Great local shoe store, with the most friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. And, they periodically offer great sales — we have sought shoes and socks here for several years and are happy to be on their e-mail list.

Most recently, Blair — one of their several terrific salespeople, devoted time and attention to help me select the right pair of pull-on winter boots — offering alternatives and advice which have proven perfect. You can shop here with confidence!

This store has great options for wide feet (New Balance, Altra, Hoka, etc.) and friendly, patient staff members who are extremely knowledgeable and will help you find exactly what you’re looking for. I was slightly disappointed that they did not carry many women’s styles below a size 7, but they always offer the option of special ordering to the store. Most sale prices are reasonable, with the clearance section being the best deals. As a minority race person shopping in Vermont, I felt both comfortable and welcome in the store, making this a positive shopping experience!

I'd like to express appreciation for Sensible Shoe for staying around while so many other retailers have closed over the past several years. It's so nice to have a great place to buy shoes without having to drive an hour away. The staff there has always been great! Yesterday, I went in to buy a pair of hiking shoes that I need for a trip. The salesperson was very attentive and helpful. I wasn't even in the store for 30 seconds before he was offering his help. Shopping is just not my favorite thing. I consider it a necessary chore. The salesperson, however, was so friendly and knowledgeable that it was a very pleasant experience. He found me exactly what I needed and I was in and out of there in 10 minutes. He even informed me of a discount I had coming to me and saved me a good chunk of change. If I had caught his name, I would certainly give him a shout-out here. Thanks again!

I have not had one bad experience out of the 7 times I’ve purchased shoes here. In fact, it’s such a good experience that it will be the only place I ever buy my shoes from in the future. As Hank Hill says, you need to have a guy for everything… Sensible Shoes is my shoe guy!!

You can not match the customer service and the knowledge of the employees here. Today, I walked in and was greeted immediately. I told them what I was looking for, tried on and fitted for a pair of work shoes and a pair of hiking shoes, and was out of the store in a timely manner. And I was able to save quite a bit of money with a couple of sale prices they had going. The gentleman that helped me was a top notch example of what customer service should look like.

Came in for new shoes because of foot pain. The guy working was very knowledgeable and friendly. Helped me find two pairs of shoes that actually feel good on my feet. Great experience overall.

I had the best shoe-buying experience I have ever had yesterday at Sensible Shoe! Blair was an outstanding help and the most knowledgeable person I've ever talked to when purchasing a new pair of sneakers. I work on my feet all day, so I wanted to make sure I was purchasing the right kind of shoes with ample support. Blair took the time to work with me to find the right pair of sneakers, answering all of my questions in detail, even staying after they closed for 30 minutes to help me out (I didn't realize they closed at 5, sorry!!). Would highly recommend and definitely doing all my shoe shopping here from now on. Thanks again so much Blair! 5 star service.

As sugar makers my guys put a lot of miles on their feet and Sensible Shoe is the only place we shop for boots. Staff is very knowledgeable and helps us find the perfect boot for the right season.

Was coming through town as an AT they hiker. Had no way of getting to the store to replace my 700 mile Altras. Called and they had the exact size and even color I wanted. The owner himself drove them to me, in town, after closing. Really cool guy and saved me a bunch of hassle.

Another great experience at Sensible Shoe! The customer service is the best around. Blair helped me find a nice pair of low ankle Keens that fit my needs with pace and a great attitude. He took the time to show me multiple brands and types in multiple sizes until I found the right one. He even looked up my purchase history to help me understand the sizing I'd purchased in the past, which was an integral part of my decision. He took the time to answer every one of my questions with an honest and thorough answer. He also took the time to run me through their aetrex scanner, finding me the best pair of orthotics for my foot type. (These things are worth every penny, it's not just an add-on sale, they really do help!) I highly recommend Sensible Shoe, I never leave disappointed.

I ordered two pairs of shoes at the end of July.
The first pair that came in fit great and I was happy with the quality and comfort of the shoes.When I received my second pair of shoes I was very happy but they didn't fit quite right. Unfortunately I didn't try them on when I picked them up however when I realized that there was a problem I was able to send them back and order a different pair no problem. Except for the misunderstanding on my part about when to expect the order I am very happy about the service and quality of the footwear this establishment carries. And because of my unusual foot size I was able to have the toe of my left shoe stretched. I appreciate the friendly service that I received.

We just moved to the area and the folks here were incredibly helpful in assisting us with finding some adequate footwear for outdoor use. Everyone working there is incredibly polite and we ended up spending more time talking with them than shopping for shoes since their recommendations were perfect for us. If you appreciate local, family owned businesses and are looking for new socks or shoes you should 100% stop by Sensible Shoe.

Sensible Shoes have a decent selection and helpful employees with a no/low pressure sales approach. My wife gets all her nonslip work shoes here, and I've been able to score a few excellent deals on their sales shelves, even in women's size 11!

My family has been doing business with Sensible Shoe for over 20 years. The service, the selection and the friendly and familiar manner we've come to expect is a constant. Other shoe stores have come and gone. Big chain stores and mall outlets, just cannot come close to the experience that Sensible Shoe provides. We love getting advice on shoes, and expect that a professional will help us get the right fit, for the right activity, at the right price. The staff is the same, so when I make a purchase, I'm dealing with an old friend. If a product fails, I have an advocate at Sensible Shoe to help me get reparation. The have a record of all the shoes, my family has purchased and I can call up and re-order a favorite shoe and know they will call when the shoe comes in or they will ship it, like they did when my daughters were away at college. What can I say? They are the best.

Best looking shoes in the area. Period. They are higher end shoes so you're going to pay more, but it's worth every penny. They stand behind their products and do everything they can to get the best shoe for you. Staff is super cool and make you feel like you're their buddy. Just a fun place to shop.
