The Salmon Hole on the Winooski River

The Salmon Hole is one of my favorite overlook "parks with a very nice little trail (0.7 miles from Salmon Hole to the Intervale which then connects to more trails after a short walk down the road). The Salmon Hole itself offers nice views of the rock faces and falls/dam and mills that are part of Vermont's/Burlington's/Winooski's history and current gentrification efforts. Beyond the first stop at the water hole, you'll find a fairly well maintained trail with some stairs, bridges and boards through a quiet wooded trail that wonders along the river. Good for walking and some sections are appropriate for running/jogging as well. It's a lovely little trail and I've even seen bald eagles, great blue herons, hawks and deer in this area. I give it five stars for a simple, urban trail that is easy to access, not overly crowded, well maintained, and peaceful.

Area scenic with nice waterfalls and old rock formations. Also fish elevator for salmon and trout. Nice walkway suitable for biking. Also good for baby strollers and wheelchairs.

The Salmon Hole is a great place to picnic or relax. With exceptionally gorgeous views and a plethora of amazing local species of birds, fish, and flora, there’s something for every nature lover to enjoy!

A convenient walk away from the Winooski circle for food and shopping, make this your impulse stop to take a deep breath in nature!

Lovely fishing hole with picturesque views, tiered rocks for built in seating, sandt beach areas, hiking/walking trails...clean. Great place for a picnic.

Probably my favorite place to walk around and unwind. From the top you can look down and see right into the water on a sunny day, and then if you follow the path you can get right up on the water and walk along the winooski river. You also have a spectacular view of the old mill building and whitewater coming down the river

Great location for artists and photographers among other things.

Nice park with a nearby path down to the river that has steps and bridges for those of versatile mobility but also a somewhat longer but easier path for others with limited mobility.

Come here in late spring and early summer for very nice bass, salmon, and many other species of true Vermont fishing. Make sure to catch and release sturgeon or any other limited early spawning season catches!

This is one of my favorite hikes in the area. There are beautiful cliffs and rock formations. The river walk is a short trail that follows the winooski river. It is about .75 miles. A great short hike to take the kids on.

Nice park..clean and lots of trails

On my second cast i caught a huge bass, just under the bridge dam area with a worm. Nice place for fishing with friends and family. Nice trails for hiking too!

It's beautiful down there! For the most part it's private, it's quiet and you have beautiful views, love the river and nature is all around you. All kinds of trails to walk down and create somewhat of a small adventure..

Small parking lot off Riverside Ave. Short trail to riverbank, where you have a beautiful view of waterfall and Winooski mills. Saw some gar (prehistoric looking fish) rising in the pool. Never seen anything like it.

Didn't fish for salmon here... But I tested the water out with my feet. I approve. Nice spot to hang out and enjoy a moment.

Nice fishing spot..or just sit on the bench and watch the sun set...very relaxing spot.
