The service was exceptional between the constant topping off of our cold glasses of water and the knowledgeable wait staff - probably the best I have experienced in Vermont so far. We ordered the Vege Dunplings, Crispy Vegetable Spring Roll, the Buddha's Sesame Beef entree (Vegetarian), and the Red Chili Shrimp. While we waited, they brought us a snack mix with nuts. We ordered food at 4:51 and the spring roll arrived at the table by 5:08 - just 17 minutes. They were crispy with a nicely blended filling and served with delicious sauce. 2 minutes later we had the Vegetable Dumplings in Chili Oil which were on the smaller side (like golf ball sized) but incredibly well made. The filling was seasoned well, and the dumplings were soft and delious. The Buddha's Beef was crispy seitan cooked and seasoned to taste so much like beef, yet it was so uniquely its own thing - we both couldn't stop eating it and the gave us a large portion with many vegetables as well. The Red Chili Shrimp was fantastically crispy and the sauce was immaculate. Probably the best shrimp I have ever had. They were very large and cooked to perfection. The building itself was old and was slightly musty and the bathrooms weren't what I expected from a restaurant of this price point. All in all, the experience was fantastic and while it is a bit above our normal dinner budget I am sure we will return again for the next special occasion.

A friend told us about this place when we first moved here but this is the first real chance we had to go. We didn't have a reservation but were able to be seated at a high top table near the bar. It's now in my top five places to go. The food was amazing from the first bite to the last. The cocktails were also very delicious. This is another one of those hidden Vermont gems that locals want to keep a secret from tourists. I'm not mad at that! Thank you to everyone there and our server, Alexa, for a wonderful evening 😀

Oh man this place. We'd skipped a single pebble earlier as we'd heard they're only for large groups then my husband made secret plans for outside date night eating, so glad he did. The food was some of the BEST vegetarian Chinese dishes we've ever had. The Buddha's sesame beef (seitan) and dry fried green beans were amazing. But the scallion bread, WOW. Basically a big, fluffy, steamed bun with dipping sauces. Really can't recommend enough especially if you're looking for plant based options. Everybody was safe and friendly. The portions are very large though and they come out as they're cooked so in no particular order. Very happy. Coming back again and going to try the chef tasting menu.

I brought my husband here for his first time. We both are gluten free (not just with an intolerance) and were thrilled they offer great gluten free options!
The mock eel was as delicious as I had remembered! We also ordered the broccoli and green bean app’s, both so delicious!
We ordered the lemon shrimp entree. The shrimp were delicious but the flavor of the lemon was too intense and overpowered the dish for us both.
Overall a great experience!!

During my trip to Vermont to visit a friend, they recommended we have dinner at A Single Peddle. It was absolutely amazing. We split orders of gyoza, tofu double garlic broccoli and the tangerine peel chicken. Each bite was perfect. One of the best Chinese restaurants I've eaten at, hands above any of the Chinese restaurants in my hometown of New Orleans.

Single Pebble is a TRIUMPH. I'm a first gen Asian American who grew up with a lot of home cooking from my immigrant parents. I was also spoiled with so much amazing Asian food living in Queens, NY. Missing the authentic tastes of home and the restaurants of Flushing, I've had to resort to learning how to cook ethnic dishes after moving to Vermont. I absolutely love Vermont, don't get me wrong! But there objectively isn't a ton of authentic Asian food. The best way I can put Single Pebble's tasting menu is inspired and brilliant. It was AMAZING and made both myself and my partner love foods we normally avoid (like asparagus and eggplant). They're able to get textures and flavors I didn't know were possible. For 9 courses PLUS dessert included, I feel like the value for the quality can't be beat!

One of the best restaurants in Burlington.

The food is delicious and new (besides the buns). The wait staff is polite to the extreme and my water was refilled constantly. The atmosphere is beautiful and the lazy susans in the middle of the tables make for a fun way to share food with a large group.

The food is really out of this world. The price tag is worth it--you cant get breaded mock eel mushrooms and crispy setan anywhere else.

Our dinner was nothing short of outstanding. I've eaten in Chinatown in Philadelphia, New York, and San Francisco; this was the best Chinese food we've ever had... and it's not even close. We ordered the smoked pork belly special, Sichuan cucumber, Mock eel, Dry fry green beans, mixed Chinese greens, and Mapo tofu. The greens came out first- tender bok choy and mustard greens in a highly aromatic ginger and garlic broth. The dry fry green beans were absolutely perfect, tender crisp but blistered on the outside and well seasoned, topped with bits of crispy ground beef that added a wonderful savory note. The mock eel was a really interesting house creation, made by spiral cutting shitakes into wide strips. They were seasoned with what seemed to be a soy reduction and slightly crispy with a pleasant chew. The Sichuan cucumber they brought out next was a mildly seasoned, refreshing palate cleanser. The mapo tofu was sublime- so rich and with the powerful ma-la punch that I love without being overwhelming. Finally, the pork belly was very good with mixed vegetables and whole Chiles.

I also have to point out that while the majority of Chinese restaurants in America skew towards overly sweet and overuse of corn starch as a thickener- I guess to appeal to American tastes- A Single Pebble did not. Being on a keto diet, I was a little apprehensive, but I was thrilled that everything we ordered seemed to be within keto limits (skipping the rice of course). Only the mock eel had a mild sweetness to it, and the sauces seemed to get their slight thickness naturally from the main ingredients, and all the dishes really showcased the flavors of the ingredients.

I drive twenty minutes but it's worth it. The menu is huge and I always have a hard time deciding what to order. I've never been disappointed. Superb, and the service is good too.

Without a doubt the single best Chinese restaurant in Vermont. Our group was greatly satisfied by the excellent service provided to us throughout the meal. The menu features a wide variety of options, catering to a variety of palates. The menu features chicken, beef, pork, seafood, vegetable dishes, dumplings, soups, noodles, mock eel, and many more options. This location is best experienced in a small group, as food is served to be shared in the middle of the table. Definitely a must visit for the Burlington area.

One of the best restaurants anywhere. Good vegetarian selections, no obnoxious music, good portions. Seems to attract loud and boorish diners...but, hey, it's Vermont so there has to be some wierdness to make it legit.

The menu items are nonstandard Chinese. We always order the tasting menu and everything served is excellent.

Dessert comes with the tasting menu, a simple tapioca (photo). Perfect.

Amazing dinner! I would definitely recommend making a reservation, we did but we saw ppl walk in at the same time of us and were told a wait. Some of the best dumplings I’ve had and my dad loved the Buddha beef. Overall great and will definitely be coming back
