Stargazer Cast Iron Reviews

Stargazer skillets are incredible. The few bad reviews have one thing in common: The user isn't familiar with cast iron skillets. Cast iron is a different animal than the Stainless or Teflon coated stuff you buy at the big box store. For those of us that know how to use cast iron and enjoy it, Stargazer is amazing. The design is fantastic, the machining is superb and the seasoning (if you get yours pre-seasoned) is flawless and a gorgeous bronze. For those of us that have restored old cast iron, you know that bronze is what you get before you have done several cooks. People are so used to Lodge and that ugly black textured finish they don't know what quality looks like anymore. Cooking with cast iron is an art and Stargazer is the canvas of choice for those in the know.

Stargazer Cast Iron is an incredible place to learn about cast irons. We had an opportunity to tour their facility in Allentown and meet with their team. I am very impressed with the quality of the cast iron and how much pride they take in the finished product. I’m going to order mine today! You won’t be disappointed. Made is USA.

Stargazer is hands down the best cast iron out there. Have had ours for a few months and it's been fantastic. It cleans so well w/ the smooth interior, the handle is the best on a cast iron skillet. It does stay cool so much longer. I also bought a Finex at the same time and I regret that every time I use it. It was twice the price and doesn't even compare. It just sits in the cupboard now. Seasoning seems to be a little slow to build due to the smoothness, but it is coming along. This is the only pan I use now, so glad I got both sizes. Looking forward to seeing future offerings from Stargazer.

PRICE:
The price for the pan itself is very well. Shipping was a little on the high side (to Canada), but that is out of their control, so I can’t hold that against them.

FINISH:
The finish of the cooking surface is phenomenal. It’s flat, smooth, and the hand finished polishing is extremely well done. It doesn’t feel like “glass” like the old antique cast does, it almost feels like it was blasted with a very, very fine blasting media. It almost feels “frosted”, but not quite. Whether or not this is how they do it, I don’t know.

Don’t let this seem like a bad thing - it’s a great finish and promotes even seasoning. I added several additional layers once I got it, and it had gradually and evenly darkened into almost a chestnut colour. There are no splotches or unevenness. It took the season perfectly, and consistently, and now, it feels like glass.

HANDLE:
The handle is larger than what I’m normally holding onto, it it’s well shaped. It gives you a very nice and sturdy grip. If you have smaller hands, it might feel awkward. But that is what the helper handle is for.

OVERALL:
I couldn’t have asked for a better cooking vessel. I just wish i would have gotten then 12!

I love this 10 1/2 inch pan. I have found I never need to have my electric burner higher than low and everything cooks to perfection without burning. Clean up is a breeze, the extra lift handle makes handing it quite easy. Have just placed an order for the 12 inch pan. Happy home chef.😁

I bought the smaller skillet because I really wanted to try a good, quality cast iron skillet. This one is lighter weight than typical cast iron but still good, heavy duty quality. And the cook surface is so smooth. I still try to clean it right and continue to built the seasoning but the seasoned skillet (I ordered mine seasoned) is ready to use out of the box and is pretty non stick. One day I'll order the bigger skille . Looking forward to seeing what else they will offer.

Ordered a 10” pan back in late August after doing a lot of research on the best of the best cast iron pans. Stargazer was a contender on almost all of the reviews. When I found out that they are making these only a few miles from my house I knew I had to support a local company.

Due to COVID the order took about 2 months to fulfill. No worries there and it was absolutely worth the wait.

The day it arrived I grabbed some steaks and threw them on the pan. I’ve never gotten such an amazing crust!

The ergonomics on this pan are perfect for me. The long handle and v-shaped connection to the pan help with heat soak into the handle. I still need to use a pot holder for high heat cooks but finer things like eggs that cook on a lower heat haven’t been too hot to handle.

100% satisfied customer and looking forward to many more years cooking on this amazing cast iron pan.

