My wife and I attended the Grand Opening of the new Palmer’s Museum on the campus of Penn State University. What a wonderful experience. The new building is well organizing, and there is plenty of space for quite a few exhibit halls. We didn’t stay to tour the Arboretum, but we plan to revisit this summer.

A gem on the campus. Beautiful building, 20 galleries, and designed with the community in mind. Paired with The Arboretum, it's a great day for everyone who loves art and nature.

It is not the largest campus art museum there is, but it certainly has some quality. A good range of pieces from sculpture, glasswork and pottery, and a vast array of paintings they range from 1500s to present. There is no admission charge; donations are always welcome. I was quite pleased and surprised to find some of the works here, such as ones by Thomas Hart Benton and Edwin Church, whose works of America always bring a smile to my face. There are rotating displays, and the current one is on American paintings from the collection. Also, this place gets wicked icicles when the conditions are right. Soon, it will be moving across the street to the arboretum where it will have more space for works and such. I think it is certainly worth a visit if a Penn State student or in town for whatever reason, cheers.

This is a great museum!! All of the art is amazing and admission is free! The photography gallery in particular is stunning, with a few Warhols and many other great photos. There are also a lot of older paintings from the 1600s-1700s that are beautiful, and the modern gallery is really fascinating and makes you think. Overall, a lovely museum!!

Small museum, but very nice collection. Very cool building as well.
Pottery and glass exhibits were amazing for a museum of this size.
Second floor was closed as the museum will be moving soon, but definitely worth a visit while on campus.

So much to appreciate here! I took my teen, tween, and elementary student. They enjoyed it, we only wish it were larger, with me at to spend more time enjoying all of it. The staff were all friendly and the facility itself was nice. The shop wasn't open on this Saturday, which Isa but if a bummer, I like museum shops a lot! 😊 Our visit to see both floors of all the spectacular art lasted less than an hour, there's a lot more than only what is shared here in photographs. Free admission & definitely worth it if you're in the area!

After 16 years of living in Central PA this was my first trip the Palmer. I was only able to stay long enough to see the first floor this visit, but I enjoyed a variety of paintings and glass collection, including pieces from the amazing Chihuly. Admission is free. It was not crowded. Really lovely!

I’m really impressed by this the museum. The collection focuses on American artists pieces from early 20th century to more contemporary. It also has pottery collection from Asian back to the 16-17th century to modern western creations. It’s a gem on PSU campus!

honestly it's incredible that this museum is free. its a good size and has lots of art ranging from 17th-19th century paintings, ceramics, contemporary art, etc. also features a lot of art from past Penn State faculty / Pennsylvania folks. there's also a rotating exhibit on the second floor. I always spend at least a few hours here whenever I go

This was surprisingly great. Not that I know anything about art. But it felt like I was seeing some really nice pieces.

Surprisingly good for a free museum in State College! Not a very big museum, but they have a good variety of art and even some big names like Alexander Calder and Cindy Sherman. They also sometimes have good temporary exhibits.

The glass art collection always blows my mind. Diverse artist line Palmer walls in the Museum maze of gallery gall. Each genre lit dark, bright, or dim. Gifted, bought, or friends of friends gift friends. Each piece of art is truly a passionate sin. Win, loss, or tie it doesn't matter when it's art. Observe and appreciate abstract smarts.
