated to helping their patients get well. Everyone from the Chief Medical Officer and CEO all the way to the Psychology Dept., Nursing, Housekeeping and Maintenance, TRULY care about their patient's well-being. In the past, I have had the pleasure of working with the employees and I know first hand how professional and caring they are. The main focus of this hospital is to help the patients get well, understand their illness and triggers and to learn to modify their behavior. Patients attend classes daily to learn about their individual condition and how to respond in a healthy way to situations and stress. Those who want to can work in a supervised, sheltered Workshop or the Canteen, or grow vegetables (to sell to employees) and learn job skills and earn money which helps them regain their dignity and independence. Upon discharge, the patient has a 'tool kit' and a support system in place to help them successfully live outside of the hospital environment. I love the fish pond and flower gardens they have. The campus is absolutely beautiful and well maintained. It was a joy to go to work everyday there and work with such dedicated employees.

I’ve never been admitted here, but professionally had different encounters with individuals in need and this place really provides a lot of support for the mh population. It takes a ton of love and determination to be at this place 8 hours every day. The staff is super professional and empathetic. I love this place

I haven't personally been here but my daughter Shayn was here for about a year. They helped her A LOT so I am very thankful for them. Thank you for helping me get my BEAUTIFUL AMAZING WONDERFUL daughter back! I love her more than words can say!!!

I was a resident at Wenersville state hospital. The staff are amazing not to mention the food and portion sizes are Beasty!

This place is an absolute joke. They over medicate, to the point of having zombie like patients walking around. The staff is very cold. I have personally heard staff making fun of residents and violating hippa on numerous occasions. There are defitnitly a lot of uncaring unprofessional staff members. I have met a few that are beyond amazing, like 2 or 3. They cover up a lot. Its a horror house for the majority of residents.

I'm a former patient unforenetly I was there in 2005 into 2006. I feared for my life every second I was there. Staff would just sit around and do nothing. They treated the patients like ##**##** Food disgusting. VERY DIRTY!!!!!!!!!

Please do not send anyone u care about here. This is a death camp for mentally ill patients. They do not care for their patients at all. They overmedicate and phsically abuse patients.
