I love small town diners with endless diner coffee. Small town values like quality food, sizable portions, and fair prices can be found here. It’s so refreshing to see small drown America hasn’t jumped on the price-gouging greed train. This place is a gem inside an old hotel with lovely staff and delicious food. I’ll be back for sure!

I went with a friend while visiting Atlantic. She indicated it as her favorite place to eat and I can definitely see why. The selection was great and the ambience was awesome. Wait staff was attentive, the food was great and out quickly....and what I liked the most was this HUGE piece of sour cream raisin pie that I ordered that tasted just like my Mom used to make for special occasions.

The hot beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy out of this world. Just order it already!

I go to the Downtowner for breakfast and the waitresses are very kind and respectful, they don’t let your coffee cup get empty, which I appreciate. The breakfast that I get is always good. They make sure their customers are taken care of. Definitely recommend.

Super place for lunch!! Used to be in a hotel but it has been converted to apartments and some offices. Great service and food!! They even have an outside patio for when it is warmer. Lots of history posted on the walls.

Down home place in an old hotel that's been refurbished. Lovely ladies serving home made meals like hot roast beefs, salads; and gluten free bread for hamburgers, really everything. Rubens...etc.

Busy small-town restaurant. Delicious food, friendly waitresses, efficient, and hometown feel.

Many varieties of absolutely delicious homemade pie; especially the not-so-easy-to-find sour cream and raisin! Hot Roast Beef sandwich and crispy sweet potato fries also notable. Staff was friendly and attentive. Atlantic should be proud!

It was busy but as always was delicious! I had the special (fried chicken dinner) and my hubby had our usual chicken fried steak and as usual was great. When we are in Atlantic @ lunch time, we always stop here.

Had a chicken ranch wrap and fried pickles. Very good!

Great ambiance. The servers seemed genuinely happy to be there. I left feeling like I belonged even though I was passing through. The food was delicious and inexpensive and the coffee was perfect! If you're hungry and in the area, don't pass up the Downtowner!

My first experience at the downtowner did not disappoint. Food was amazing, I had the best patty melt I've had in quite a while. Little brother and sister had some issue with the chocolate milk bit issue was fixed. Planning on coming again soon.

Amazing food. Everything was cooked perfectly. Hashbrowns were beautifully brown. Chicken fried steak was not overdone. The flavor was wonderful. The waitress was wonderful. She was on top of everything. Very friendly. Beautiful setting. I loved it. If I get a chance I will be happy to go back.

Fantastic food and coffee. I had the skillet breakfast which filled me up like no fast food ever could. The meal came out within 10 minutes, so it was quick too. Worth driving an extra 20 minutes from I-80 to get here. It has a 50s vibe and lots of Coca-Cola memorabilia. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive, and they keep a clean restaurant.

Great small town restaurant! I had a grilled cheeseburger. It was cooked perfectly and was one of the best burgers I've ever had! My husband had the shrimp basket and it was very good as well! We'll definitely be back!! 🙂

I had my vow renewal in Atlantic on the 25th of August and the food well to say it was amazing is not good enough. All my guests loves it. So happy I ordered extra food cause now I get more to eat on :) Carol was very nice and just great with all the stuff she brings with for the catering order, the help she provided with the set up, and she made it a point to see me and say hi and tell me I looked great. I was happy to have her provide the food. She is a delight to work with and again... FOOD IS DELICIOUS!!! (I got beef brisket, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, fruit salad, and rolls.)
