We just purchased a 2019 Hyundai Accent from Paya’s North. This is our 4th vehicle that we have purchased from Paya’s. They treat us very well and make purchasing a vehicle very easy. The vehicles are a great value for the money. I would highly recommend seeing Paya’s when shopping for your next vehicle!

In May 2022 my wife and I bought a Jeep Latitude from Paya's North--double sunroof, good-looking vehicle. Less than 48 hours later, we took the Jeep on on a cross-country trip to bring our daughter to college in New Mexico and do some sight-seeing. Over three weeks time, we traveled over 7,000 miles across 18 states. The vehicle, packed top to bottom with the necessities of college life (plus three people and a dog), performed flawlessly.
The Jeep is the fourth vehicle we've bought from Paya's in 15 years, and we've been happy every time. The Jeep had some minor scratches and dents from loading and shipping, so before we left on our trip, Paya's took pictures of the dings and fixed them when we returned. The vehicles we've bought from Paya's have always been as advertised and the service has always been good.

Was car shopping for a while and found these guys. The sales guy, Tom, was very responsive, extremely helpful and made the purchase of this car go so smoothly. (Tiffany was awesome too! ) I bought a 2017 Toyota Camry and I’m completely in love with it. . Great deals and low mileage! Will definitely buy another car from these guys.

We had such a great experience buying our van from Paya's North. We were hesitant to go through a dealership, but we are glad that we did. The van is wonderful, the COVID protocols were appreciated, and the support of our salesman Tom was adequate. We certainly recommend this dealership to others.

Carrie, Tom, and Brian have been great to work with! Although we had a few hiccups in the beginning, I love my Jeep and the customer service has been fantastic! If you're looking for a great vehicle, at a great price, with top-notch service, look no further!

Awesome experience!! I worked with Tom and Carrie, and they were both great!! It was painless, and I felt zero pressure. There was no hint of any "hidden" sales-pitch or butter-you-up comments. Everyone at Paya's is real down to earth, like real people!!

I knew what my specs were in general, and had no trouble looking up Paya's inventory online. But sometimes I... need a little help lol. Tom took my specs and sent me (multiple times!!) inventory lists filtered to show only the info I cared about. It saved me the time consuming process I typically go through when researching things, which involves a LOT of time clicking around, thinking, getting distracted, clicking around, asking myself 'what am I doing again?", burning dinner... The help I received was super friendly, and everyone was very knowledgeable (I ask questions. A lot).

When I decided on a car (the Chevy Equinox!!) I was dreading the signing of the paperwork. I allotted a good hour for it in my schedule. But it went SO FAST!! I didn't watch the clock but it was probably a 15-20 min process at most (including helping me put my plates on!).

OH and - ok - you won't get a better bang for your buck anywhere else. I was like how... are the prices so reasonable for cars in such good condition??? Compared to the other places I checked out, Paya's hands down had the best all around pricing. And there's not a bad car on the lot (which is NOT always the case for other pre-owned sellers). Seriously, check out any app/site out there (cars.com, carfax, craigslist, etc) and you won't find a better deal in this area. To get close to the price + quality at Paya's, you'd have to drive to another state (a good 4-5 hours from my home), which wasn't worth the gamble of the one great deal someone had on the lot which may or may not be as good in person.

I'd buy again from Paya's in a heartbeat, and continue to recommend them to friends/family. THANK YOU PAYA's for a GREAT experience!!!

(Oh yeah, couldn't wait to test the limits but putting a swingset on the roof haha)

I wrote the most glowing review just now, but my computer decided to crash and restart... so this may not be as good but:

I was searching for a new-ish Kia Soul with all the extras. One tricked out as much as possible goes for over $30,000 brand new (with tax). My wife has this same car and I love it, but there's no way I'm going to buy a brand new one again. When I searched the internet, several websites pointed to this dealership just 3 miles down the road from me that had the car I wanted, only a couple years old, with 13,000 miles and only asking $15,000 for it. The dealership? Paya's Auto in Essex.

The only free day off was the same day as a blizzard, yet someone was still inside. The woman in charge told me all about the business that's been around for 60 years. They buy cars that were auctioned off due to being in a flood zone somewhere in the United States. The titles are rebuilt, not totaled, which is important to know if you are a New York State resident, and they back all their sales with a warranty.