My wife and I absolutely love our Stargazer cast iron pan. We have been using Lodge cast iron for a while and never knew how much better it was to step up and get a smooth cast iron pan from the start. We went with the 10.5" seasoned and for the extra few dollars it was worth it. I seasoned the new pan 4 times before cooking anything in it, then cooked some scrambled eggs in it. I did as recommended to use a little extra oil the first few times cooking and nothing stuck to the pan. I highly recommend using the Crisbee puck to season it. We are ordering the 12" Stargazer right now.

My first cast iron skillet. Really like the smooth cooking surface. Requires seasoning in oven and still a week of cooking before it was totally none stick cooking. Skillet could really use a lid option. Really like the handle and overall quality of craftsmanship of the skillet. Will definitely buy another.

As more men migrate to the kitchen the demand for good cast iron skillets will become more popular.
I am 73 years young. I grew up eating from cast iron skillet. I bought one from China. It was junk. I bought Lodge, a good skillet but required much effort to get it seasoned.
STARGAZER is ready to go right out of the box. The longer, cooler handle, extra large helper handle, great drip control edge and lighter weight are great extras.
The price is a great deal. Men, get yourself one before demand drives the price way up.

Look no further, you've found your favorite new pan! Stargazer cast iron is not only beautiful (it has a kind of golden metallic surface) and functional (the additional handle opposite the main handle helps to steady it while transferring and cleaning it), it cooks delicious food without sticking and cleans up before you can say "Time for dinner!"
I recommend using the blend of oil they suggest to flavor it.

I purchased the 10.5 - bare skillet for my husband as a Christmas present in 2017. We’ve used the skillet at least a twice a week since then and we absolutely love it! We definitely recommend Stargazer products to anyone looking for quality cast iron.

Bought one and enjoyed it so much, we bought a second. We are a couple and didn't need larger pans, so two 10" pans is exactly what we need. The finish is exquisite. We have one more cast iron pan that dates back to the 40's (same size); its handle is too small and it has no aux handle so it is difficult to handle. The Stargazer removes all those obstacles and performs beautifully. Cleanup is the easiest I've ever had in any pan. Just use a SS chain mail square and then some paper towels! Nothing sticks hard. The key is to allow the pan to heat up before using it.

I cannot tell you how much I love my Stargazer skillet! I look for excuses to use it. I really like that it weighs less than the older cast iron pans, and the fact that the handle stays cool is great. The skillet was perfectly seasoned when it arrived and is even better after using it for about a month. The best!

The Best of the Best!

Purchased the 10.5 Skillet first and then subsequently purchased the 12-inch skillet. Hands down... these are the best designed cast iron skillets on the market today. Absolute pleasure to cook with.

If you're in the market for a cast iron skillet, I highly recommend Stargazer.

Purchased the 10.5 inch pre-seasoned cast iron from them for the Valentine's Day sale. And I use it virtually every day! Lightweight great design Cook's amazing. Minor personal issue with how the handle feels while caring the pan but it's minor. We just need some amazing lids for your amazing pans!

I have had a Stargazer cast iron pan for around a year now and have loved every second of it. The smoother finish really helps with non stick cooking and the craftsmanship of the pan is spot on. I’ll be buying other products from them in the future.

I have used the Lodge cast iron for years; however, after watching a YouTube video reviewing cast iron skillets by Cowboy Kent Rollins I elected to purchase the Stargazer. I must admit - Stargazer's support of the military also was a nice push in the purchase direction. As a Vietnam vet it is nice to get that recognition - Thank you Stargazer...and love the skillet.

Got the Stargazer pre-seasoned Cast Iron frying pan awhile ago. It's amazing! After years of using non-stick pans that didn't last, I decided to try cast iron. It is the most non-stick pan I have ever used. The only problem I have with it is that I didn't get it sooner.

I have owned field, lodge, finex, and handled smithey. I have sold all of them. I believe you have created the next generation of functional cast iron. I love my vintage pieces but stargazer is such an impressive step forward. Easy to handle with both large handles and the smoothest surface, great weight and depth. I own a 10 sent a 12 as a wedding gift and am waiting on another 12 for myself. And at your prices, I tell everyone there really isn’t a close second, Stargazer. Customer service is fantastic as well.
