Vital Savings by Aetna

We had this years ago and it was good. Lots of choices of Dentists and decent discounts. I signed up again recently and found that this program is basically worthless now. My son needed his wisdom teeth extracted and after going to two different dentists on the plan, neither said they can give a vital savings discount. I even called vital savings in both cases, and they said the procedures did have a discount. Each Dentist makes their own choices and it appears they chose not to offer any discounts. Worthless. There are FAR fewer dentist on teh plan than years ago and most are the discount type national chains. UGH

Buyer beware!

I joined the Aetna Vital Savings Plan in 5/2022 because it advertised 15% to 50% savings on most dental services.

I went to Dental Associates of CT because they were on the list of participating providers.

There was no discount on my 5/4/22 visit bill totaling $306.00 and there was a $34.00 discount on my bill dated 11/9/22 totaling $237.00.

A 15% discount would have amounted to $81.45, my total discount was $34.00, not even half that.

As a result I canceled the service and requested a full refund of the membership cost paid. Aetna denied the refund.

None of the dentists on their list that I wanted to use accepted Aetna vital Savings. Don't make the same mistake I did. Call the dentists you want to use and verify everything BEFORE you join.