Anyway, the car I wanted was buried in snow so badly that you couldn't even make out one part. A salesman at the dealership, Tom Patterson, showed up and shoveled it out and started it up for me. I checked it out as best I could and came away impressed. Not a flaw to be found.

I went inside to talk turkey, but they assured me that their prices were so low that they couldn't go any lower. However, due to a technicality in their listing, I did manage to get another $750 off. ;) There were a few things in the car that I wanted adjusted, and they agreed to make it happen. We managed to get some financing the same day, and only a few days later, the car was delivered to my house by Tom! (I'm super busy, only 3 miles away, but still.....)

Over the course of the next 30 days, I found one thing that I wanted looked at (sunroof). They got the car in and looked at and back to me within 24 hours, problem solved.

One last thing to mention is that I drove this car around with the Paya's plate on it while I waited for my VT ones to come in. In doing so, there must have been a half-dozen people asking me about the dealership or telling me that they too shop from Paya's. I felt like the very last person to ever buy a car from this place.

From beginning to end, this dealership was a pleasure to work with. I loved the selection, the prices, and the people. Heck, they even have a nice big dog inside to greet you as you enter. I will be going back to get my next car, and so will my wife. Thank you Paya's!

EDIT: The picture attached is the very car I purchased, 45 days later, dirt and all.

EDIT2: It's almost 2 years later, the car is still running great. I still can't believe I got a near-new $30k vehicle w/ 13k miles for only $15k. It had a car starter installed on it when I got it too, which is super handy on these cold days. Best purchase I ever made.

**ONE YEAR UPDATE: I have so far had no issues whatsoever with my 2014 Ford Fusion, purchased in the fall of 2017 from Payas North. I still HIGHLY recommend this dealership. I had a minor issue with front rotors warping about 4 months ago, however, this was caused by living on a rough dirt road in the NEK with 18" super low-profile tires. The car is nearing 20K miles and is running beautifully.***

ORIGINAL REVIEW: Six months ago I purchased a 2014 Ford Fusion from Payas North. And while it's too early to give a full review on the quality of the vehicle, I can say that so far I am beyond pleased. I will be updating this review at the one and three year milestones, in hopes of accurately depicting my entire experience.

Payas buys vehicles at auction that have been deemed by insurance companies as "totaled." The cause is generally water-damage; the majority of their inventory was obtained after flooding or other significant storms. Upon receiving the vehicles, their service department yanks the upholstery, checks all wire housings, and replaces anything that has shorted out due to water-damage. All of their vehicles are sold with Rebuilt Titles. Something to keep in mind - a vehicle with a Rebuilt Title is worth roughly 15-20% less than one without, so keep that in mind when checking the KBB (Kelley Blue Book) for your car's value.

It is because of this, however, that Payas is able to offer prices far below market value. I was blown away by their low prices. I don't want to disclose the exact amount I paid, so let's just say that I spent $3,500 under what KBB tells me my vehicle is worth- even after subtracting 20% for having a rebuilt title, I paid less.

You are taking a risk, and that should definitely be acknowledged. Some cars may never have an issue, while others could potentially be plagued with them. This is where their warranty comes into play. Payas includes a 30 day warranty on mechanics, which isn't much. But water damage doesn't tend to affect mechanics, only electronics, and they also include a 1-year warranty on any electronics that aren't considered 'wearable' (such as headlamps, tire pressure sensors, essentially anything that wears down and eventually needs replacing regardless). The staff really eased my nerves about purchasing a car with a rebuilt title.

STAFF: The staff at Payas was extremely pleasant, and down to earth. They seemed very willing to help, and even said if something did go wrong, even after the warranty period, that dependent on what the issue was, they might be able to help out without charging if they felt it was fair. They were anything but the annoying, pushy and aggressive salesman that we are all too familiar with at most dealerships. The guys I worked with were very informative and answered any of my questions, without suggesting more expensive cars or pushing me to close the deal. I never felt rushed, by any definition of the word.

I will review their Service department separately, as they advertise these as two separate businesses here on Google. As for the car and buying experience, I couldn't be happier with my decision to shop at Payas North, and I highly recommend them.

