I absolutely enjoyed this place. I can’t rant about this cafe enough!

It’s a mom/pop shop that’s been around for a long time. It is super clean and cozy inside with plenty of seating.

The menu was vast with options for making almost any sandwich you can think off. They even had some yummy looking deli sides like potato’s salad. Etc

I ordered a half Italian sandwich and it was packed with Boars Head deli meats and it was absolutely fresh and fulfilling. Oooo and the bread! So good! Ideal crumb, baked to perfection.

I highly recommend, even if you’re on a quick lunch break; service was prompt and delightful

This is my favorite sandwich shop in Essex. I ordered an Italian Sub and it was delicious. Fresh veggies, great roll and quality meats. Sat in a sunny window. Relaxing and delicious. Thank you!

Absolutely phenomenal sandwiches paired with exceptional service! The staff members were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Emilio behind the counter truly standing out. Try the Dark side....its bomb.

What an amazing market deli. This is what new England is known for and Vermont holds the best. These Subs, Hoagies, Grinders, Heroes or whatever you call your sandwich they can do. They are the best around.

Ordered the Vermonter sandwich to go on sliced oat bread, so delicious! Definitely give them a try if you are searching for a true deli sandwich. I got the whole, and it was enough for two full meals. Highly recommend Martones.

They make the best chef salads. They are huge and I can feed myself, my boyfriend and the 2 teens off this 1 salad 😳. The price is so reasonable. Thanks Martones for being so awesome

Lived in Essex Junction for about a year and didn't try this place till last month. Not trying it sooner was a huge mistake! Fantastic sandwiches, the best in the aera, friendly staff, and a nice place. I'm quickly becoming a regular!

Delicious loaded sandwiches are amazing. Worth a drive up from White River Junction. The best in Vermont. Dark Side on a bun is deliciously over the top tasty. Friendly staff. Great seating.

Solid deli sandwiches with really good bread. They're big, so if you're a light eater, consider a half sandwich (which are still generous) or sharing one.

Definitely would recommend to anyone in the mood for a delicious sandwich! Huge servings, great for sharing or anticipating leftovers. Everything was very fresh. Service was easy and surprisingly quick considering how busy it was. Seating is quaint and home-like.

Have been coming here since I was a kid, best sandwich place ever!!! Love the deli style pickles, tuna pasta salad, macaroni salad, the sandwiches and wraps are huge and my favorite. Always my first stop when we are there for a visit!

Huge, mouth-busting sandwiches and wraps. They pile on the fresh veggies, fleshly sliced meat and cheese. It’s not cheap—$9-11—but I usually save the second half. There are so many options for meat/veggie/condiment/bread combinations, you could eat here every day and not have the same sandwich. You can get sprouts, peppers, hot peppers, all kinds of veggies. A newbie should stick with one of the many pre-designed sandwiches.

Best deli around. Their sandwiches are HUGE and stacked with high quality Boars Head meats, no nasty cheap stuff here. Half sandwich is usually enough for one person but grabbing a whole on a sub roll is easily a full meal for two. Ragin' Cajun, Vermonter, and Darkside are their best sandwiches but you really can't go wrong with anything. Great for eat in, or take out.

Wow. I got an Ol Smokey and sure wasn’t disappointed. Absolutely delicious sandwich. I got the potato salad to go with it and it didn’t even make it to the car. I’ll DEFINITELY be back. Thanks y’all for feeding this fella today.

This place ranks a solid "good" in my view. Because there are really no other delis around, this is the best in the area. The last couple of sandwiches I got were a tad dry, and the rolls were only so-so. The meat was fresh, and so were the vegetables. I would go again, but it might not be my first choice.

ALWAYS hopping! Big sizes (always get the “whole” and save it for a second meal — more bang for your buck)! Martones never goes wrong: fresh ingredients, laid back environment.
