Capitol Diner

We met family here as it was convenient for them on their way from Lancaster to Harrisburg. We enjoyed wonderful service and a great atmosphere. Our youngest love the kids French toast as the kitchen staff gave her strawberry, banana and whipped cream - just the way she likes it. The adults tried various omelettes and they were all good with generous portions. One of us had the baked oatmeal and it was delicious as well. I don’t think you can go wrong at the Capitol diner for a hearty breakfast. Thanks!

This was the best breakfast place. Food was delicious. Service was quick and friendly. A crowded place which made me know that this a favorite among the locals. You won't be disappointed.

Very much enjoyed our meal at the Capitol Diner! And our server Katya, was great, thank you!! I love a traditional diner, the decor, the shiny surfaces and the gigantic menus. Everything that we ordered was very good to excellent. Pancakes were big and fluffy, the hash browns were well cooked. The country fried steak was really terrific and the gravy was very flavorful! I loved it.

Great throw back to the 50's vibe. Katherine was out server. So nice and friendly. All the staff were friendly.
Highly recommend. I had the Belgian waffle 🧇 my husband had a chicken Philly sandwich and fries 🍟. All delish.

I love this diner the country fried steak is so good the homefries bacon 🥓 and pancake 🥞 are excellent the staff is so friendly and always checking up on you to make sure if you more coffee and how's everything. This place is so good my wife got us all some cake 🎂 for my birthday and that was good the pictures is from July 2 2023 and sorry for the late review. Thank You

Delicious food! The plates are good portions and taste very good. The service was excellent, specially our waitress Lora. Even she was super busy and rush, always have a smile and take good care of our orders. Definitely coming back on next vacations!

Everything was very good, loved the old school Classic diner feel, a great stop all things considered.

We eat here pretty much EVERY DAY for breakfast lunch dinner and dessert LOL and the food is ALWAYS AMAZING! We really don’t eat anywhere else anymore 🙂 The staff is always so nice & the waitresses pretty much all know me by name already 😆🥰 My new favorite is the Red velvet cheesecake! It’s DELICIOUS!!! We love this diner so much & definitely recommend to everyone! If I could give unlimited ⭐ I would!

Had Thanksgiving dinner takeout meals for 3 for first time here . Only waited 5 minutes for curbside delivery.

Food was surprisingly very good. Only drawback was that the gravy was on the salty side.

Would definitely get dinners on Christmas if they're serving.

The server was FANTASTIC she made great conversation and was attentive throughout our whole meal. The omelette was great, we enjoyed the Scrapple as well!

The food at Capitol Diner exceeded my expectations. I tried the pancakes, Philly cheese sandwich, and a milkshake, and overall, it was a satisfying culinary experience. The milkshake was exactly what you would expect from a diner, thick and creamy. The Philly cheese sandwich was a standout, surpassing the quality of most similar dishes I've had before, especially considering it came from a diner. However, the pancakes were average, neither exceptional nor disappointing.

Service:
The service at Capitol Diner was impeccable and played a significant role in making our visit memorable. The owner, whom I believe was the one attending to the guests, went above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction. He approached our table multiple times, genuinely interested in our well-being and eager to strike up a conversation. We shared our day's adventures, including a visit to Hershey Park and attending a wedding, and he took the time to engage with us. The waitress was equally fantastic, attentive and friendly throughout our meal.

Atmosphere:
The true charm of Capitol Diner lies in its delightful atmosphere. It successfully captures the essence of a bygone era, radiating a quaint and "old-fashioned" ambiance. While the decor may evoke nostalgia, there was no sense of anything being outdated or run down. I can't express enough how much I wish more restaurants would embrace this style and bring back the joy it offers. The combination of warm hospitality, cozy surroundings, and a touch of nostalgia created a truly unique dining experience.

Overall:
Our visit to Capitol Diner left us thoroughly satisfied. From the exceptional service to the well-prepared food, everything exceeded our expectations. The cleanliness of the establishment and the kindness of the staff further enhanced our dining experience. If I ever find myself in the Harrisburg area again, Capitol Diner would undoubtedly be at the top of my list for a return visit. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a delightful meal in a charming and hospitable setting.

Very nice place. We had the club sandwich with fries, the chicken pot pie and the open faced roast beef sandwich with gravy, mashed potatoes and cream of broccoli soup. A lot of food and the prices were very reasonable. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Do believe I'll be going back.

My husband often meets a friend at this place for breakfast or dinner. He always says it's so good. I finally was able to go with him for dinner. Everything was just wonderful! Will most definitely be returning.

It was our waitresses first day and she did an excellent job. Food was plentiful, delicious, and served quickly. I had pot pie which was not like I’m used to with a crust but served with a couple dumplings. My husband had meatloaf and couldn’t finish all of it. Our friends got chili and hot Turkey sandwich. We saved room to share a delicious slice of a pie. No complaints here at all.

I went with a friend of mine today and oh boy where do I start. Staff is very friendly, the place is clean and they have a large variety of options to eat. I got blueberry pancakes, a burger, and onion rings. The pancakes are massive! About the size of a dinner plate. The portions are huge! My advice would be come here if you are in the brink of starvation so that you can enjoy every ounce of the food. We will definitely be returning to try the meatloaf and lasagna :)

One of my favorite breakfast restaurants in this town! Because it’s a great place it seems to be quite busy every morning especially weekends, but despite that fact, they always have plenty of fast & helpful waitrons that always make it a great dining experience. Very cool retro vibe and the cleanliness is great too!

Beautiful decor, spotlessly maintained. Staff are friendly, service is quick, food is very tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed our Capitol Breakfast with French toast, and the 2-egg breakfast with biscuit instead of toast. We would absolutely eat there again if we are in the area.

This was my very first time here. The waitress was FANTASTIC, and the cream chipped beef(sos for the PA Dutch)was very good. I expected it to be from a can, but I was absolutely wrong. It's made "in house" I actually couldn't even finish it all. I ended up taking the waffle home, but it was SOOOO GOOD! I also got cheesecake to go on my way out, which was to die for, I would recommend stopping in here if you're ever in the area. Everything was so good, and everyone in there seemed to work as a well oiled machine. Definitely give it a try. I'm sure you won't regret it.

Super fantastic. The best Hollandaise sauce on the Eggs Benedict I've had in 35 years.
They actually serve properly prepared corn beef hash! 😀