Paya's is the place to go for a variety of nice, decently priced used vehicles. Tom Patterson is the best. He was friendly, upfront and informative about my 2018 Toyota Corolla. I was a bit anxious about the process but Tom took the time to talk with me, was reassuring and basically took care of all the related paperwork and answered any questions I had. They are even able to offer an extended warranty, which I was pleasantly surprised about. I would recommend Paya's to anyone looking for a good used vehicle and honest, good people to deal with.

We Bought a 2019 Chevy Impala from Tom at Paya's North. This is the second vehicle we have bought from them and the experience was just as good this time as it was the first. I went in and checked out the car talked to Tom about it and then went home and talked to my wife about it.we went back to test drive it,went back home talked about it in more detail , called Tom about a couple things I was concerned about and he took care of them no problem. After we bought it I went back to see Tom about a loose headliner in the trunk , he sent me over to their shop and Brian happily fixed it right away. One of the best things about Paya's is when you go in there to look at cars is there is no pressure and when you want to test drive a car they just hand you the keys and tell you to enjoy your ride. Most of the big dealerships the salesman wants to ride with you. I would highly recommend Paya's ,and especially Tom Patterson for your next Car buying experience.
Thanks Tom :

Paya's North helped me with everything I needed. Tom the salesman was very responsive in a timely manner and let me know about every detail. Super helpful having someone not shove random things down your throat. This was a very comfortable setting to buy a car in, much better service here then from what I've experienced at other dealerships. Also, very good deals!! I am very, very satisfied.

My family has purchased five cars from Paya's over the past ten years— all rock solid, dependable cars, and all purchased at excellent prices. Tom was patient and helpful, especially so when communicating with my bank. He made the process as easy as possible, and I never once felt pushed or pressured into my purchase. Thrilled with my Honda Accord! Can't recommend Paya's enough, do yourself a favor and check them out before going to other dealerships.

Just purchased my 4th vehicle from Paya's. Both Tom and Peter are great to work with. They have the best prices around for newer model, low mileage vehicles. I'll definitely check in when I'm ready to purchase number 5!

Bought a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica back in June and I've had the best service I've ever had from a car dealership with Paya's. The staff is always friendly and they made everything from financing to taking my vehicle home effortless. I would recommend anyone looking for a good deal and great customer service to shop at Paya's!

I purchased a new-to-me car from Tom at Paya's North about 4 months ago, upgrading from a 2008 with almost 200k miles on it to a 2018 with under 40k miles on it. Tom provided a great buying experience and found me affordable financing from a credit union just a mile away (I hate having to mail in payments). The vehicle has been 100% reliable for commuting and longer trips to southern Vermont to visit family. Not a single issue in the 4 months since I bought it.

We finalized our purchase of a 2019 Nissan Rogue from Paya's North today using Tom as our salesman. We were downsizing from a minivan to a small SUV and were pleased with the wide selection that Paya's had in it's inventory. We appreciated Tom's clear communication and attention to detail. He conscientiously answered our questions addressed our concerns.

I was in the market for a car last month and stumbled upon a civic that Paya’s was selling. Getting into a new vehicle can be stressful, but the sales rep Tom made it extremely easy and straightforward. He wasn’t pushy at all and gave the impression that he genuinely wants to see people get into a good reliable car for a good price and was very personable. Long story short we made it happen, and I love my new car. Would most definitely purchase another vehicle here!

My wife and I are repeat customers of Paya's, having purchased two vehicles (one in 2016 and again in 2019). Our buying experiences have been excellent, characterized by knowledgeable staff, no pressure sales, and the ability to answer all our questions for us to make an informed buying decision. Paya's team has always been honest with vehicle history and repairs, and we have never felt there were hidden issues. Our vehicles haven't needed any short term repairs, which is a testament to Paya's refurbishing processes, but we were comforted to know we could bring our "new-to-us" vehicle back for any issues in their warranty period. We have purchased many rebuilt vehicles, and tend to drive them to high mileage; we have been very happy with the longevity and savings by owning and driving rebuilt vehicles. On a customer service note, as the sales team brought our car out of the lot to take home, they noticed the wiper fluid was low and filled it for us before we left. Nice touch! We're sure when we have needs for a vehicle, we will be shopping on Paya's easy-to-use website again. We highly recommend Paya's based on our pleasant customer experiences.
